Its not a perfect synch but damn its deserving of the only live 1979 concert Video footage available. I was at the Hamburg Venue of the same Tour, It was freezing cold so stopped by the Wintergarten Bar and happened to be where the the after venue party was and a warm welcome as most of the road crew were Scottish. “All the videos, songs, images, and graphics used in the video belong to their respective owners and I or this channel does not claim any right over them.

I was 17 years old when this song came out. I heard it on KLOS...Los Angeles that is. Rickie Lee Jones is baddass on this jam. Chuckies in love was and will always be a favorite!
I remember going to the States for the first time in 1979 and Chuck Es In Love was being played on all the FM stations along with Fleetwood Mac, a fantastic time.

...Introducing the genius composer of Australia's so-called "National Anthem", ie. The Horses. If she received a 5 cent coin for every uninformed TV journalist (and every other Aussie citizen) who attributes The Horses to that other genius song-writer and performer (Daryl Braithwaite), she'd be the wealthiest songwriter on the planet. For all her humility, she genuinely appreciates (according to her autobiography) Australia's unofficial national anthem: Daryl's subliminally beautiful cover of it... I was Daryl (and Sherbet)'s biggest fan as a kid and it was a memorable moment to jam on stage with his beautiful piano player at Happy Bay all those moons ago...But it just doesn't seem fair that the accolades for The Horses continue to be extended to Daryl Braithwaite. Read her book if you get the chance.

Just had a listen now and Rickie being who she is and how she is or was at the time of writing that song not thinking of anything other than how she felt the song should be sung wheras my gut feeling is Daryl or who ever suggested the song to him could recognise how it could be arranged and made more appealing to a larger audience. An American singer song writer J.J.Cale could tell many a tale about the same and how it was others that had more success and even hits with his songs such as After Midnight and Cocaine which many probably thought were from Clapton when they were Cale compositions.

Looking on from the sidelines I would tend to agree but like all of us I could imagine Rickie being protective of her choices. I remember when Dr John reached the point of playing a gig in a Scottish bar in the dead end village of Errol and thinking that is sad.

Once you know she was a heroine addict, it's hard to see this performance for exactly what it is. That part is quite sad.
and what is that exactly in your opinion if I might ask ?. I think it its fair to say there are 1000s of performances by Musicians that were made when they were on something but anyone who knows anything about Heroin will know it isnt until it has really taken hold of your body and mind that it is going to make getting up on a stage to perform impossible. I dont know if Rickie was actively on Heroin before or during this performance but what we can see is it did not get in the way of it and she was totally entertaining and can be seen to enjoying it.
