    With only spoilers, after touchdown I think crosswind directional control is easier with yoke the opposite which lifts the downwind spoiler and counters weathervaning into crosswind. This is counter intuitive to ailerons into the crosswind to keep the wing from coming up. It works in a DC 9.

    • @mu2b60marquise

      The flight controls are directly connected to the control surfaces, so you do get the aerodynamic feedback, although the are very well balanced, so it is not a difficult force to overcome..

      Would have to go back and check, but was a short trip - South Carolina to Cleveland.. Depending on how many people , the plane is 900nm with no winds, I am conservative on fuel, I am sure you could get 1000 out of it if you wanted, and I also don't step climb much to get better range.. my mission is usually 300-700nm

      @mu2b60marquise  Před rokem +2

      Interesting comment - 1) Do you understand the difference between aileron and spoiler based aircraft? That will help you better understand the movements required on the "aileron" movement. Happy to explain if you are not familiar. 2) As for the comment about crashing, I will let that pass as you clearly don't know the history and safety record of the MU2 which has been better than most every turboprop for the last 10 years.

    So it's "FIVE to stay alive?" I get the trims and flaps, but what about the throttles is a forgettable stay alive safety item? Condition lever? CI? NTS? Friction lock? And what about bleed air sources? We used to call those the killer B's for one last time just before take off checks.

      @richardweiner6405 Před rokem

      Hey Dave, enjoyed meeting you in Cleveland! I don’t mean to steal your thunder, but this question has come up on the comments at least a few times. You may have answered it, and if so, I apologize. But since I haven’t seen it, here it is for those who are interested. By the way, outstanding piloting skills,
      MU-2 flying, and video production! If I were not so lazy, I would take over for you since you now fly the Avanti.
      Five to stay alive is:
      “5-4-3-2-1-Ignition”
      5 degrees nose up trim
      4 the knob below rudder trim is FOR the spoiler (roll) trim
      3 degrees left rudder trim
      2(0) degrees flaps
      1 condition levers to ‘Take Off’ position
      Ignition on Auto (or Continuous if heavy rain or slush on runway)

    Would you be comfortable doing an Atlantic Crossing in this aircraft with passengers? 99.9% videos I see are pilots flying empty planes all around by themselves talking about how great it is to fly, which has very little utility to viewers unlike you.

    • @mu2b60marquise
      @mu2b60marquise  Před rokem

      First, the empty plane videos - in my opinion, have more to do with people not wanting to be on camera, and what little extra time/attention you have as a pilot. Technically, you could do that trip, but I think you would find it not cost effective at all..
