    I had my eyes glued to the London engine and I'm amazed at the detail.
    The City of Truro model was never powered in real life. And in this adaption seeing it repurposed as the city engine, we don't see it move, and we don't see it's eyes move either.
    Beautifully detailed, I'm in awe.

    Brilliant job on this TVS-style Gordon Goes Foreign adaptation!
    I was certainly taken aback by a reskin of City of Truro being used as the BCE instead of the planned modified Henry. That's one way of putting his model to good use one last time before turning it into a scrap prop!

    This belongs in a museum! It's beautiful!
    First off I like the little Awdry cameo in the intro. The repurposing of City of Truro's model makes... a lot of sense. The crew definitely would've reused him, better than making him scrap.
    A thing I really like in this that you do is you make every setting busy. Right at the start we see the terminals at Knapford are full. Then we cut to Tidmouth Sheds and the sidings are absolutely full. You can see engines in the back shunting and talking with each other, making the world feel alive.
    SFX, cinematography, and lighting were all perfectly in line with season 4. And I absolutely love the close-up shot of Gordon as he proclaims he'll prove King's Cross is the head station. The shot of Gordon and the express on the viaduct should be framed.
    So much detail on the newspaper as well, most people would just write gibberish on something that's seen for only a few seconds lol.
    This whole video really did feel like an additional episode of season 4, like something that was just shelved because of some issue or another. Well done!
    Side note: You use Premiere in your videos right? Why not adjust the aspect ratio of the project to 1440x1080, so you get a 4:3 video? Not a big deal, just a thought I had about it.

    Normally, I despite adaptations of Gordon Goes Foreign since it's one of those things that has been done to death, but this one actually manages to stand out from the rest.
    There are quite a number of things I liked while watching this, repurposing City of Truro as the Foreign Engine, having Class 40 as the mainland diesel, and the use of Crovan's Gate as a substitute for Vicarstown.
    I also appreciate the effort to make the video as close to an actual classic era episode as possible, down to the lighting and the 4:3 aspect ratio.
    Overall, I enjoyed watching this video. It manages to do a lot of things other adaptations of this story miss out on, the way it's structured into a 4 minute episode, and generally, it was well worth my time watching. Can't wait to see your future content.

    • @Watermillfilms
      @Watermillfilms Před 2 lety +4

      I agree. The choice of changes made it more believable as a tv series adaptation. And attention to detail like the detailed close ups of the human characters and smaller gauge one models, was a nice touch too. It’s clear that a lot of care is made in your films. It makes all the difference. I think your channel is going to get more popular. 🙂

    This is an incredible adaptation of Gordon Goes Foreign! You nailed the Season 4 vibe absolutely perfectly, from the lighting to the sets to even the engines' whistle sounds! I liked how you reused some of the one-off characters for this story - City of Truro w/ smoke deflectors as the Foreign Engine and D261 as the derailed express engine - both of those seem like things that the TVS crew might have done. Consider me a subscriber! :)

  • @_chan.burn.21_
    @_chan.burn.21_ Před 2 lety +26

    Good glory, this was absolutely remarkable!
    I got such Season 4 vibes from this video (my personal favorite season), and all the touches added in from the scenery choice, background characters, lighting, music tracks, and even little details like Gordon using Duck's whistle just tied it all up in a breathtakingly accurate package.
    I also loved the use of City of Truro's model for the Big City Engine, a very unique choice that feels quite fitting considering the model was never used again until Season 5 onwards as a scrap engine.

    This would fit beautifully into Season 4 (could also fit well into Season 5).
    I like how you used Crovan's Gate as the main line terminus, this is something that could have actually worked for the TVS model canon because it looks like a station that could be a terminus, and it would really sell Vicarstown as being the 'far away part of the Island where only the diesels work'. I imagine that regular mainline passenger trains end at Crovan's Gate, while the section between there and Vicarstown is for goods, with occasional special passenger trains running (like the one from Bowled Out, which Duck and Stepney took to Crovan's Gate, and Gordon took the rest of the train further, possibly to Barrow.
    Anyway, just my theory that stemmed from this excellent video, great job once again.

    Always thought it was a nice nod to the engines' heritage that they would know London by their own railway's station there. Given the place's importance and how many railways went there, the number of stations is quite impressive, even more so when you include all the suburbs and the greater area of the city.
    Gordon's of LNER pedigree, so naturally that's King's Cross (I wonder if he ever noticed a scarlet train coming and going from a hidden platform there?)
    Duck is Great Western, so that's Paddington.
    The visitor was from the LMS, so that would be Euston, St. Pancras was an LMS terminal too.

      Is that what the credits were referencing? Those credits seemed awfully strange to me.

      @@RoseSupreme Yeah it's Treasure Planet, I always never have enough credits to fill the whole theme at the end so I like to fill the empty space with Quotes from my favorite films

    I usually avoid watching stuff made by fans because the visual quality is usually quite poor and it hurts the viewing experience.
    This however, was very well done technically and felt quite authentic. The models and the scenery looked great and the whole thing felt more like a real episode.

    Never got why the TVS was always reluctant to make Sodor explicitly off the coast of England. Was it an international thing come Series 3 and Shining Time?
