- I REALLY hate drama but this ended up being unavoidable. I felt an obligation to make sure everyone here was aware of the issues with Sean / AKA Geek With Social Skills since I worked with him so much in the past.

I am not a fan of drama but I felt I had no choice but to make this video so that viewers are aware of what is going on since I provided a platform where he was gaining credibility. It is no accident that this video has an ugly thumbnail, is not monetized and is simply edited. It is here to inform exiting viewers but not to get a ton of views via the algorithm. @@RavenWolfRetroTech I have a multi-year history there, too, but I'm one of the lucky ones with no personal horror stories. It seems I'm in a very small minority. It really pisses me off the more these stories come out and we all discover how vast the web of deceit spread. It's mind boggling and sickening. (And freaks me out, too.)
I am not feeling too stung by the stuff, after all I have too much stuff anyways. The personal betrayal is what sucks for me. I feel terrible for people that had things like the A4000T and some other things

Thanks for your video Mike - it's really disappointing to hear what has happened with Sean. There's enough "bad seeds" outside of the Retro Community - we would all like to think that the retro community is a group of like minded people who are sharing a common interest with respect and integrity. But I guess humans being humans, you are going to get certain kinds of behaviour, the good, the bad and the ugly no matter where you go. I'm a big believer in karma, so keep up your great work Mike - your efforts, professionalism and integrity speak for themselves.

You don't have to delete videos because you didn't do anything wrong. You're a good guy and we stand behind you so chin up, brother.
Thank You. I don't think I did anything wrong. I removed one video because he is interviewed on it and so it gives him credibility. The other focused on restoring a machine to raise money for the Humane Society and I no longer think that happened so I pulled it. I may just cut it up and add some "Future Mike" interludes and try to raise some money for them with it.
@@RavenWolfRetroTech Fair enough. The fact that you're trying to find a way to turn this lemon into lemonade to help the humane society is admirable. Proof that good triumphs over evil.
We raised the alarm years ago and the community silenced us.
I just posted earlier today on a Facebook group that I admit I was wrong so the same goes here. I first heard about it in January and did not want to believe it of someone "I knew". I was wrong!

Thanks for sharing your story. I, too, thought that Sean Rox aka Geek With Social Skills was a friend, and had left his past behind. Indeed, he has not. If you are watching this video 5 years from now and come across my comment, please be aware that Sean has scammed multiple retro communities over the course of many years. He will try to convince you that he is reformed. No matter what he says, he is NOT reformed. No way. No how. You've been warned. You're welcome.
What's crazy, I've never seen your channel (though I follow retro generally), and this is the first video of yours that the agorithm has shown to me. The algorithm feeds on drama. Praise and glory to the algorithm.
I did everything I could to prevent that but glory to the Algorithm I guess 🙄
Broke my heart because I know he lied to my face on several occasions. Everything after that I saw as just more social engineering.

I have been watching since the Stone collection to see what you would do and what hidden gems were waiting to be a tribute to Mr. Stone. Its shocking to learn you were a target of something awful. As a retro fan I hope to see more from you in the future.

Thanks for making the video. You're clearly uncomfortable with the whole situation, but I think it's really important that people do make these videos. Spreading this message is the thing that prevents him from being able to do it again.
Thank you. The video was the hardest part because I felt I had endorsed him on the channel and had to warn all of you so you don't get bitten. The thing is this channel was intended to be a fun place for retro without the drama of the world so I hated to bring it to those who are not affected.
This is the third video on what this guy did Sad this happened but it need to get talked about to inform and root out individuals like him that use and abuse the commuinty

The timing of this is interesting because I was out on Friday to get a 1541 and Commodore 128 that I found from two different sellers on our local equivalent to Craigslist. Although both of them were super easy-going and passionate about Commodore stuff like me, I couldn't shake off the idea that you can't trust anyone anymore, and it was actually something I was discussing with my wife who was with me for the ride.
I know it's a very "gloomy" vision of things and not everyone is like that, but people like the person you mention (and that Adrian and others have also delt with) make it feel like we always have to be on our guard. It sucks because it is absolutely amazing to talk with people who share the same passion as yourself.
I decided a long time ago that I would rather be taken advantage of now and then than live in a world where I cannot trust anyone. I think the price is lower that way. I am usually pretty good at spotting scams but the long game being played here got through.
Geek With Social Skills never had social skills.

Failed biologically is forgivable.
Sadly he does have just enough to be dangerous and he chooses to use them for ill and to enrich himself at the expense of the community.
You're a good dude and nobody that matters is going to think any less of you for (in good faith) befriending someone that turned out to be a scammer.
Hey Mike - I know making this video was tough for you. I also know how hurt you must be from getting blindsided by someone you took under your wing and considered a friend. No idea what has been going on but thanks for sharing. Scammers are lame.. and yeah so sorry you had to go though thing like that. We know your good guy. Take care and try not let it get to you. I am so sorry to hear that "Geek With Social Skills" ticked you or tried to? But the last couple of years it has been like that, if you can cheat someone, then "you're so cool or something"? I don't know why there are so many people nowadays that tries to trick other people. But from a european view, I think that you can thank the ex former president D. Trump, for encouraging people to try cheat on each other.

I think it has to do with being cheated by an online scammer that pretended to be your friend. Sends stuff over to you and then nothing. Well, is that worth making a video about? It's the modern day use and discard approach.

I am trying to find a balance between drama (Which I despise) and making sure that everyone was aware that I feel that this person that I featured prominently on several videos is not to be trusted. The video was targeted at my existing audience with additional information available in the links. I really, REALLY didn't want to do any video on it but I felt I had a responsibility to make sure people are not taken advantage of because I misjudged someone and gave them a platform to build credibility.
