  • The Robodebt Royal Commission was costly, but that expense was tiny compared to the cost of the Robodebt Scheme. This video runs through the numbers.
There's also an update on the National Anti-Corruption Commission's decision not to investigate the Robodebt referrals.

It was terrible for me and some of my friends ( now deceased ). Debt collection agencies phoning daily and openly threatening interest bearing debts, no support or onus on any government departments or entities, belligerent and unhelpful resources at every level on MyGov. Not being able to pay rent in order to service automated debt repayments. Multiple meals missed every week.
I used to have a tolerable respect for government up until I had to sell a saxophone my great grand mother gave to me when I was 10 ( now 55 ) and I personally lost three friends including one with profound disabilities. Now I have contempt and mistrust for any government agencies as well as ongoing fear and terror responses to answering phones and emails or dealing with financial problems.
An Oxford dictionary definition of a terrorist scheme. Deliberately targeting those on disability or VA income streams, people with traumatic head injury and/or on spectrum with pre existing anxiety and societal trust issues and, in a lot of cases incapable of understanding or processing what was happening to us and why.
Very dark times and the fact the all got to stroll off into the sunset whilst many of us are permanently and irrecoverably scarred is insidious.

33 million dollars for a few interviews and print out a report, the whole investigation should only have taken a week or two and every investigation should have referral powers for prosocution and use them, how can this sort of funding for a basic investigation be justified, in the report should be included a complete cost breadown of every dollar allocated and since these people seem to forget they are public servants and they work for the public and in doing so are supposed to have every aspect of their job justified, financially, ethically and morally even though this never takes place. The Australian public has grown very blase concerning our government, they shout out how we have a two party preferred system in Australia, what idiot prefers only two parties, this is just a petri dish of corruption and collusion between two parties that care nothing about the public and do only what is needed to keep the minor parties happy enough to get their preferences at voting time otherwise whoever pays the best of comes out with great favors then they get the sitting governments support untill the next party gets in and they do the same and there is no one to stop them, and even if they get caught then who cares, if they have to leave office they still get a very generous payout and pension and then they walk strait into top paying jobs that had already been promised. If our two main parties vote no to ethics rules forbidding them from lying to the public in their job then both parties are corrupt and do not work for the public, if both parties vote on a missinformation bill but put two big exceptions in the bill stating that mainstream media and the government are exempt from spreading missinformation then the two main parties are corrpt and do not work for the people, just from these two votes in paliment then we know for a fact that the Australian public can not believe any spoken word or any action taken from the two main parties.

I recall when this was kicking off, being scarfed I was going to get into trouble.
I wasn't nor do I earn enough from work in order to have to do tax, so I was safe.
    But other people, nope.
I am still not able to earn $10 an hour and all attempts to get a job outside of disability employment have failed.
