- Resident Evil has become synonomous with speedrunning the last couple of years and Resident Evil Village is no exception. In this video i explain the basicas of how new games are routed and how a speedrun becomes what it is, a lot of tehse strats are already outdated by the time i posted this video but that is exactly what i suspected would happen

Not about resident evil but, did you ever used the devil may cry 3 glitch that lets yoy skip the vergil fights by shooting continously as the fight begins?
I was able to do that in the special edition
I completed Vos on normal new game not new game plus because I thought that new game plus never even existed so I just jumped in and did it all on normal new game
Pretty sure most of the dislikes are because you thought it was ok to put an ad every 4 min.
you need cheat engine to count to 10 or whatever on VoS difficulty? seriously...

I just came from a stream where some guy places it and literally in the placing animation he stepped on it 😄
A tactic that was found by being stupid enough to try place a mine when there are already enemies surrounding you. Turns out it deals bugger all damage to you if you do that.
Yeah, it's just the easiest way to use them. I accidentally dropped my first mine too close to an enemy and couldn't get away in time, but the mine did zero damage to me. Once I learned that, it was all downhill from there...

I did village of shadows and 3 previous play throughs with unlimited ammo on the dragoon and the wolfbane (later on) and it was still dam near impossible😭

Distortion2 has tried to skip the boss by using a cheat engine and, apparently, the game softlocks later on in the run if the boss is not dead. It sounds kinda hard to find a skip tbh
Moreau isn't so bad, it's just the irritating gauntlet you have to run to get to him, and on console the prompts need some work.

I've never speedrun any game before, but I've already finished RE8 5 times. I'm really interested in giving this a shot. I've already been lurking on the Speedrun forums and keeping up with all the newly discovered strats.
Who knew, a shotgun that was historically famous for its slam-fire, is still highly effective in a game that features its slam-fire XD
I wouldn't really call it slamfire, we don't know when he's pulling the trigger and honestly the animation is pretty broken if you are mashing left click to shoot asap. It would be cool if he could actually slamfire it when you have it fully loaded which would make more sense. Its cool to see them do an animation where you load a round into the chamber to fire it immediately, but then if you let the reload play out he still pumps it after, ejecting that round...
Its still cool, but their animation system is still pretty limited and whats cool isn't really slam firing.

@@johntravoltage959 i don't know much about how guns are actually handled in real life but it's interesting to know about features or habits that get you using the weapon in varying ways like that, such as pumping the pump action shotgun after chambering a new bullet instead of before chambering, or other such things.
I did the speedrun achievement for this game (I never really speedrun anything tbh), and I have to say it ignited my interest in running this game even faster. Amazing work documenting this, and I would love to see an update once the full route is complete!
Dude same! My initial playthrough took 12 hours. When I decided to speedrun it I got 1 hour 45 minutes.
Honestly the speed run achievement isn't really a speed run achievement. It should have been put to 2 hours because 3 is really easy

Chris's section made me want to punch a boulder with how hard it was only having the Dragoon with infinite ammo to kill enemies
@@jonathanjoestar3785 just ran laps starting from ladder waiting for recharge. Stunning with grenades when needed. Even Uries fight directly after was fairly easy. Heisenburg fight gave me a real run for my money however, but made me appreciate the fight a lot more. Distancing yourself with rocket launcher and stun locking with weak points felt so good
@@chewruru yeah, I got it eventually, but it was really annoying until I got another checkpoint and kept getting screwed by one of the last lycan I had to get rid of before advancing. Also, I feel you with Heisenberg. I thought that was hard too.

@@fun6264 i did 2 days ago village of shadows difficulty and damn heisenberg fight was the hardest part! the part with chris you gotta fight waves of enemies at the statue, i got inf ammo dragoon, but i did not notice until the hardet difficulty, about the 1 house behind the statue and the house one the left! both had 1 red barrel to blow up and ammo and medk its and grenades! made the fight wayyy easier. and urias mkII is NOT hard fight.
Literally as soon as I saw the word "Wolfsbane" I knew it was gonna work crazy on the lycans
I mean it works against any boss / normal enemy its just that for this one boss having it was found to have a better time save over normal fighting. since the magnum does 1900 damage and yes it means 1900 in terms of real damage value. Meaning every shot + lets say 200 (this might be a gross bonus) since they are headshots do 2100 every shot, in the clip they have 10 bullets meaning they do ~21000 damage once they are done shooting the boss. so yeah, it just does a lot of damage in general.

