The Verve - Blue Pacific Ocean [Permanent Starlight remaster]

- This beautiful unreleased track is from the Forth sessions, recorded in 2008. The original recording was unmastered and at a criminally low volume, so I tried my hand at mastering it (got rid of dead air, subtle EQ, limiting, etc.) to bring it up to the level of "Judas," the best-produced track on Forth IMO. If you enjoy, please buy all of The Verve's recordings, especially A Storm in Heaven and the early EP's!

Original track info: title "Blue Pacific Ocean - clearer vox - slower temp" from album "Cameron and Tim Mixes - 18th May 2008" Track "4 of 8" -- I imagine this means it was recorded with Cameron Jenkins and Tim Bran at the production helm. Maybe someday we'll find out what the other 7 tracks were from this session! - Hudba
Thanks for all the positive feedback on this, everyone! Just finished this cover of 6 O'Clock which many of you might be interested in as well: czcams.com/video/ZRNaUd3PT4w/video.html

No up
Wish the verve kept going- fuck!
it really is sad how so many people don't know this song exists and how good this band actually were, absolutely phenomenal...
yeah?
well fuck those people
be thankful you were touched enough
to be hip, to be wise, to feel, to be Chosen
We Are Here
fuck the dumb
Yeah! I know there's a lot of people who deserves the verve,🖤
Well... they do now... Have my caregivers walking around my house singing it.
@@ianottaway Wouldnt it be better to share this with others?
They are one hit band
A fully mastered, high bitrate release of just this track is all I want now from Verve.
Total utter perfection. Best masterpiece they ever done. All their music are masterpieces. This needs to be put into a spacecraft and sent straight out to the cosmos.
Been sitting here trying to explain it. Couldn’t have put it better myself.
"It's oh so easy"
And they sure make it sound so.
It sounds so much like one of their earlier tracks - got strong "Storm in Heaven" vibes from this. Love it - so ethereal.
This is from the *Forth* sessions?! Good lord. This sounds like it could fit right in with their 1993 stuff perfectly. Beautiful honestly.
Absolutely. IMO the Forth sessions resulted in some of their best ever output, including this, Mama Soul, Judas, Chic Dub / Muhammad Ali, All Night Long, and Columbo. Note how few of those tracks actually made it to the album. Really hope the rest of the unreleased stuff sees the light of day eventually!
You are so right about it fitting in with old stuff
@@PermanentStarlight don't forget numbness!
Captain Rock ruined that album
Seriously? This from theForth sessions? Wow
When you hear all the B-side gems from the "Forth" era, it's almost like they were leaving out all these amazing songs for the true Verve fans. I mean, I feel like they could have been just committing to producing Forth to fulfill their contract and purposefully eliminating any songs that could have propelled them just so they wouldn't ever sell out to the mainstream circus. Just listen to "All ways are Maybes", "Sweet and Sour" "All Night Long" "Tina Turner" and even the "Thaw Session". I honestly don't even listen to the Forth album, but continue to come back to these amazing songs which never made it on the album. And, as I true hard core verve fan, I am glad they never did. Thanks mates. You made music to take me through life and bring me memories that I will always cherish.
Everything you said is the way I feel and what I do also. Cheers from one true Verve fan to another.
I 've been a massive fan since the late '90s and thought I had heard all the best Verve moments, then last night I heard the original "Brake Lights", and now this track, and realised that there is even more than I thought. It boggles my mind that tracks of this calibre were not featured more prominently in their catelogue- I can't even find them on Spotify ffs! But at least I am hearing them now. Thanks for those tracks you mentioned, going to chase them up!
Ma Ma Soul too! Absolutely one of their all-time bests IMO.
A real gem.
One of The Verves greatest songs / sublime track ✌
What a beautiful piece of art!
come back to this again. CANNOT believe this wasn't on the album, actually amazing, contemporary and moving.
Hace más de 15 años que la escucho y siempre vuelvo cuando quiero un viaje tibio, real y místico !
This is so much better than literally any song on Forth it's not even funny. Why couldn't the reunion album have sounded like THIS instead of all that bloated, boring crap? Mind-blowing.
Richard wants to be the star and have his boring MOR songs dominate the later albums.
Yup.
@@psflipper - so true...
Amazing, and hauntingly beautiful...
So dreamy, so gorgeous 😍 💖❤
Just shows how amazing the verve where, amazing track. I miss the verve
Gorgeous song. Absolutely should have been on the album! I love the Forth B-sides so much more than the album itself unfortunately. Also, does this song remind anyone else of the beginning of Cocteau Twins' "Cherry Coloured Funk"?
exactly thats what i thought. cocteau twins.
In an unfortunate way it kinda reminds you of what they still were capable of. Imagine an album of this…
Cocteau Twins vibes for sure...in an AMAZING way!!!
Verve at their best.. pure bliss!+
Love the concert hall, slight echo and how Rich’s voice adapts over the mellow, low tone psychedelic music
You go back and just listen to the b-sides alone just an unbelievable band a sum of all their parts and probably the most underrated UK band of all time … I’m 43 now and still listen to storm in heaven everyday since I was 13 when it was released on my birthday 21st of June 93 longest day of the year greatest band of my lifetime thank you so much guys
These are amazing song absolutely beautiful ballad and Mr Ashcroft is the best singers!!!!
It´s perfect! Bring The Verve back!
Love it I thought it was storm in heaven era outtake just shows you forth had them at inspired best
One-Word: Hypnotic!
Sounds so amazing!
It was never for sale / released, so you can't buy it. Send me a message via my website and I can share.
Oi, McCabe - the Cocteau Twins want their guitar sound back.......
They should be privileged he used it
This song is like a mantra, the Verves version of Om mani padme um. It evokes blue imagery. Its deeply enchanting. I have played it endlessly since discovering it mere weeks ago. Only superlatives do it justice.
Even if it's from the Forth sessions, it sounds like "Verve" EP. Anyway, amazing job! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this beautiful song.
Reminds me star sail at the beginning💕 that druggy rock psychedelic guitar in the wilderness sound💫
Great work on the mastering. Cheers!
Absolute masterpiece !
A truly masterpiece
they could have made forth a beautiful soaring majestic album and something great to go out on that a band as good as they were deserved. perfect band when they craft songs like this. its ohh so easy!!!
shit happens, no?
RA wanted to attempt to save his sad solo career instead
Fucking amazing ❤❤
Thanks very much for remastering!!
Cheers for the remastered effort.
masterpiece
love all the early EP's!
Beautiful song, how or why they left this, Ma Ma Soul and Muhammad Ali off of Fourth and put Ashcroft penned watery ballads such as I See Houses etc on instead, I'll never know, probably record label politics being responsible. Thanks for putting up such a great version of this song
David Brown They were left off Forth because of Ashcroft.
Rustin Cohle Yep. Unfortunately the reunion wasn't a democratic situation at all. +David Brown, fully agree, this and Ma Ma Soul are some of my favorite Verve tracks of all time, and I'm heavily biased towards their early stuff. I do love the piano line and Nick's e-bow on Houses though! Onward Black Submarine...
Fortunately we have the ability now to programme our own track listing :)
david brown - this is totally true i see houses nott able to be the forth by simplicity. however sitt and wonder love is noise and more is certainly a smash but i dosent like the noise epics. in a matter of fact how does
I like I see houses
perfect
Wow! That's amazing sounding.
Goodwork, great job!
If they released this today it would go to number 1
Thanks so much for this. Wow
Excellent work fella
Great trippy , chill tune. Love V

