I agree with everything he said! The quality to cost ratio is impossible to beat, really. I am a hobbyest landscape photographer, and Pentax ticks all those boxes perfectly for me.

Thanks for the best shots. During 80's I was using a Pentax Super A with 1.4/50 lense. The publicity war by Canon, Nikon and Sony made Pentax inferior to them not by quality. Still we awaits best from Pentax and going. At present I am having a Pentax K-70.

Yet again another holy than thou review. I can't get over how many of you guys say stuff like its a feeling of taking an image the beauty of the moment. What pentax users and more importantly new pentax users need to hear is how the camera is. How it works in the field and the amazing quality of the image. I've had pentax for over 30 years. And for me its the bullet proof design. The longevity of the camera and most of all the quality of the image. Like all brands the glass is where the quality is. Pentax have made some excellent glass but they make crap to. Not all limited lenses are good and some stock zooms are fantastic. Generally pentax is a cheaper product but quality is generally good. Compatability is where its at. The k1 mk2 still takes a lens made in the 60s. Thats a feature not to be overlooked. So pentax start being a big boy in today's market and tell us how good it is not how it feels or youll end up like an old alpha Romeo. Lovely to look at but underneath just crap. I can't convince anyone to buy a pentax these days. But people love my images. They look at mine then buy a Sony. Whats with that pentax? Work it out. Please

In some ways the lower prices of Pentax work against it - people can assume it is because the quality is inferior. Perhaps if Pentax _raised_ its prices they would sell more :-S But a big reason the prices are lower than equivalent Canon, Nikon etc is that Pentax don't spend money on marketing, which has massive costs. Pentax also save by not trying to keep up with very latest tech, which only becomes not-the-latest-tech after a couple of years anyway. My 4 year old K-1 does all I want and will do for years to come. I have no use for 100MPx or 150fps video, even if some CZcamsrs want (or are paid) to brag about that stuff one day.

I've had my K-3 since it was released almost seven years ago and finally moved on to KP. I really needed the tilting screen for my style of shooting despite the single card slot and smaller battery. I also don't miss the top LCD plate. I love the smaller form factor and lighter weight though it's still a tank.

@@Clodrock Thumbs up for the tilting screen, I often use mine although the contraption on the K-1 is OTT. A simple top hinge would cover most needs. But we think the new APS-C flagship won't have one which will cost Pentax many buyers :-( I never look at my top plate display either.

K-70 is more then awsome. An Aps C DSLR camera, more or less same size as an Micro 4/3 Panasonic G80. Rugged like a tank, I live the North of Scandinavia, were temps can go down below -20 c for days and weeks, the K-70 just keeeps goin. I'm actully amazed, from indoors temp out to - 15 below C, and I do not need to worrie about if the K-70 will work, it just do. The pentaprisma is beutiful, battery? No problems, just make sure to turn of the screen and a full day of shooting in -15C temp, will be fine. It just keeps on goin.
Rain and your our for hike or fishing? No problems. Drop it on a rock? (it will just bounce of) No problems.
It amazes me, that the modern photo community, cant see that a camera is a tool, ment to used and somewhat abused.
Add a few limited primes, like 21mm and 35mm macro and last 77 mm, they all can go in pockets, or a small backpack, and still plenty room for food an water, for a full day of hiking.
And as we all know, the Raw files are just amazing, even the very novice can edit them, with out ruin it.

I just bought the Pentax 100mm F2.8 macro. Its a FF lens that does well on an APSC body (Pentax K50 of mine) and when I upgrade in the future, I dont have to buy a new set of lenses, like I would have to do with Canon. Canon has the M mount, the EOS mount, the R mount etc. And Pentax takes the most realistic photos, without the heavy processing you see in Canon. I want real life and an affordable cost, so I choose Pentax.

I shoot Pentax for 7 years on and off and I really like the cameras and lenses I still have. Unfortunately The AF and MF implementation is unreliable and often not accurate. That really puts me off sometimes. I don't have that problem with Nikon, Leica, Olympus and my good old Samsung NX 500. I use my ltd. primes on my Leica CL now and they work really well on it.

I wish you would not use the word "still" as if we are waiting to change. The camera industry is in trouble thanks to phone cameras : Olympus are going and Nikon are losing money badly. Sony might quit as they could make better profits elsewhere (food mixers?) as their branding will take them anywhere. I think Pentax, Fuji, Canon and Leica will be the only survivors.

Pentax are keeping out of the video/mirrorless mud-fight between Canon and Sony, while Nikon has bankrupted itself trying to keep up. Nevertheless I expect the next Pentax will have 4k video because it comes with the off-the-shelf sensors and chips anyway. Video-oriented cameras are already diverging from stills-oriented ones; I'm glad, and and Pentax will do fine in the stills niche.