I ran into this weird "occurrence," after entering Caste Dimitrescu while speedrunning, and meeting Lady D and her daughters. Immediately after climbing down, I ran through the doors, and encountered all four enemies but invisible. I got so scared I couldn't register what had happened until I was already dead. I didn't see any of them, but I heard all three sisters laugh, and Lady D retract her claws. I was scared because I knew for a fact that room was safe, however this time it wasn't and I shit my pants. I have never been able to recreate this, and haven't been able to phrase this properly for a google search. Clearly it's a bug, but I haven't found anyone else who found the same issue.

Capcom hasn’t missed, with resident evil since 6. 7 was a great horror game, re2 remake was a great re game and re3 remake was good even though people acted like it wasn’t which is stupid

The shotgun thing blew my mind. Might help bump up my mercenary scores.
Right now my strategy is selling the handgun and all the handgun ammo and rifle ammo and that gives you just enough to buy the best shotgun. It basicaly one hits all the enemies but it has a slow ass fire rate. Using the reload trick I bet I can get a full level combo
using this trick like the old CS awp weapon swap between shots makes you bypass weapon swapping with shotgun to get better score lol I'm surprise this was left in by the devs as most shooting games, especially FPS always make it to where you can bypass reload or firing rate using these tricks.
The best way to get a huge score is using the pistol because It doesn't insta kill and you can keep shooting enemies to keep your combo going
I beat all the normal Mercenary runs SSS with the best pistol and it was fairly easy. They fucking drown you in pistol ammo and that thing shreds basically everything in its path. Also that trick wont work for the best shotgun because it doesn't take shells it reloads a whole mag. It WOULD work for the second shotgun though. The best tip I can give is always pick Agility in the normal maps. Combo is everything and you need to get to the next enemy fast. Once you hit the 2 maps literally everything you know about the game mode get's thrown out the window and all you have to focus on is staying alive and trying to keep a consistent combo. Factory 2 is the worst one but after that the next map is considerably easier.

I love speed running RE games. Even tho I am not a official speed runner. I love seeing people stream and figure out routes. I love seeing how to skip certain stuff and see very interesting strats for bosses. Good video

I was just looking for a new video from this guy
One big difference from RE4 and This game is that in R8 you can actually buy ammo from the vendor. RE4 you have to keep using same gun to kill enemies and make them spawn more of same ammo type that you are using as your main weapon, which kinda sucks since you have to farm ammo by using weapons with same ammo type. Here you can just stock up instant at the vendor with money. Also allows you to skip collecting ammo in speed runs.

Seeing Skyward Sword go from 5-6 hours to around 1.5 hours was incredibly fun to watch. Looking forward to RE8 speed run evolution as well

The only challenge in village of shadows was the perfect big local boi chilling in the basement, 1 of my 3 deaths was right there because I backed up into the corner to camp. The other deaths was in the lady dimitrescu chase and when I forgot to unlock the lower main hall door so after I went down the elevator her thicc hips trapped me in. I literally never died after this
As far as I can tell, the categories will be:
CASUAL STANDARD HARDCORE VOS
NEW GAME NEW GAME+
And then there’ll be categories for all the challenges people do, like knife only and no damage
the official categories go live on the 28th but from what the mods tell me it will be, Casual Hardcore and VOS, New Game, New Game +, Any% and Glitchless, 100%, Knife only

This is the first game that’s made me REALLY want to get into speed running, may look into it this summer after I graduate
Resident Evil games are one of the only series I absolutely love to speedrun, so I'm very excited to see all of the ways people find to the shorten run times :)
I haven't even gotten to Moreau's section of the game yet. I've been dallying on playing it because I'm really skittish with horror games (as much as I want to go back, life keeps pulling me away anyway). I'm really looking forward to seeing how the rest of the game plays out, and following the speedruns of it!
I will say this the 2nd lord fight is more amnesia feel then find a puppet 3 times and you don't use ammo for it just a heads up

