  • Why I chose the Yanmar SA424 tractor. There are many options in the world of tractors for landscapers, but I strongly believe the subcompact tractor is the perfect machine to have in the fleet. I list reasons why I believe this and why the Yanmar SA424 was the tractor for MLC LLC.

  • @ltdlawnservice4586
    @ltdlawnservice4586 Před 3 lety

    Looking into one of these. Has the extra height clearance worked in your favor? When replacing tires gonna keep r4s or switch to turf? These have best lift capacity and a solid warranty. Deciding between 324 or 424.

    • @mithgo_outdoor
      @mithgo_outdoor  Před 3 lety +3

      Hey there, yes there has been many times when out bush hogging that the extra ground clearance paid off. If you are considering between the 324 and 424 definitely go 424. If I have to replace the tires I'll keep the r4s because the added traction is a bonus when bush hogging. The tractor is light enough that it doesn't tear up fine turf as long as you operate with some sense. Thanks for tuning in and good luck on your purchase

    • @mithgo_outdoor
      @mithgo_outdoor  Před 2 lety +1

      This SA424 is a Sub-Compact model (along with any of the other SA models from Yanmar). The Sub-Compacts are designed for a reason and serve a very good purpose. I would argue that there is nothing "poor" about them because they serve a niche market. There's been hundreds of times over the last 6 years of ownership that if I'd had a larger tractor (ie compact or bigger) I wouldn't have been able to perform the service at hand or damaged property due to the tractor being too heavy. There's a tractor out there for almost every person's needs. Hopefully you found find or found one that works for you. Would like to know what you landed on? I just took ownership of a new Kubota Grand L4760 and I'm already loving it. Thanks for stopping by the channel. Have a great day

      @@mithgo_outdoor I am not seeing much for used available and my research is leading me towards the SA424! I have rented a huge CAT 420D before for removing trees in the rocks. I probably don’t need to own a backhoe but it’s not that much more and would definitely solve the problem of weighting the rear tires. The closest shop to service a Yanmar is 1.5 hours away but I am very experienced with working on vehicles and have an equipment trailer so I may buy a tractor that doesn’t have local support even though I know a lot of people would disagree with me. I mostly want a tractor for snow removal and light landscape work, I think it would be a decent investment as we are in hyperinflation and my stocks are already taking a 12% loss. I live in very rocky soil, it’s a world renowned area for rocks and grapes but has mostly been apples in the past so it’s not ground for tilling and planting unfortunately. The 424 is a model that is stable and has the ground clearance I should purchase I feel. I am also toying with investing in a used Bobcat skid steer, maybe it would be the ultimate snow removal equipment and landscaping toy and a better investment long term that a new tractor, loader/backhoe though tractors are not depreciating a whole lot, at least the dealers want close to retail for some machines with 500-1,000 hours or more. What do you think about a Bobcat? Is it too expensive to leave parked mostly, reliable enough to leave mostly idle or very expensive repairs yearly? A great $30,000 yard ornament/ investment? I know a lot of people say rent a backhoe when you need one but I am looking for mountain property and I should probably spend $5,000 more and get a tractor with one now since I have the money, even if just a tractor and loader fits most of my needs. Thanks for any advice!
