- The original Star Wars Flashmob in Cologne with the WDR Funkhausorchester (at that time still WDR Rundfunkorchester). The Star Wars Orchestra Flashmob has been thrilling millions of fans worldwide for over 10 years. Recorded in October 2012 in front of the WDR Funkhaus Wallrafplatz in Cologne.

They did that so well! Some flash mobs take so long to set up that they’re more of an ‘outdoor concert’ - which is great but not a ‘flash mob’. The look on people’s faces when the different parts started up was wonderful and a reminder of happier times.

I think it would be awesome if High School bands and drum corps would flash mob their shows at whatever city they visit. They are 9-minutes long for high schools.
Folks forget it’s not just notes. It’s dynamics and articulation that truly puts a finishing polish on a piece.
This may have been this orchestras first attempt. Why do a five minute piece if you are unsure of your audience reception? Hopefully their next one is longer, we will see :)
I am so blessed to have grown up in the era of movie scores like star wars, superman, raiders of the lost ark and not forgetting the goonies!!! I Wouldn't change that for anything!!!

This just goes to show how much of an impact a single series of films have had on the ENTIRE world even up to 3 decades later like today!
Flims are classics granted, but Williams created trully iconic music for it, music that even people who didnt see the film are familiar with

The sound is too perfect to be real. No way you could get that sound in a busy plaza without extensive mics.

Ich hätte es authentischer gefunden, wenn ihr keine eingespielte Musik drüber gelegt hättet. Einem anderen Video konnte ich entnehmen, dass das Orchester fantastisch gespielt hat, natürlich sind die Akustik draußen ganz anders aber für mich gehört das dazu. - Die Idee selbst finde ich klasse!

ja genau deswegen gibts auch nen daumen runter... entweder man steht dazu und der sound ist bescheiden oder man lässt so eine Doku. und ja, das am ende der Mediathek theaser lauter als alles andere ist macht es deutlich das der wo es geschnitten hat noch weniger ahnung von garnicht's hat!
Und ja ich hab erfahrung mit livesound aufnahmen... jede kamera hat minimum ein mono signal, dazu ok 2012 war die smartphonetechnik noch nicht so entwickelt, aber selbst da gab es schon stereo bandmaschinen für den mobilen einsatz!
