It’s fine if she got lost in the crowd, but she couldn’t actually “be anyone”. And the shape-shift was pointless anyway!
Ironically, this shapeshifter alone is 10x better than the whole Secret Invasion show.

Maybe im overreading this but the way Butcher talks about how he hates shapshifting supes seesms to imply hes fought and probably killed some himself maybe the rest of The Boys too except Hughie of course maybe MM might be the one to find out who the shapeshifer is and be key point in taking her down given Butchers current dilemma.

Oddly enough, this is tame compared to the season 1 Supernatural shapeshifting scene!
I’m sure in Supernatural it was just as bloody but we didn’t see (or more like they couldn’t show) every time they tore off their skin

I know she changed form but... they very clearly saw the form she changed into. And they were right behind her. And it clearly takes a minute for this supe to shed their old skin to shift into their next one. So... just look for the old lady they very clearly saw? Twice? This felt like the Flash where the supervillain just runs around the corner and the protagonists just go "oh no, they escaped!" No... they didn't. See the old lady hauling arse down the street at full sprint? That's your supe.

Interesting. In the flash, everyman original face looked like a mannequin s face because he had used his powers so many times that he had forgotten how he originally looked like. In the boys, this shapeshifter can replicate others appearance by touch and it is also implied that she can learn the memories and information from the people she impersonates. Meaning that she becomes the person she touches in body and mind. She probably forgets who she is every single time she switches her disguise. Talk about identity crisis. No wonder she became an assasin as she probably developed some nasty personality disorders due her powers.

I feel like this is rather a 1:1 copy of Kripke's shape shifters from supernatural; they also gain memories of their victims but keep their own too.

That same thing happened to Mystique in the x-men comics and Psylocke restored her sanity
I’m wondering why wasn’t this particular Shapeshifter introduced much earlier in the series. Would have been really useful against The Boys.

I call her the "Chameleon" with how her skin sheds and how she blinks like other lizards
I like to call them “It” cuz we don’t know anything about them. We don’t know if they were originally a boy or a girl. It’s not a person anymore. It’s someone wearing a leather skin suit 24/7. That’s why they sweat because the skin they’re wearing is a “leather suit” of skin. It’s crazy they were probably a 5 yrs old kid then suddenly they became a middle aged preschool teacher. Chameleons usually imitate and blend in with their surroundings. This shifter grows new skin and disregards the rest becoming a new person. It’s not camaflough it’s more like metamorphosis. Reptiles and lizards go through metamorphosis too so they probably have a reptile physiologically.

Just a theory but...
Would it be possible that the appearances of Hughie's mother in Season 4 is none other than the current shapeshifter? The absentee mom just showing up out of the blue (or rather when Hugh Sr. goes into a coma), and then her last appearance being the early segments of Episode 6. Yeah, Season 4 is not as good as Season 2 or early parts of Season 3, but the horror and brutality is consistent.

but we've only been seeing a fraction of that power.

Man I thought I was the only one who thought about that since Toga’s Shapeshifting powers are scary and disturbing with blood and how the person she turns into melts off of her like during the license exam arc but this takes a whole new level.

Doppelgänger’s weakness was that he couldn’t stay in others forms for that often. This shifter works better for long term infiltrations

Somehow this Shifter is more efficient than Doppelganger. Doppelganger can’t stay in disguise for too long and reverts to his true form.
Though I feel this Shifter is too OP. She can read minds and replenish her from her victim to stay in disguise. And bulletproof?
Shapeshifters in Supernatural are real psychotic monsters, they hurt people for cruel entertainment than for food.
Bruh how did they lose her. They saw what she looked like before going out the door and it’s not like her powers are like mystic where she can instantly look like someone else.
Wish they could have expanded on this shapeshifter a bit more than they did, more interesting than other supes that have been in the show. To be fair what we did get was awesome.

There are three things I have issues with this scene that relate to the rest of the episode:
1. The old lady's eyes widen, and a sound effect plays when she is touched. This is, of course, an indication that the shapeshifter has acquired her form. But if the old lady is having some kind of subtle reaction, then how did Starlight not notice, at any point, that her form was taken (she may not know what the reacrion means, but surely it would raise some kind of flag)? I'm aware the old lady might just be freaked out someone running past her, but the why show the eyes widen as if she felt something strange happening?
2. I am assuming, because if this is not the case then it's crazy, the shapeshifter can only change into the person who last made phyisical contact. I don't understand the point of the selfie scene if she was just gonna gas her out of sight later anyway (cause contact is made there).
3. Someone else pointed out (and I immediately was wondering on first viewing) HOW DO THEY LOSE THE SHAPESHIFTER? They know exactly what she looks like and that she is wearing a stand-out, spotted coat. And there is no way she could have already shapeshifted again because then there'd be blood and flesh everywhere and people freaking out. It's not like it was the middle of a super busy metro area.
TLDR; lazy / bad writing. Also the writers hate Hughie, god damb.

But Wow and I thought Toga’s Transformation Power from MHA was scary and disturbing with Blood but this takes a whole new level of how this shapeshifter tears her skin off like a Chameleon with blood and gore to turn into someone else she touches.