Nick McCabe
Nice!
Thanks
cool song and beutiful
How can I buy this re-recording? They're my all-time favorite band.
Wow, this should have been on FORTH
Acabo de descubrirla. Y es muy sensual.
Perverse that this is an out-take from an album that I probably listened to once and discarded. This is infinitely better than anything on the record. Weird. What were they up to?
robin Guthrie should be proud
Beautiful haunting song, why was this left off Forth??? Thanks for uploading.
I asked the same question, why!
Because it sounds like Talk Talk.
@@t3br00k35 No, it's because one member pulled rank and dictated the track list.
Also I'm not hearing what your hearing with the Talk Talk comparison. Big fan of theirs, listen to their last 3 albums a lot. I don't hear the similarity here.
@@triptothemoon8171 the bass line is reminiscent of Life’s What You Make It.
So Nick got the quadraverb out for this? Sure sounds like it.
Wow, heavily inspired from Cocteau Twin’s “blue bell knoll”. Elizabeth Fraser needs to sing this.
Can you upload this on wetransfer please?? 🙂

Life’s what you make it - Talk Talk
it really isn't though is it?
@@vnkman4391 the riff is similar.
@@t3br00k35 The chord progression is the same for the lives what you make it line and that's it. its a very commonly used progression. the chorus and bridge are completely different dude.
@@t3br00k35 I agree life what you make it is a great tune though
Yeah I think this is an awesome track. Don’t get me wrong. But the riff is probably subconsciously from the talk talk riff. I mean they have another unreleased track called Tina Turner which is similar to a Tina turner song. Thunder dome I think. They clearly didnt release it for a reason.
Cocteau Twins
Heaven or Las Vegas
Richard sounds a bit like Mark Hollis here.
Sounds a lot like Cherry Coloured Funk by Cocteau Twins
Damn ! I was thinking same here !
Probably why it didint get released.
Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I'm guessing the reason it was never released on Forth, was because it sounds like a slowed version of "Take a Picture" by Filter:
czcams.com/video/h8MAHQhKe7Q/video.html.
Don't get me wrong, I love Verve, & Blue Pacific Ocean is an amazing song. Maybe its coincidence?
State of that track. Have a word with yourself 😂
Not to burst your bubble but This sounds like Cherry colored funk by cocteau twins.
What the hell were you smoking? Jesus christ lol!
BUH/BUH/BUH
I seriously doubt this comes from the Forth sessions...
Nick McCabe confirmed multiple times that it did...
Definitely is from the Forth sessions, 100% without doubt.
It is along with Ma Ma Soul All Night Long Chick Dub Muhammad Ali etc Forth could been a trip 😐
