    I honestly don't think you could compare both, I mean each drone is design to certain types of filmmaker/photographer. I shoot a lot of corporate, golf events and weddings, apart from the weddings most of my work goes to Instagram cause that's the tool that most of my clients use. I had the mavic air( which I sold yesterday) because it was for me a Run n Go drone, it was light and portable and I mostly travel with one camera bag, if it doesn't fit in my bag I don't buy it. So, for me the air 2 is a no brainer and is a huge upgrade. I used to struggle a lot with the Air1 and it's wifi signal. The occusync 2.0 is a HUGE, at it's very best, the reason to buy this drone. Again, if you're a run n go filmmaker or photographer, this one is for you. Now, get the MP2 if you really want that extra bump in post production and if you're doing professional work at another level. But honestly, the air 2 is a no brainer.

There are lots of other advantages of all the Mavic drones vs Skydio in non Sports Tracking modes.

    @JonathanNinnin Před 4 lety +20

    To not waste people's time:
    Mavic 2 Air is lighter and offers 4k60p, image suffers from digital oversharpenning, bad DR and no log picture profil, stuck at 8bit.
    Mavic 2 pro offers 4k30fps, in both full FOV and HQ mode. D-log 10 bit profil with OK DR. Image feels very natural, no digital oversharpening going on, really good with heavy color grades. Bigger sensor means better lowlight performance. Full FOV suffers from pixel binning, HQ is WAY above in terms of quality.
    generally speaking:
    Mavic 2 pro is meant for Videographer that needs good quality shots to match with cameras. Mavic 2 Air is meant for prosumer, travellers and bloggers that don't require such high end video quality.

    • @PjotrII
      @PjotrII Před 4 lety

      Exactly! Just ordered my PRO 2, based on analysis of the image quality. AIR has "more colors" in a way, but they are "slightly unnatural" colors (BOOST COLORS - something some phone cameras has... boost the green, and the grass looks nice, nice but unnatural)... when working with images/video, you want the original to be as close as possible to what you see... you can then color correct to get some extra of it in post production. The shadows (not in this video) of AIR were not as colorful as PRO, and it might be due to the 10-bit advantage.

    Hello, it's been two years since I own the Mavic air so it would be time to change and move to a higher range. I hesitate a lot between the Mavic 2 pro and the Mavic air 2. For me the advantages of the Mavic 2 pro are the one inch sensor and the obstacle sensors 360. And the advantages of the Mavic air 2 are the 4K 60 FPS the weight and the less bulky size and the more pleasant remote control and the HDR in film. (For the price whatever I can afford for the two drones so it's not the price that will influence my choice) the problem with the Mavic air 2 is that the automatic modes do not support the 4K 60 FPS and I happen to be using it for half of my time. So I tell myself that it would be better to take the Mavic 2 pro with an additional one inch sensor (but is there really a big difference between the half inch and one inch sensor?) But it's true than on the Mavic air 2 even if the 4K60 FPS is available only in manual mode it is always much more pleasant to have a smooth video. (Knowing that I film all in 4K) after I don't know if in terms of software and artificial intelligence, it is more developed and effective on the Mavic air 2 than on the Mavic 2 pro or if there is really a big difference. So it would be very kind of you if you can tell me which drone to take. I’m sorry for the spelling mistakes because I’m French and I do not speak English perfectly 😁.

    You said if you’re into photography the Mavic air 2 is the clear winner. As an amateur photographer that just does not seem correct to me. How can a half inch sensor with the quad bayer filter on 12 megapixels making it 48 megapixels be better than an actual 20 megapixel sensors. The larger sensor and the larger pixels is just going to make it better not just for low light photos but for All Photos. Add to that the ability to control your aperture and I don’t see where there’s even a comparison as to which would be the best. Please show me where I’m wrong.

    Honestly I own the Mavic Pro 1 and was going to wait to order the Mavic Pro 3. Having travelled with the Mavic 1 pro i realized that size and weight is ESSENTIAL, I think for many people. I ordered the Mavic Air 2 so it remains to be seen how good it is. I have a feeling that the way Mavic Pro 3 will beat all of them is if it’s smaller and lighter than the M2P but with better specs but not sure if that’s possible. From what I have seen online the FOV on the M2P is too narrow anyways if you want the best quality in HQ which sucks. M2P has some issues in my view and I could be wrong but I think the Hasselblad is overrated. True what many people said, these videos that you share on social media will be hard to see the difference. Even mavic 1 Pro can take great videos but it’s not that consistent which is an issue for me and too finicky. The one thing I’m worried about on mavic 2 air is the single IMU and compass but not sure how that affects the reliability of the drone compared to the m2p

