I hate how they changed her throughout the show. There was nothing to be changed, she was perfect from the beginning.

To everyone hating on how the show changed her... it really didn't. Its now 2020 and she still dyes her hair that bright orangey red and dresses similar to this. Yoy need to understand that these shows are scripted to ensure they maintain views. They may have dulled her down in the beginng in order to let the audience focus on her voice and then changed her back near the end. Or, perhaps they did offer these changes to her and she loved them so much she kept that style. Either way she's totally successful and gorgeous today

I think she herself even said that she wanted to wear that stuff and the wardrobe department said they'd try to find things in her style (and let her wear docs instead of heels).
i would agree with you, except Janet has been pretty vocal in the past about wanting to go back to her natural blonde but her reddish hair has become such a big part of her irish songwriter appeal. if you check her comments or livestreams it really is 80% men commenting on her hair and appearance in general.
i think she's made a good compromise with the pinkish hair, and she loves her tattoos even though you know half those men want her to be their pure 16yo virgin forever, so im not saying that she caves to her fans constantly by any means, but she has this weirdly toxic older male fanbase and i think it's 100% because of X Factor and it's something she can't really escape.

What a rare and sweet voice. Today is the fist time I've heard this girl sing, and I'd have to say, she is such a beautiful person, with such a beautiful voice. Definitely one of the best I've ever heard.

They changed her to sing songs that don't fit into the Celtic voice she has some can be changed but others can't. Brilliant singer.

Unbelievable!?!? First time I have seen this montage. How can the sweet voice and personality from the first audition be twisted so much!! I hope Janet turned her back on the X factor nonsence. She is an angel.
Agreed...her original auditions were SO GOOD...but the direction of that show for her was not good...you could absolutely see the light in her eyes dim with each performance...the last one we got to see a bit more of who we fell in love with! But overall, she was 100x’s better than the “fit” that show tried to put her in. Luckily she’s been making music since then, she’s found her way back to “her”... and she’s amazing! Love her as she is!!

Her interpretation of Every Breath You Take, was spot on. I always felt that was the creepy stalker song. She nailed it on the head. I think I forgot to breath while I watched this. I can't believe how perfect that was. I would seriously buy her album.

Agreed..stunning voice! The show took her down a rabbit hole of “ok, change and fit in here”...NOPE (thankfully!)! She is absolutely wonderful exactly how she is and thankfully she has come back to that angelic voice we originally heard!,

The Sting song she sang “every breathe I take” was a Halloween 🎃 themed night and so all of the artists had to turn their chosen song into something that sounded creepy and scary to be in keep with the theme ... just in case anyone was wondering about the way she was dressed and the heavy make up situ - it was suppose to look heavy stage make up and suppose to look 👀 creepy .. I thought it was a clever turn around on that song. Love Janet Devlin! Working my way through her many albums at the moment! 💃 🧝🏼♀️ 🎶
Great, love her music! Am I the only one who thinks that her so-called mentor did her absolutely no favours and did more damage?? She should've gone so much further in the competition!
This is honestly so sad to watch. She had so much love and passion and character at the beginning of the show. She was unique and beautiful and they did everything to turn her into something she wasn't. You can watch her passion for this show die a little bit with every performance, and you can see the judges lose their passion for her too because her coach completely ruined her unique style and character and dolled her up like some pop diva. You can see how miserable and embarrassed she looks like she's put on a mask and is just acting her part. I loved her first audition and her authenticity in the beginning but by the end she's just not herself anymore. The last song here is the closest we get to her true voice from the beginning and even it's so different.
Actually , she was miserable in the beginning. She hated herself and wanted to end her life. THe show got her some help and she started to do better.
I honestly think they helped her find her confident voice. I don’t like how they changed her physically. But I’m the first audition you can tell she’s super nervous. She has a beautiful and unique voice, however you can tell she’s extremely nervous but her voice is so beautiful that it also works with her voice. I think her voice got stronger as time went on.

Janet, that took a lot of courage to post. I’ve been wondering what happened after your X Factor audition. Of course like everyone else, I loved you in your audition. Your voice is so melodic and unique and you seemed so sweet. You referred to an illusion you created. I don’t think it is an illusion. You have revealed your painful truth and what I see of you in this video is that what I saw in your video performances is who you are now: sweet and beautiful, incredibly talented and very compelling. Only now we can add courage and honesty to the list. I’m so happy for you that you faced the mountain and climbed it. I will keep on listening to you.