The ADS can be disabled on the big werewolf boss by stunning him during specific animations with flash bangs.

um, you might just need a better computer since for that to happen you would need to go really really fast on a computer good enough to run the game itself. and my computer isn't even that good but after I beat the game and got a lot of the achievements/challenges I messed around with cheat engine hacks like speed boosts where I was able to go 5 TIMES AS FAST and the game NEVER lagged. also unless you are doing it on a harder difficultly than casual you don't need to be that fast. Dude..i just found ur Channel and this video is absolutely amazing bro....I didnthe village of shadows run but I used the infinite ammo stake lol and even that was not easy but I managed to run it fast considering I beat the damn fame like 8 times before lol I ran it on ps5 soo wasn't speed running but I loved the game so much and learned the ins and outs of everything from item placement to beating the game in what would be a good time for me. Anyway just saying I'm intrigued to give this a try myself now inseriously enjoyed r e village u got me over here thinking I should try to speed run it. More interesting to see this after seeing the one vid of CarcinogenSDA beating the game damage-less on VoS (not a speedrun but takes alot to do no damage to yourself) and take it to how much their is to do more for a speedrun. So idk if this will help with anything. But talking about out of bounds. During the Moreau sequence, in the one area where you have to push the cart into the water, raise a platform and then push a second cart into the water to form a bridge, if you stand at the very edge of the platform after you push the first cart and look down, you will get a prompt to push the second cart (that's currently underwater still) and it will toss you out UNDER the map with completely free roam.

Hey man - Good stuff will be subbing. Wanted to let you know that you can see some spoilers in the stream-chat at around 6:42, might be more in other areas where you show the chat too. Since you went to all the trouble of leaving out some fights to prevent spoilers, I figured you might want to know.
I let out the loudest "HA-!" during the intro when I saw that out-of-bounds trick! It was a mixture of surprise and amusement. Surprise because I didn't know what happened and then suddenly you're OOB and amusement because of how quickly it had been found! As you said it's only been a week or so.
Out of bounds is cheating.
Thank god for that magnum. lol because village of shadows would have been nightmare without it lol just beat it today. Didn’t struggle at all luckily until the second half and even with infinite weapons it gets hard. Lol my hats off to the guys that do this straight up and defeat these tank like enemies. Especially that quickly

amazing work, interesting and entertaining to watch ! I was so looking forward to see new game runs of this game, I cannot wait until we see it at GDQ or something. The routing and the insane ammo management required for beating the game in VOS is nuts. I must say I struggled myself on my 1st play through the game in Hardcore, a boss like lady D in Bloodborne form literally ate up all my ammo ahaha.

i wanna how speedrunners break house beneviento. All i found is you can turn back after 2 pillars to make the baby appear, circle around towards the breaker and use the baby's route to open the door faster. The second one is after hiding in the bed, after the baby enters and stop, when the baby made 2 steps, you can already go out(even though you will be touching the baby's hind leg) and make your way towards the elevator. This is the only part where im interested in cause it's so boring, replayability-wise.

I think this might be one of the first games I actually speedrun. I'm terrible at routing but I've always loved speedrunning and tbh this is one of the few games I can reliably beat stupid fast and know inside and out so quickly. Plus it's a very short run. I even had a sub 2 hour run (though it was on casual and it was on NG+, of course, so I'm guessing it's not that impressive).

So the mines on moreau *should* deal 8100 damage. But in the clip they seem to deal 10k damage. What's up with that?

I wonder if quick swapping between weapons after each shot for bosses would be faster than the current method. Similar to how quick swapping works in doom eternal where it cancels reload animations
The Duke helped Ethan cheat in this game lmao Dude literally giving him military grade modern weapons to take down the castle full of monsters. Without the Duke giving him this arsenal, Ethan would be SOL in fighting against the pantheon.
