    Who is Ron Spomer
    For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion - the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me - from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

    I'll run 556 in my 223 bolt rifle all day. There will never be an issue.

    77 grain bullets are very common they are usually a match grade but not limited to tracer rounds. 1:7 twist is absolutely the most common there is out followed by the 1:8 barrel

    1in7 twist was for the M856 tracer round. 77 grain is the MK262 round with the Sierra Match King bullet.

    Not a pressure issue, not a case size disparity...it's about the throat length in a 223 being too short.

      Which will lead to higher than normal pressures when fired.

    Ron I believe that i must correct you on that statement. A 5.56 cartridge has a higher preasure rating than the 223. So it isnt safe to shoot 5.56 ammo in a rifle that chambered only for the 223. On the other hand it is safe to use 223 ammo in a rifle thats chambered for the 5.56.

      its perfectly safe... in fact i challenge you to find a single report online of any 223 blowing up from a factory good 556 ammo.
      the differences in chamber psi is only 5k on a NEW chamber, laying some 223 ammo in the sun will give you a higher psi spike.
      not to mention the differences in chamber spec is only the throat angle, and after 1000 rounds of 223, the throat erosion has removed that

      @@russrit's a potential issue for older guns. So if you're giving advice, it's better to be safe than sorry.
      And since 223 is generally cheaper, what's there to gain anyway??

    • @russr
      @russr Před 10 měsíci

      @@backcountry164 older guns? 5k psi is NOTHING. you would get a higher psi spike leaving your ammo in the sun...
      again... i challenge you to find a single report online of any 223 blowing up from a factory good 556 ammo.
