      Some small towns don't have a dirt track to pull on. So they close down a street and pull on it. This particular pan on the sled has either cottonwood or popple wood planks under it. Some have oak planks and I've even seen rubber on the bottom of 1 too.

    Which material got used to brake on the sled? rubber?

      Wood Planks. These are made out of Cottonwood or Popple......other sleds use Oak. I have seen them use rubber also.

      Mark Larson Ok, thank you. I was wondering because in Germany the tractors and sleds are only pulling on soil/earth, never on a hard surface or a street.

      we pull on dirt also. But some small towns/villages don't have a dirt track so they just use the street to pull on.
