  • While hunting OTC public land here in Idaho we came across this. It was cool to witness but a bummer all in the same. Wolves after elk. Who knows how far these elk will get pushed. The last two minutes of the video is just wolves howling nothing really to see just hear. Enjoy.

      American fitness The more encounters I have the more I think those old tales of wolves killing people were exaggerated or just feral dogs mistaken for wolves I’ve never felt threatened or know of anyone who was threatened by wolves unless they had dogs with em

    • @americanfitness8215
      @americanfitness8215 Před 5 lety +3

      Cody G while it is true dogs were a huge concern back then, with the reintroduction to yellowstone, and the expansion after, it is now thought that wolves are so terrified of people, because humans nearly wiped them out with poison, modern firearms, and traps creating a sort of temporary hunting pressure, because they were such a big threat. (some scientists think that black wolves are part feral dog.) I’m not saying Wikipedia is a good source, but if you go to the wolf attack page on North America it states there has only been two fatal attacks from healthy wolves recently, the fatal wolf page has at least twenty older eateries where the wolves were never proven healthy or unhealthy, so it is not marked on the national park systems data base and those are not counting the confirmed rabid or sick attacks.

      American fitness I just feel like it goes against everything we know now I read a report that in the 1800s on the Korean Peninsula wolves killed more people then tigers Amur leopards brown bears asiatic black bears combined. what happens if some clown howls and the pack come running over?

  • @ElkNutOutdoorProductions

    Elk still talk with wolves around, not in their present so much but you can still get into plenty of action! This video is with a man & his son, no woman there. I agree the chewing may have been avoided if this had been scripted! We were taking a break on the mountain when out of nowhere the wolves appeared, it caught us right in the middle of snacking. We grabbed the camera & started filming, it was simple as that! I had no idea we had such a good mich on this camera! (grin)

    Ravens like to follow wolves. Once the wolves make a kill the ravens will start calling to other ravens. They will wait for the wolves to feast then it will be their turn. If you are ever able to witness raven behavior I highly recommend. They raise quite a ruckus. I often take note of the ravens. If you get too close they will try to lead you away from a kill. I often check wolf and lion kills for dead heads. I figure out where a kill is from hundreds of yards away. Look out ravens will bust you and notify feeding ravens and they will disperse if you get too close when pin pointing. Cant say for sure these wolves made a kill yet. By patient behavior of the single raven I would say no. Those wolves might push those elk a couple days. But ravens are usually quiet and wait before calling. I dont usually see them screaming and flocking till predator leaves.

    What more could you ask for on a hunt ? Yes it sucks to see potential game move away but, This is going back 1000's of years in time..!!! Just think of how much more game there was back just a few hundred years ago - Millions more elk / deer / bison - everything.....
