Who would have thought Joel Amartey would kick 9 goals? Not many. He had a once in a lifetime game and proves anyone in the AFL is capable of these types of nights.
Back in 1997 Malcolm Blight moved defender Shane Ellen into the forward line on Grand Final day against St Kilda and with only 3 career goals, kicked 5 goals as the Adelaide Crows won their first Premiership in club history.
I remember back in 2012 I was down in Tasmania and saw a big goal effort. This little know guy called Lance kicked 13, I hadn’t heard of him and I’m not sure how many more games he player after that but that was a mammoth effort
You should go back in time a bit. R17 1999 Simon Beaumont kicked 8 in a half for Carlton against Collingwood. Played 179 games and never scored more than 3, and just came out of nowhere to do that.
Joel is capable of great things but can be inconsistent. I predicted that he is likely to kick no goals in the match following his nine goal effort.....not happy at all to say I was right. He still has a way to go.
Not even the most optimistic of Swans fans would expect that. Not true. Since a game against West Coast in 2021 I’ve been waiting for Armary to go berserk. He’ll have a few more big games in his career. Underestimated.
