    Well, these questions are typical in a Dutch job interview (sollicitatiegesprek).
    Xing has her job interview today. How well is she prepared after her sesssion with job coach Natasha?
    And how about you? Are you planning to work in the Netherlands? If you're future employer has a job listing in Dutch and if they invite you for an interview sending a Dutch written e-mail, then be prepared that the job interview will be in Dutch. Xing should stand up and clearly let the man know he is not allowed to ask that question.
    Xing will score bonus points or being direct and honest.
    Xing gets the job.
    Xing now makes good money so the Dutch boyfriend can stay at home and play FIFA all day on PS4.

      As a Dutch person, direct as I am, I would like to help you, so I hope you won't be insulted when I improve your sentence.
      "Ik ben aan het leren Nederlands te spreken, ik ben van plan in te burgeren"
      Of beter nog,
      "Ik ben Nederlands aan het leren en ben van plan in te burgeren"
      Of misschien bedoelde je:
      "Ik ben de Nederlandse taal aan het leren, omdat ik van plan ben in te burgeren"
      Good luck, you're well on your way

    The Dutch people don't understand the difference between blandness and directness, do they? I don't think the Dutch are direct, I have lived in another country where people were truly direct. The Dutch are bland or simple or undiplomatic, and I like it a lot :) - Also, "falling in love with the country/culture" might be something that the Dutch employers love to hear. Probably a legacy from the the county's colonial past. Are you ready to tell a white lie to get a job?

    kind of inappropriate / harassment of him to make such personal questions, dontcha think? lol. and immediately assuming she's heterosexual as well... not very Dutch....

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 Před 5 lety +1

      But I would say that it's definitely an example of "directheid," wouldn't you? How would you respond to such a question (which, by the way, is also a no-no in the US!)?

    • @rafaeldeoliveira3676
      @rafaeldeoliveira3676 Před 5 lety +1

      @@legaleagle46 yes totally, but i guess directheid can go right or wrong. it just sounds like he's coming up to her with these questions about "a boyfriend'.. so embarrassing.

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 Před 5 lety +2

      @@rafaeldeoliveira3676 Oh, I completely agree with you. He crossed a line, and Xing knows it. And as I said, it's also a HUGE legal no-no here in the US. Interviewers here definitely know better than to ask questions of this sort, especially of a female candidate!

    • @ishakak147
      @ishakak147 Před 2 lety

      @@rafaeldeoliveira3676 It is not really about him wanting to get close to this lady or something. It is mostly about asking this women candidate. Interviewer can be man or woman but it is not allowed to ask, especially women this kind of question. Why? Because female candidate can be turned down if the interviewer learns that she plans to have family. It means that she can get pregnant in some time, which means going on a long leave, then having maternity leave, which means that company will lose some money.
      Interviewers prefered single guys or married woman who already have children, because there is a lower chance that they will need a longer leave.
