I'm in Dickson, we got hit by an EF-1 tornado yesterday. It hit my high school dead on and did lots of roof damage, uprooted trees and took out a lot of power lines. Many places around here are still without power today. I was taking shelter in the part of the building that was hit worst and I have to admit.. it was a little scary. Imagine hearing the sound of the metal roof getting ripped off, doors blasting open and windows being busted out. Very wild day to say the least.
I live in Long Island New York that barely gets tornadoes and on November 13th we had a tornado outbreak. 4 tornadoes touched down in Long Island, the most tornadoes that ever hit Long Island in over 70 years. 3 of them were EF0 but one of them was an EF1, and there was a lot of damage
I actually remember this tornado, even though I was only 2 years old. I was at my grandma's house and my grandma said we were gonna "pretend" that it was a tornado. I found out later that it was an actual tornado. Thank god it didn't hit the ground, or my grandparents' house would have been completely destroyed.

When i have kids and theres a tornado warning ima tell them to pretend like its a tornado, that was a smart idea

Newer tornado sirens in Nashville is way better than the old rusty tornado sirens. Also, the NOAA Weather Radio voice is replaced.
@pogo506 yes it has all three alert tones the warning tone, watch tone, and advisory tone.
I got the same handheld model as you do. Love the fact I can clip it to my belt .Most of the time I got that clip to one side of my belt and my scanner to the other lol
I just use the scanner for weather radio at the same time.

I was in school when this happened and we had an EF1 tornado hit Waverly and we took cover in the hallway. Thankfully nobody was killed.

Megaman334 well I hate heic cuz they're pieces of trash especially when 2001 Federal signals are way louder than those pieces of crap ATI stands for terrible investment which is why they're quieter than a federal signal 2001

Who does the voice for those warnings? Its not Paul or whatever. I can't seem to find any info about it at all
Tom is the usually the voice that reads the alerts. On rare occasions, Donna will read the alerts. Paul is who broadcasts the time and Station ID.

Some parts of the U.S. don't have tornado sirens like Los Angeles, CA; Houston, TX; Miami, FL; Salt Lake City, UT; & Denver, CO. . .we could use some here 2.

@Xboxlivemgear They didn't. I called to set my siren off, kept in touch with relatives in the tornado's path etc. I would have shot some footage, but there's not much you can see from the inside of a hallway with closed doors. LOL.

It sounds like they changed the voice again on the radio. The woman isn't on there anymore and the voice that they have now sounds funny and the speech is a little broken.
The National Weather Service implemented a New Voice. Which is called Paul JR. Or known as the Broadcast Message Handler (BMH) which basically replaces the Voices we have now.

I live in tenneessee and it actually rarely ever has tornadoes even if there are they never get to my area cause I live on a hill suck it tornado >:) also tornadoes here for some reason always die quickly like in my life living here never has there been an ef3 tornado
