    Wow, I cannot thank you enough for this teaching. I read Romans 9 and totally saw it in the wrong light. I prayed, with tears in my eyes, asking God to show me what he really meant by this chapter because I knew that the premise of him selecting some and not others completely went against what I believed in my heart about his love and what scripture taught. This teaching really opened my eyes to what the Lord was saying. Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to teach this and put it out there for us to see ❤️

    When you said “cosmic lottery,” I laughed; I had used the same phrase recently when trying to describe Calvinism. I have recently been doing my own research on the topic by studying the Bible and looking at context and using cross referencing (I am not Calvinist and don’t understand how Calvinism is biblical or in God’s character). Commentaries are definitely insightful and helpful!

    WOW! The explanation on this video was amazing and made so much sense. I always struggled understanding this chapter because my interpretation of it was incorrect. It was my incorrect interpretation of it vs God's true character; Knowing God's character and his goodness I knew that who he is was clashing with how I was understanding this chapter. You broke it down in such an amazing way that shows the way I see his character is so true and fault is in the way I was reading it. It's like in my head as I read it I'm like (Lord the way I'm understanding this doesn't sound like who you really are so I know I'm missing it). Thank you so much, Our God is gracious, merciful, and simply amazing. Blessings.

    Remember the apostle was seeing and feeling with Gods love. Simply by telling of his love and concern for Israel and how he grieved for them. It was with the love of God she’d abroad in his heart. Philippians chapter 2 verse 3 says “Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.” Verse 5 “Let this mind be in you, which was in Christ Jesus.” These verses are not as it were lip service but these things is what our Savior felt. He was lowly in heart and humbled himself. And the esteeming others better than yourself is an actual experience for the believer; it happens when one is filled with the Holy Spirit.

    Paul already dealt with what qualifies us for salvation. He’s not addressing that here. It comes up here only because there is no other way of salvation, so in a text that’s clearly soteriological, faith is necessarily included but it’s not the focus. Verse 6 tells us what he’s addressing here. He’s answering the objection that the word of God has failed because the Jews by and large have rejected the Messiah. The short answer is “for they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel.” He then goes at length unpacking that statement for 3 chapters while also answering further objections that come up along the way.

The only other translation I find is rejected. And what is your response to Hebrew 12:17 ? Doesn’t this show the blessing wasn’t physical as you suggest but rather spiritual? And where do you draw this lottery idea from? Wouldn’t God electing mean he chooses instead of random chance of lottery? And wouldn’t those who are hardened as you say then not seek to be chosen since they’re hardened towards God? Then your whole idea of “ you better hope you’ve been chosen “ wouldn’t apply

    This chapter clearly states what the words actually say. 9:11 “though they have not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God’s election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls.”God does not rely on our decisions to bring salvation and to become sons and daughters through adoption from the sacrifice of his only begotten son Jesus Christ. For he is almighty, all powerful, all knowing, and omnipresent and has no limitations. For he calls us to himself he’s the one who opens our hearts by his Holy Spirit. He does this so we may not boast in our choices and actions we take for he hates pride which brings less glory to him. For he is the potter and we are the clay and he made us who we are. There is no glory to bring unto ourselves for we’re dead in our sin and through God comes the resurrection. For he breathed life into us and now we our his elected which means his chosen! We are not to lean on our own understanding but trust in God and not question God’s perfect will. Who are we to do that it says that right there in 9:20. I rebuke this teaching…. It may feel good to hear but we cannot lean on our own feelings but trust in Gods perfect will. Amen

  • @ReformedlyGuy
    @ReformedlyGuy Před rokem +2

    Empty rhetoric that sounds very pious in giving God the credit for salvation all the while retaining a self-determined fate counter the entire thrust of Romans 8, 9, 10 and 11. God did not just choose the mechanism of grace or the nations through which Christ would come, Ephesians 1 tells us, along with Romans 8 that we, individually were chosen. This supposed condition of faith upends what Paul really intends, namely that God acts uncaused, that his mercy is unconditional that he loves unconditionally. We are not loved on condition of our faith but before we were ever born, God decide to either love me or not. This is the scandal… in your version, there’s no real scandal, faith makes it plain that there is a reason that God can save or damn.. mystery resolved scandal done away with! No, faith will not do as the explanation of why Pauls point was universally offensive… God’s prerogative and rule over the history of man and his guarantee of a remnant seems unfair… you simply cannot account for the data present in Romans 9.

    So much mental gymnastics here. So much cognitive dissonance looking to be relieved because yeah, it IS bad. Everyone below thinking they "interpreted" it wrong. As if it needed "interpreting." If God wanted to say it your way nothing was stopping him. It's quite clear and it's gross, and I want nothing to do with a person or God or anything acting like that. You never did explain away the word hate. He didn't just say hey I'm gonna buck the system and put the younger in charge. He said HATE. If he wanted to just say it's not about pedigree he could have said that. It wasn't a riddle. It's jarringly, disturbingly clear. And even you say wellllll ok sooooometimes he does things like this (vessels of wrath fitted for destruction/dishonor), but just not universally so. First, that's an assumption on your part. Second, doing it some of the time would still be gross. Y'all can have this god, but count me out.

      @@timdodenhoff7942 That's ridiculous and I'm not going to waste my time talking to someone who believes God is a murderer. Romans 9 doesn't support the calvanist doctrine, that doctrine isn't found in scripture at all. You don't understand the bible, because instead of relying on the Holy Spirit to teach you, you're relying on John Calvin, a man who clearly didn't understand the God he claimed to believe in. The bible says, It is not the intention of God that ANY man should perish, but that ALL should come to Christ. That's His desire, of course not all would come, because some (by their own will), would reject Him, but He desires all to be saved. God didn't create some men just to send them to hell, that's absolutely ludicrous to think of God like that. And by saying that, you're calling God a hypocrite. Imagine, God is telling us to love one another, even our enemies and then turns around and hates man to the point that He deliberately sends some people into eternal death, for having done nothing btw, He just made it that way, isn't that a foolish doctrine?. You think that's the good news of Jesus Christ?. That's wickedness and disgusting twisting of the Gospel.
      So, you can continue believing in John Calvin's version of God, I prefer to believe in the true and living God, the God who IS love, who gave Himself for the redemption of humanity. The God who says, whosoever will, let him come.

    A wrong understanding of this chapter. What this man says is nonsense. If one wants to understand this read “The Justification of God” by John Piper.
