    • @lincolas5310
      @lincolas5310  Před 6 měsíci

      Its a lot more complicated. You can export each frame as a 360 still from Insta360 Studio and then use an editing software to create a 360 degree timelapse from all the still images. Then you can export the video from your editing software (still a 360 degree video) and import it back into Insta360 Studio to reframe. Hopefully Insta360 can optimize this in the future!

      @@lincolas5310 This camera is new to me so I am shaky with terms. I suppose a simpler question is what do you set the camera settings at and what do you set in post. On my camera screen it looksike i have 3 choices for field of view... 360, 150 and what looks like 16 x 9.

    • @lincolas5310
      @lincolas5310  Před 2 lety

      No worries! For camera settings, I always shoot at 5.7k resolution and 30 fps. This is the highest quality you can get with your camera. After some testing, I have figured out what the field of view options mean. The one that looks like 16 x 9 only works with photos and is actually the panorama button. The 150 degree view is like a standard action camera. It basically only shoots with one of the lenses. This means that you cannot use reframing in post production. The final one is is the 360 degree mode. I always use this whenever I go out to shoot and I recommend that you do to. Using the 360 mode allows you to reframe your footage in any direction in post production and is super cool. Hope this helps!

      @@lincolas5310 perfect, thank you! That was kind of what I was thinking. Use the full view and edit out what i didn't want. The main reason I was interested in the more narrow depth of field is we are supposed to have some extraordinary nothern lights shows this weekend. However depending on where i setup i could be in conflict with the moon for the exposure. I would only need the front 180 degrees and the moon would be behind me, but could sill influence the entire exposure. I am wondering if I can either block the rear lens or use some sort of ND material to lessen the impact would work... thjngs to experiment with. Thanks for your help. I now have some ideas to keep me out of trouble for a bit. 🙂

  • @blamutube

    How did you get those longer trails? I used 20s exposure and 3s rest. After 510 photos (about 3.5 hrs), there are trails but the "tails" are not very long.

    • @lincolas5310
      @lincolas5310  Před 2 lety

      I use the starlapse mode on the camera. I think the issue for you is your settings. I'm not sure what the exposure is set to on the Insta360 starlapse setting but I do know that the interval is 1 photo per minute. When the Insta360 app puts the starlapse video together, it overlays a fixed amount of photos. For simplicity, lets say 10 (I don't actually know, this is just an example.) Since you only set the interval to 3 seconds, the program is only overlaying 30 seconds of footage (3 seconds x 10 photos). This means that the star trails only show 30 seconds of star movement resulting in very short star trails. Using a 1 minute interval however, takes the overlay time up to 10 minutes (1 minute x 10 photos). This means that the star trails reflect 10 minutes of star movement resulting in longer star trails. For good results and ease of use, I recommend just using the starlapse video mode. If you are still confused, just let me know! I am happy to help!

    • @blamutube
      @blamutube Před 2 lety

      @@lincolas5310 Thanks for the reply. I was taking the starlapse in the city, so auto mode is no go because it will only take a 3s exposure for each shoot. However you did give me some ideas to try. If you don't mind, could you check if your starlapses taken from the city have much shorter tails?

    • @lincolas5310
      @lincolas5310  Před 2 lety +1

      Oh I get it now. I actually haven’t taken any starlapse videos in a city except for the one shown in the video. I can barely even see the stars in that one so I can’t check the length of the star trails (sorry ☹️). I also haven’t experimented with manual settings but I will have to try that out. For your city starlapse, I think you should set the interval to a minute and the exposure to whatever you think is best. Let me know how your next one turns out!

      Yes starlapse mode should be correct. Did you connect your camera to a power bank? Did you make sure that the power bank is at full power before shooting your starlapse? It could have run out of battery and died in the middle of the night. Regarding the overexposed image, did you set up your starlapse too close to any light source? Was the moon too big? These are all some possible factors as to why your starlapse didn’t work. Hope this helps!

      I mentioned how to edit the starlapse at timestamp 1:17. The insta360 app automatically puts the starlapse together if you click the starlapse effect on the shot lab page. When doing this, make sure your camera has the micro SD card with the starlapse photos inserted into your camera. For the settings, simply use the starlapse setting. I show you how to find this setting at timestamp 0:27. Basically, the starlapse mode is a pre programmed interval photo setting. It sets the exposure perfect for capturing stars and takes a photo every minute. Hope this clarifies everything.
