    That was a great, evocative introduction to the game. Very glad you liked it, and thanks for taking the time to put it together! And I am super jazzed you liked it enough to color the covers - that made my day!

    For a one page adventure it does have a nice replayability mechanic with each new hero using different traits and random encounters. A neat little portable adventure game.

    Your hand-coloured covers are a nice idea.
    I like the way that the story progresses through the entries; and free-form character generation is always fun.
    The "why bother" speech is very Elric.

      Thanks! I love the story progress too. Too many solo RPGs relied on players to progress the story themselves, this is such a good way to make it feel organic, almost like there is a DM guiding your through a module!

    I really love the mechanics in the game but the quantity of dice needed does make portability a challenge. I've tried using digital dice rollers but you have to use a side sheet of paper or note pad to note the rolls for rerolls and comparisons.
    The best use of player agency in Trait selection. I started off picking some very specific ones, then tried some classics then chose some I felt were thematic. It's great fun!

    Mel, I may have to go with something like this. I was looking to getting into Basic Fantasy or DCC to do solo but I’m pretty intimidated by being creative on coming up with adventures. I don’t think I could come up with enough material

    Great little booklet system :) could even see me writing an adventure or 2 for something like this.... - one quick question though and might have missed it, but is there a reason not to always try and use the higher skill (bigger dice) traits? (something for having used them all at least once? - or is it for your own flavour etc...)

    • @MelvLee
      @MelvLee  Před 2 lety +2

      You definitely can use the highest traits all the time although you might find the adventure less challenging as a result i.e. like picking a over powered character in a video game :) also it may not fit the narrative at times, i.e. you probably won't be able to use a weapon to solve a riddle etc.
      I personally like to put some of constraints on my character (like Batman decided not to kill etc) and tend to use their most powerful skills the least so that it is a more impactful when I decide to use them!
