  • Stanley Kubrick was approached by The Beatles in 1969 after they expressed interest in having him direct them in a new film project known as The Lord of the Rings. He turned them down citing the sheer massive size of the adaptation and passed on the collaboration.
The iconic director absolutely adored cats and kept countless of them throughout the years. His favourite was named Polly; a regular with him during an increasingly reclusive period later in this career who was given exclusive access to his editing room where others were denied.
Many moon landing deniers have suggested that Kubrick directed the footage for a staged landing in order to convince the world that the United States had put a man on the moon. His daughter, Vivian, has denied any involvement claiming that the idea of her father helping NASA to create a fake landing was "manifestly a grotesque lie."

Torn between The Shining and A Clockwork Orange as his greatest film. 2001 is seminal, that's clear - but something about those two masterpieces has stayed with me to this day.

It's 2001 for me, but you can't go wrong with the other 2 you mentioned
