    while adhering to grammar Sri Emani has new insights as to how to present a song touching hearts.We miss him very badly.

    Very decent - appears quite devotional. Many artists make this composition attractive only for purpose of audience happiness by playing in different styles, speed etc. with less importance on devotional style. But Emani sankara sastry's touch sounds devotional which is only correct for such composition. Neither it is speed nor slow - but exactly hitting. No doubt Emani was gifted. The original composer patnam had indeed composed it from a devotional style ONLY.

    This is janya ragam of sankarabaranam ragam. the arohanam is sa ri ma daa ni ga pa sa
    avarohanam is sa ni da pa ma ga ri sa.
    the jumping of swarams from their original position gives this ragam the exquisite beauty.

    I think the name of the raga is Kathana Kuthookalam in Sanskrit which can be translated as Expression of Delight . The composition perfectly exemplifies the spirit of the raga .

    I feel Kadhana is actually Kathana meaning narration and Kuthoohalam means expectant anxiety....just like u expect the ending of a thrilling novel or film...probably the the raaga envisioner was expecting a thrilling experience....

    kathana in sanskrit means "A narrative or story".. kathana kuthoohalam means "An ecstatic story" ... Indeed, after listening to Emani garu's rendition of Pattnam Subramanya Iyer's immortal masterpiece, I can attest to the kuthoohalam...

    i think it means "desire towards rapid movement". it was meant to describe the moment of troops during the time of war when their movements are especially rapid.

    Kadana Kuthoohalam is a ragam that was meant to imitate the sounds when a kingdom was preparing for war. So it is fast paced and peppy. Kadana Kuthoohalam in that context means curiosity for movement or curiosity for action.

  • @chitrayudhghatak
    @chitrayudhghatak Před 11 lety +1

    I suppose you are correct. The other theory being floated is that it is a warcry, but it is a very karnapriya raga, the rasa being shringara. Why would soldiers want to listen to something so pleasant, relaxing and soothing before a battle.

    • @AnanthNat
      @AnanthNat Před 7 lety

      Chitrayudh Ghatak you have a point. they should avoid all music and just focus on a warcry to the accompaniment of yuddha beri.

    • @TheMCVR
      @TheMCVR Před 6 lety

      Chitrayudh Ghatak it's not "Kadana" means war, but it's Kadhana means narration.

    What does Kadhana Kuthoohalam mean?

  • @ramanaraomuddu
    @ramanaraomuddu Před 11 lety

    it is not 'kathana 'it is 'kadana 'means war or fight.'kutoohalam 'means enthusiasm or curiosity. because the song is fast paced and sounds like a marching song ,it is (raagaa)named as 'kadana kutoohalam '. -ramanarao.

    Kadana in telugu means yuddha or war. The pace, tempo suggests that this raga is " eager to go for a war.

    Is that a second veena playing along with a tiny delay? Or are those overtones? It doesn't sound like overtones because there is a plucking sound too. Whatever it is, it adds to the flavour

    • @Sivarouven
      @Sivarouven Před 7 lety +4

      I think u mean the talam strings which definitely gives embellishment! if not that, sometimes sir is playing double shadyam strings, means the madhya sa and manthra sa strings are plucked simultaneously!
