- In this video, I show you highlights of an organised storage house I made on Valheim. This storage house can hold up to 56 chests - all of which are signposted and easily accessible. The structure itself is simple and easy-to-build, and doesn't cost too many materials (you can build up the number of chests as you require them). This makes it a perfect choice for beginners. If you would like to learn how to build it, a link to the full video is provided below.

We did a similiar design, but i think i like this one better. Guess i gotta rebuild ours 😂
Thank you. Although, I am sure that yours is already great! Thank you for your comment!
Recently got into Valheim and your storage design is one of the first structures I built.
Excellent build, compact and simple.
Though I modified it a bit to have 84 storage boxes instead of 56. Its less aesthetically pleasing as I have 3 chests in a row instead of two, but it's VERY practical.
Thanks and Im looking forward for some more inspiration!
I love this chest room so much. Its absolutely the best design out there. So efficient and easy to use. I modified it slightly by raising it up and having a workbench right underneath with a little gap which you can access it. This lets you craft right in the chest room with access to all materials. You can craft everything you have just standing in one spot lol.
I really like the sound of that. I may actually incorporate that into my builds going forward. Thank you for sharing!
@@phinqsNo worries! I will also add with a big enough chest room you can fit a workbench and a forge! The trickiest part though is getting the exact heights so the workbench doesnt clip through the floor but is also accessible. It will take some fiddling around with the pickaxe and hoe, but is *chefs kiss* once you get it.
Good luck!
To change the colour of the signs just type followed by the word you want on the sign no gaps on spelling for example
HOME
You are absolutely right and it is a great way to customise your signs and make them more readable. Unfortunately, that feature was not yet implemented into the game when I made this video!
Not a bad design for early game, however you named them with late game items which by that point you should at least have all reinforced chests or black metal chests for storage.
You are very observant. However, I just named them randomly to fill out the signs. There's actually nothing in any of these chests!
Nah
Should have all black metal chests? Wtf lol... no....
@@Slippy82literally 💀I just did the Asmongold thing of more simple chest are easier to make wtf is this guy smoking ,black metal chests😂
@@sutnack7537someone's been spawning resources into the game or using creative mode. I dont think he knows how much of a waste 50 black metal chests would be.
I built this, it's bloody brilliant!
It is always cool to hear that people recreate my builds - it doesn't get old. Thanks for the support!
@@phinqs Thanks for sharing your builds 😊
@@Jamie_Pritchard I have plenty of ideas still to come!
props for linking it within the short
I do what I can!
The core wood pieces mod let's you craft stackable chests with a built in sign. It's sexy as heck.
I desperately need to build this… my organization system is so non-existent it might melt your eyeballs😅😅
We have all been there! I am sure you will get it under control.
Highly recommend changing those (2) wooden chest side- by-side to one large Black Metal Chest when you get that option. Black Metal Chest hold more than 3x the amount, it's an easy transition, and black metal isn't too hard to get outside of it weighing a ton.
It is true that black metal chests give you far more storage for the same space. However, this build is specifically tailored to beginners! There are many other advanced storage systems featured on my channel!
When beginners realize that base building is the real end game content
The building mechanics are the gift that keeps on giving!
Clean build mate😎👍🏼
Thanks a lot - I appreciate it, mate!
Need every chest to have 20, or 30 slots. Don’t remember exact number of 2 iron and 10 fine wood chest. But the small chest doesn’t hold enough of anything to make them worth while!
I agree. However, this build is aimed specifically at beginners. Additionally, you can replace the regular wood chests with reinforced chests as you gather those materials!
We saved ourselves the headache on the second playthrough and got a mod that pulls from nearby chests when you're crafting. Once you use it you wonder why it isn't a feature in the base game.
like palworld?
I typically play without mods but this is due to the fact that I want my content to be accessible for everyone who wants to watch it. I really with the developers would enable this as a selectable feature in the base version of the game though!
Yes! This feature is available in a lot of other games in the survival-craft genre but not Valheim!
Pros of a round room for anything:
maximizes space, ability to just spin around and see everything
Cons: hard to expand when you happen to need more space
They look beautiful, they're very nice. But, much like portal yurts and pagodas, I'd rather have it be a warehouse style where there are aisles for different biomes and each shelf is it's own type. I can walk into my warehouse and see the meadows aisle, go down it and see the sap shelf, or the mistlands aisle with the marble shelf. For the portals it's similar but with the aisles being by use (ore, woods, farmlands, dungeons), and they are all numbered so they're easy to connect with a sign behind them telling me where they go exactly.
I would say that this is a more beginner friendly storage area. As I progress into the later stages of the game, I usually start to combine my workstations and storage areas to streamline my crafting process! I agree with you.
@@phinqs unfortunately I have a bad tendency to not think about things in beginner or experienced terms. Never thought of it like that. 😅 my bad, even if you agree. Lol
@@soulmare333 No problem! I designed this build in March 2021, haha!
As someone who’s on my 4th day playing Valheim, I’m happy shorts brought me here 🤣🤣
You have come to the right place!
Wow I really like this and this is really what I need because I am not a very organized person and this should help me thanks man
It is one of my favourite builds that I have created to date. I am glad you like it!
Small Chests BOOOO!!! LMAO Just kidding good job
It is supposed to be a beginners storage house but you can replace the regular chests with reinforced chests if you need the extra space!
My favorite is running back and forth from my crafting tables to my storage bc i keep forgetting what I needed oops
We've all been there! I normally place a few chests close to my workstations where I will keep items I rely on regularly and then, the rest goes into a storage house like this one!
