- The day after the "Eddie Aikau" event Kai Lenny came straight to Jaws after sunrise with his team and showed everyone some next level XXL surfing on giant waves. First, Kai paddled in on some very serious heavy waves from the north peak, riding them all the way through. Then he grabbed the rope with Slater Trout, who he teamed up with for this tow in session. Kai took his surfing to the next level! Huge maneuvers, big stylish turns in critical places, and all out power. Slater also got some really nice giant XXL waves himself. This powerful swell was super special, two days of pumping XXL surf at Pe'ahi. Everyone that surfed this past swell at Jaws really pushed things to the next level. Seeing the progression of big wave surfing each season at Pe'ahi is amazing and very inspiring. Hopefully we get one more giant swell before the season ends.

Kai just seems to have a sixth sense with these big waves, his awareness is uncanny.
This was considered IMPOSSIBLE 20 years ago & he's pullin 360's on a wave that's gonna kill your average surfer........Kai you're the wave killing guy..... MASSIVE RESPECT!
He's absolutely got his equipment and that spot dialled in - next level!

*I don't think people realize how psycho it is that Kai is throwing 360's off the face and hitting the lip on a wave that big. Man is his own species of human being*

Kai's straps on his board is revolutionary, you can see that advantage of his board control in big wave surfing compared to surfer's without straps. It's like he's snowboard/wakeboarding these monsters 🌊

He does strapped so well because of his kite and windsurfing experience.
I lived on Maui from 1975-1979 when no one even surfed jaws yet. And what this Lenny does it's hard for me to believe!
Never surfed but I do realise - and respect - this guy’s skill: the way he reads the development of each wave and throws in a casual 360° is just phenomenal.
An advert for what multi-disciplined surfers can do. The rotations - kitesurfing, the huge hacks off the lip - Windsurfing.....having the balls to be out there in the first place - Big wave riding. Fair play to Kai that was fun to watch.
