@@justindearmond1 the most expensive ingredient in a can of paint is the label. Always remember that when the BM dealer tells you PPG is the best paint now, it's only because he lost his territory to ACE. Painters have no control over paint quality, it's all about hedge funds. I’m a professional from Maine. The houses in Idaho I see you working on seem much different than the houses here. A lot of fiberboard siding and trim, and mostly low. We have real wood shakes, clapboards, and trim most of the time, some over a hundred years old, with much more prep. It’s interesting to see the different styles in other areas

I'm a steel industrial painter. I mainly spray but I have to stripe (cut) in with a brush. I also paint, well just starting, on the side for residential. So technically I'm a professional steel painter and a "beginner" house painter. I've learned a lot from you Chris and I want to thank you. Some say that there is a difference between painting steel and painting houses. I say obviously you've never done both because I can tell you this, the only difference is in your head and the tools you use to prep. If you have pride in your work, you will succeed in your profession. We have a saying at my job. If you're not f'n up it's because you're not working. You are constantly learning something new every day. When you think that you know it all, retire because you stopped learning.

Do you paint the underside lip of the shingles along the trim, why? what if the last painter got some paint on it in some places? How do you spray the body next to the window trim up on a ladder in light wind without covering the glass with plastic??? some of that spray will defiantly get on the glass of the window? unless its on super low or something? Do you really roll your soffits and backsides of fascia? Usually that stuff is perfect to just spray!? thanks

Respectfully, you have many great videos that are very informative. But when painting exterior trim around windows and corners, the trim includes the edges also, not just the face. You like soo many painters take the easy way out and just paint the face of trim because it's fast and easy. Do the job correctly and paint the trim face and edges.
