Triangular Trash Rack Has The Biggest Clog I Have Ever Seen And Mass Dot Fail

- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. At the time of making this video I was unaware of the situation but it appears that the couple of comments from people below might, probably are correct that there is a flood control Reservoir Downstream that had to backup all this to prevent Downstream flooding with all the recent rain

because of that I wonder if the 2nd one failed? I mean I agree that it looks bad.
I knew this couldn't be a normal flood. I thought maybe beavers could do this with enough time (or at least heavily contribute) but the reservoir makes total sense. Still in any case, the beavers & road will need attention after the flooding recedes.
I'm still disappointed you didn't unclog it. Camera #2 would have been epic.

The army corps of engineers operates a flood control dam just north of this location a mile or two away.. it was constructed in the 1950s to prevent flooding downstream..with the extreme amount of rain we have had here in central Massachusetts I would assume they probably closed the dam and held back water to prevent the flooding of the lower lying areas of population down stream..the entire area around the triangle grate is not only watershed but a flood plain for when the dam holds back water ...under normal circumstances the dam holds back little to nothing allowing the nearby river to flow unrestricted however when needed it can store up to 7.8 billion gallons..
This seems a lot more likely than the beavers being able to dam up a few culverts an raise the water 8 feet.
This makes far more sense than beavers
I don't forsee them opening the floodgates anytime soon

They were a few moves ahead of Post 10 this time! All that "trash" they laid in the triangle rack was merely building materials for the bigger mega dam further downstream, and they was just waiting for Post to send everything downstream for them.

To raise the level of the pond to that of a lake is more likely that of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers type of doing, because I don't think any beavers are that capable of raising their dam by ten feet inside of a month

A few times in the past, I thought that a drone would have been a very useful tool for you. This is yet another time when a drone could have provided some enlightening information. Pretty startling to see that much water in a location that were used to seeing in a very different light!

That's crazy to see. I kept wondering if the huge dam down the way would cause a flood, but nothing that huge! 😮 It went from a pond to a small lake. Perhaps in the winter, you could camp on the frozen water over the trash rack lol.

If the dam between the primary and secondary (trash rack) ponds failed, was there enough water in the primary pond to cause this once that water reached the secondary pond? 🤔
Plus, them damming downstream stopping the outflow from the trash rack? All 3 things at the same time? 🙃
Penny royal is an herb that keeps flying insects away from your face. When wearing a cap/hat, I will place twigs in mt cap & rub the leaves. It does smell good, but the bugs hate it. It's especially good when a person is sweating & they don't want liquiid bug repelant running down face. Love your video Post 10!

I wonder if it'd even be possible for someone like Post to go into the forest, find the dam that's backing everything up into that massive flood, and manage to work it out to take it down without a massive wall of water slamming into everything downstream of it. That'd probably easily be the biggest thing he's ever done, but more than likely the best course of action would be for him to inform the relevant authorities and have them do some kind of project where they clear the forest down to the dam and just clear it themselves.
Might be able to see the source of back up with a drone.
@@danhalen4231 Yeah, assuming the dam isn't in a place where it's heavily forested and thus would be a hazard to fly through. Being in that same general part of the country, you'd be surprised how squirreled away something like that can get with the underbrush.
I don't know if Post has a drone, but I hear they're super easy to get and might be an interesting addition to his equipment, given he could show the basins that water collects in with beaver activity.
I mean, it really all depends on how dedicated and how much risk Post's willing to accept for content's sake. At the end of the day the only people that HAVE to clear that blockage is the foresting company, and they'll have to do it eventually, or go through the trouble of redoing the entire route.