If you do round like that you was more space and its harder to integrate inside another building. Its better to keep stuff inside your main house with the defenses on. Specially next to the craft stations. That way you can carry stuff overburdened without any issue.
But after playing a while I decide against storage rooms instead I just keep the relevant chest next to the relevant stations. Its much easier and save time walking around.
It is all just down to personal preference. There are people who prefer to have storage houses and people who prefer them next to workstations, or elsewhere. I have used many different solutions throughout my time on the game. There is also plenty of alternative solutions on my channel!
Black metal is a lot nicer since you can quick stack a bunch of related items quickly - specifically monetary items, woods, food supplies, or goopy kinds of items.
Yes. The additional storage from black marble chests is definitely worth it but this is a design specific to beginners who will not have access to black marble yet!
Cool but i always think in big so rn my base which is around 15x15x4 I can literally place like 200 chests but im not really using it out cause I started a new game and rn im still in bronze
There are plenty of bigger builds on my channel that may be more aligned to what you are aspiring towards!
I usually just build chest rooms based on biome
I like this idea! I remember organising my old storage houses by biome. It always worked pretty well!
Not enough wood chests
This build is intended for beginners and therefore, I think there is more than enough chests. However, you are right that there is not enough to last you the full length of the game. I have more advanced storage houses for application in the late game!
@@phinqs no, I mean not enough ‘Wood’ wood chests
@@angerykenboi1959 Oh, yes! I probably should have used around 90% of the chests for wood!
After i tried Enshrouded i realised that valheim micro-managing with these chests is simply awful. Mods are helping a little but they arent very smooth.
Mods literally fix all of Valheim's problems. Equipment and storage slots + extra inventory row + craft from containers.
Then you can add other qol stuff like eternal torch, speedy paths, or whatever.
I am sure that the developers will revisit a few quality of life areas before the game is in full release. However, I agree that Enshrouded, and other games in the genre, do a better job!
The modding community on Valheim is great. There is a mod for everything! Although, I do not really use them much myself.
Use the "item drawer" mod. Way easier than this
I have never used it but I have heard great things about it. Thanks for your suggestion!
waiting for a troll to onehit all the chests and make a mess.. happened to me
We’ve all been there! The best thing you can do is pick yourself up and mend the damage. The troll will have his turn later in the game, haha!
@@phinqs For sure, i got raided as soon as i went to sleep, so i was stuck and could not do anything. I have endgame equipment, i was just super unlucky
@@thomashaugland6953 The event sounds really unfortunate. Hopefully, you get better luck going forward!
Who wants to play later ?
You should join my Discord server. There are many regular players who are always looking for more people to play with!
Wait youre telling me there's no bigger storage chest 😭
There are a few bigger storage chests. This build is aimed at beginners! There are plenty more storage builds on my channel that utilise the different storage options!
Imagine a troll comes through and smashes the shit out of this little storage hut.
It could happen! It’s all part of the game!
Who stores wood stone and fine wood in chests and not piles?
I do! You can fit much more of the material in a smaller space using chests but it is all down to personal preference!
How do you type with different colors
You have to type before your text - or whatever colour you would like. There are blog pages on the internet which go into a full description of the colours you can use. Hope this helps.
It’s look a little hard for me haha
There is a step by step guide on my channel!
Upload blueprint for PlanBuild?
It is a good recommendation. I have considered it in the past but I do not usually use mods! I will look into it.
Does this build work with iron chests?
Yes, it should work fine. It is best to place reinforced chests on the top shelf first and move down the shelves.
a beginner has refined eitr?
No, it is just a generic item that I have placed in a chest. It could have been anything.
Too little Space 😂
It is a build aimed at beginners. You should have a look at my other designs for a build suitable for later in the game!
@@phinqs it's a joke on my part, it's very well built 🤩
@@BillySanchez84 No problem! Thank you!

Nicely done!
The link doesn’t work
What link are you looking for? They all seem to work for me.
@@phinqs it was the hyper link to your video mate but I found it. Btw. Do you still play this game? Would be fun to play with another dude from Scotland. I’m in the early game atm (bronze age right now)
@@beltempest4448 I do still play. I actually have an active community server on Discord (with a free dedicated server). The players are from around the world and I jump in and play when my schedule allows it. Feel free to join. There should be an invite link in the about section of my CZcams channel.
@@phinqs alright mate nice one. I’ll check it out :)
Currently using your early game storage tutorial then going to make a proper workhouse and then the smelting house after that.
Little much for a brand new players
It only requires a hammer and a bunch of wood - some of the easiest items to acquire in the game. Once you have that, the build guide will explain the rest!
Pretty pointless just having a massive room of resources with no crafting tables.
It is not for everyone but some people like it this way. I have plenty of other builds that have workstations and storage close to each other!
I also decided a long time ago to make a warehouse... but mine is much bigger and it is in a separate world)
I respect it. I have bigger ones too but this is a design I created when the game was just released into early access!
Bro it is not EFFICIENT! You need your storage very close to your craft area. You will lose so much time doing kilometers between your craft station and your stuff!
Who said that you need to build this kilometres from your crafting stations? You could literally build this right next door.
looks nice, but not functional
It all comes down to preference. There are people who like to store all their items in a single location and others who like to store them by their respective workstations.
Do the same thing but with blackmetal chests! Youd be like a little costco lol
Haha, definitely! I think I have a similar build with the black metal chests somewhere on my channel. Although, my preference is now the reinforced chests!
1 chest per item? bro that's weak
This is designed as a storage house for beginners. Obviously, as you progress through the game you will require additional storage!
