- In this video I'm unboxing an Acer Predator GM7000 4TB NVMe Gaming SSD. I bought this from Amazon. I recently had a issue downloading new games on my PS5. I ran out of space. I added the 4TB which translates to 100 + additional games that I can save.

Congrats bro , i am about to buy an m.2 for my ps5 and this video helped a lot ! Thanks
Lol you just liked my comment after 8 months, i no longer have a ps5 it's the worst generation ever, instead i bought ps4 pro and rtx 2080 ti and am much happier now
That’s awesome you got a 4TB SSD drive I hoping to get about the same amount the storage
Just received the predator gm7000 and on the back of the box it shows not compatible with nvme slot is that on all of them?
Life saver!
I have the 1 TB version of this drive in my laptop. I really like it. But I have not put it through it's paces, yet. Cheers!
After a year of use, how does that Nvme perform for you?
Thanks!!!
Congrats
Finally found a video before getting this item, I just noticed it has no heatsink or was I blind, was it fine without the heatsink up to present time now?
How is it going so far? Has your performance dropped?
It’s going great. I haven’t noticed any performance issues.
How’s it holding up now?
I love it. It's played daily about 5-6 hrs no issues.
What was the speed reading on the PS5?
up to 7400
Is it still running? Only asking because some people that bought said it was a headache. I need it no room on the ps5 left. 😂
It’s running fine. No issues for me so far.
@@DezFTW Thank you. Can’t afford all the upgrades lately. Any and all savings helps.
@@markr.1329hey did you end up purchasing it? How’s it going?
@@rubendiaz247I have not gotten that one yet. The one I did get for the other PS5 needed the cooling pad or what ever it’s called. And still gets pretty warm. But I have faith in acer. I bought my grandfather a computer and fixed it up no problems. When they were not as good of a company. Both of mine are only 2TB. I have to uninstall all the time. Then reinstall as needed. But I honestly can say don’t forget a heat sink.
Gm 7000 sames as gm7
What if i lose the screw
don't lose it
What if you're stupid
Does it require a heatsink for PlayStation 5?
I believe the heatsink comes on the SSD already.
@@aaronYoh WRONG. It comes with a piece of foam that ACER calls a Heat Spreader because it is not a Heat Sink.
@@DavidElliottLewis I installed it in PS5, with that label on, because the box and other side label reads "garanty avoid if removed"
I put a heat sink for PS5 with a thermal pad, but I guess if I should removed that foam
@@DrBlackthief yea I would remove the foam because it still soaks up the heat. I installed a heat sink I got off amazon for 4 dollars and it works great. It's amazing what 2 metal pieces and 2 rubber strips can do
@@KazumaKiryu-0 Did you put the heat sink? I put it and it didn't work, it was paralyzed and worked.
Mine is the predator gm7000 4tb
When copying games to it did your ps5 start sounding like a jet engine?
My PS5 sometimes sounds like a jet is taking off super loud 😂 Makes me nervous. Never did that before installing this
Cool feature
Yooo I'm currently copying my data from my Samsung 980 to my console then transferring from my console to predator and its totally going jet engine. I'm thinking it's the foam piece, im thinking I'm ripping it off and putting a real heatsink because I'm filling up that 4tb and uts definitely hot
Any update? Did you take the foam sticker off i didnt know if I could take it off without damaging the ssd @KazumaKiryu-0
@@SoFlyMalachi yep, I very gently as I could peeled the foam off to not leave any residue. It took a good minute but it came off and I put a regular heat sink on and immediately the difference was astonishing, my ps5 was quiet once once more and nowhere near as hot
I had the same issue with the same ssd Predator GM7000 4tb inside my PS5, after I installed this ssd, and start to copy some games, the console sounded like a blender, horribleee, I opted for a heatsink from Amazon and the noise is gone
WRONG - INCORRECT INFORMATION:
This Acer Predator GM7000 4TB NVMe Gaming SSD does not have a real heat sink. Their claim that their piece of foam on top is one is false. In fact, ACER calls it a heat spreader and not a heat sink. This is because is isn't one. You need to buy and install a real heat sink or this drive will eventually fry and fail.
Thanks for the info but I don’t run my ps5 all day and night to need it.
i would install another heatsink on it i just got this one for 199.99 and that heat foam is not enough
It's a similar heat sink to the one on Adata XPG S70B. To install another heat sink, you'll have to remove the original one and it's messy. By the way, it's not foam, it's aluminum LOL. They tested on XPG and the original heat sink is good enough for PS5. The stupid things Sony says to make us believe the performance would be so through the roof that it requires a chunky heat sink.
@bloedekuh look on there website it's a graphene laced foam pad and its not hard at all to remove. I removed mine easily I did it becuase there are chips on the back and I wanted to keep them cool as well.
@wrathfang can I just rip it off or do I need specific tools to remove the foam piece. What if I just put the heatsink over it
You should put heat sink on it
How do I put it?
It also shows this product is designed for desktop environments and does not fit in nvme ssd enclosures.
