    320 books😲! You Debs are indeed a voracious reader. It sounds like you've got a good plan in place to slow down a bit. Happy New Year! l'm looking forward to what you will be sharing with us in 2024🙂.

    You seem fairly organized with what you want to read. It's hard not to get wrapped up in booktube events! 😀

      I may seem organised but then everything descends into chaos usually 😂

    You were in my recommended videos, and I clicked on a whim! Watched the whole thing and loved every second of it. Listening to you was both inspiring, insightful, and relaxing :) Happy 2024!

    Hi, Debs. I just wanted to let you know that I'm so grateful for your channel and for having the chance to get to know you a bit better this year. I look forward to more wonderful reading in 2024. I fear I'd be treading water if I tried to keep up with 300 books a year, but people like you and Stephanie certainly make it worthwhile. Have a SPECTACULAR new year if I don't hear from you!

      Thanks John. Buddy reading with you and later with Steph has been one of my greatest pleasures this year. I look forward to getting to know you better my friend 😊. Have a wonderful, wonderful new year 🎉🎉🎉

    Ah, the excitement of BookTube getting the better of you - that sounds familiar! 😉Chilling out a bit is a sound philosophy, is my approach this year too, though how well I'll manage to stick to that approach is yet to be seen! BookTube events are the reason my TBRs exploded in 2023, but they're too good to miss out on, so I'm going to listen to your sensible words and not feel like I have to do every prompt for every event, and just participate in a more low key way for some of them!
    Love the idea of the Nottingham project, that's really interesting. I'll look forward to hearing more about that for sure! Very much looking forward to our buddy read of Ancestors in a couple of months, I definitely want to get into more buddy reads this year too.
    Fab to hear you're going to be writing some fiction this year too! This is the year I'm determined to properly get going with writing (I prevaricate a lot as well 😉). I've set up a 'Writing Waffle' channel on my Discord for anyone who want to have a chat about their writing endeavours, share things, talk through 'hiccups' in the process etc, so please feel free to drop in and chat there! Will look forward to hearing more about your fiction writing journey throughout the year, best of luck with it! And congrats on a great first 6 months of BookTubing, has been fab getting to know you a little over that time ☺

      I'm failing on the chilling out already - must try harder. Very much looking forward to my Nottingham challenge and I must pop by your Writing Waffle channel too, thank you. It's been wonderful starting to get to know you too and I also am very much looking forward to our buddy read.

    There are so many events on Booktube, it can be a bit overwhelming. I enjoy dipping in to various events but don't fully engage in any event. Plays and poetry are outside my comfort zone, I did read Romeo & Juliet in Shaketember but not the other two. Ros of Scallydandling about the Books has been reading books from around the world, I think she has now read books from most countries, she might be able to recommend books she read on her literary odyssey. D H Lawrence could tick off a few of your boxes... Nottingham author, classics and banned books. Alan Sillitoe is a Nottingham author, who I really like. Have a great reading year.

      Thank you Jim. I agree the events can be overwhelming. DH Lawrence would certainly tick several boxes for me. I really enjoy Ros's channel. I'm not sure I told you but I bought The Eighth Life that you recommended. I'm planning to read it next month. It can be my 'monster of the month' after War and Peace

    • @jimsbooksreadingandstuff
      @jimsbooksreadingandstuff Před 7 měsíci

      @@RaynorReadsStuff I hope you enjoy The Eighth Life, you'll then be able to tick Georgia off your list.

    I'm with you on poetry, history, classics, what we need is a classic history that has been banned, lol. Seriously, I liked the idea of doubling up. I like Scandinavian Sagas, but also their crime, like Nesbo. You really have it down pat, Debs. I enjoy local writers too, except we are in Devon. Edinburgh, where my dad came from, is rich in Literary history, Sir Walter Scott and Stevenson, right up to Ian Rankin's Rebus. Also Edinburgh was a center for both publishing and bookselling. The other cities you mentioned would be fascinating too.

      @RaynorReadsStuff  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks Clare. We seem to have a lot of similar tastes. Edinburgh is one of the cities of literature, as is Exeter. Hopefully next year we can Buddy read together. That would be fun 😊. Happy new year to you 🎉

      @@RaynorReadsStuff Happy New Year to you too, Debs. I think we share lot's of the same interests. I'm up for a buddy read of anything you suggest. Although I don't know the mechanics of how that works. I worked in London for 22 years. My late partner was a sub for the Times, after he'd been a linotype operator in Exeter, a move to Slough as a journalist, then Fleet St, and then Canary Wharf. He soon realised that Murdock was ruthless, but he has gone very right wing since he went to the US. Alan also freelance for various papers. As we were away for so long I missed that Exeter was a City of Literature.