  • @Speak_Out_and_Remove_All_Doubt

    I wonder when the Mavic 3 Pro will be out?
    I do really like the Air 2, the video and photos do look big improvement on the original Air and even in some situations the Mavic 2 Pro but the tracking still isn't quite good enough imo. The Air 2 doesn't keep up with you if you are moving too quickly (like on a pedal bike or skiing or heaven forbid something motorised) and it doesn't have enough sensors (no top or arm/side sensors) to be able to see things coming to reliably move around them like say the Skydio 2 does for example. I'm sure the Mavic 3 Pro will up the anti even on the Skydio 2 but could 6+ months away still.
    This lack of sensors does produce some creative limitations too beyond just banging into trees above you that it can't see. For example the Air 2 can't fly right along side you to film you because it needs to be point itself a little forward to use it's forward facing sensors to see things coming, so what it does is hangs back and off to the side as a compromise. It still looks ok but that fully parallel shot is way better.
    At the end of the day the Air 2 is significantly cheaper than the Mavic 2 or Evo 2 or Skydio 2 so it was never going to have everything and the Air 2 does move things along a lot with it's much better designed controller, OcuSync 2.0 transmission system, 34min flight time, improved image quality from the IMX586 sensor, RAW images, 4K60, 4K HDR, 1080p240, and although not perfect the tracking and obstetrical avoidance is still improved.
    I guess at the end of the day, many people are happy to pay more for a phone every 2-3 years so maybe these aren't too expensive if you think of them in that mindset rather than waiting and waiting until there is the perfect drone with everything you want which my never come because there will always be something over the horizon that would be really cool to have on them. Which is an interesting thought, where will drone development go in the next 10+ years? Obviously things like flight time, image quality, tracking systems, obstetrical avoidance and raw speed will all be natural progressions for them but I think zoom lenses (or multiple lenses) will become more common as they are doing on phones right now as this opens up much greater creative options. But I wonder what other things might get added in the future that we haven't thought of today?

    Owned the original air and still got the Mavic 2 Pro...was tempted by reading updates on the air 2 release until I saw your video. Really good job on getting into the finer details, knowing its 8-bit vs 10-bit, and that the air still doesn't have an adjustable aperture, which is a deal-breaker for me as I hated having to always swap ND filters on the air to get that sweet spot on shutter speed. I would totally go with the Air 2 and I have a 2 Pro. The 2 Pro requires a significant amount of work to process the video because the standard profiles are a mess (the Air 2 corrects this) and it is significantly softer an image than the Phantom 4 Pro despite both having a 1 inch sensor. I love my drone, and I'm not about to trade down but I can't help but feel the 1 inch sensor and camera system in the 2 Pro were hobbled considering the price and now the "real" super crisp and without limit 1 inch sensor will be in the Mavic 3. When you consider the Air 2 has BETTER range, works with the DJI Smart Controller if you want, has certain modes the 2 Pro doesn't, better battery life, better range than ANY other Mavic drone from DJI at any price it seems a non brainer when you consider it is half the price of the 2 Pro. Unless you have very, very specific niche camera needs and a lot of time to spend in Adobe Premiere or Final Cut X I recommend the Air 2. I *hope* the Mavic 3 (which will be $1500 I'm sure) will be the following... 1) the highest quality 1 inch sensor camera in any drone ever made, even better than the Phantom 4 Pro 2) a single model which integrates the mechanical zoom to the 1 inch sensor vs. separate Zoom/Pro models and 3) the best autoflight and follow modes ever seen on a DJI drone approaching or equalling what Skydio has done with their incredible technology.

    Btw the Air 2 “48 Megapixel Photos” is just a marketing ploy. It takes four 12 MP photos and combines them together to make one photo. If you do the same with the Mavic 2 Pro you will get an 80MP photo 🤷🏻‍♂️ even more awesome 😂

    • @booklailert
      @booklailert Před 4 lety +2

      Infinity Drone Solutions WA It’s not actually it’s actually 4 * 12MP sensors stacked on top of each other (so it actually is 48MP) the reason it’s stacked and not just one 48MP sensor is that this allows each sensor layer to be controlled separately. So each of the layer can take photos at different exposures and be combined into one HDR shot without having to take multiple photos. I hope DJI make this more clear though!
