In the newspaper that Hyunjin has it says something about that they are looking for the boss, there it has a description and it says that it is dangerous and the description matches I.N. that's why he comes out at the end, apparently he is an infiltrator and is the boss of the guys in white
The song itself goes back to being oddinary playing off of hiding behind a mask and to break through that hence the 'break the ice', 'step out', and the freeze, daeng lyrics. SKZ were undercover detectives and in the end I.N himself was also an undercover spy, the mafia boss, SKZ were looking for. So we all are in some ways undercovers whether it be bad or good. I mean, that's my personal take on the song and mv
The newspapers are important. K-Stays have given us translations of the key information.
The one at the beginning is mostly just important for mentioning that devil's potion is a scourge, so I didn't bother collecting those translations.
The one at the end, though, is basically a summary of what happened:
- "Stray Kid stopped the Iceberg Syndicate"
- "Eradication of the Iceberg Syndicate. What are the wherabouts of the boss?"
- "130 charges of manufacturing of devil's potion by a gang...the potion that permates your daily life is aiming for you...people who are being manipulated...your free will will disappear when you take it..."
- "Open search for suspect of evil potion" (the boss of the gang who distribute devil's potion)
- "Something that shouldn't happen again...trying to figure out location, movement of disappeared boss"
- "suspect's description:
- calculated to be man in his early 20s
- black, parted hair
- wearing black suit top and bottom
- high possibility of possessing a firearm"
If you guys every want to they explain a bit more of the story with the behind filiming mv videos. They literally tell you what emotion they are portraying or what action their character is doing sometimes ect. They especially did that for the bsides for this album like lonley street and freeze, I.N. straight up tells you what he did at the end

Honestly my favourite mv was Venom . The others are amazing but Venom just seems so unique . Thank you for reacting !
And a summary of the plot (some of which was garnered from the behind-the-scenes content):
- Half of them are meeting with the Iceberg Syndicate (basically a mafia-esque gang) who've been flooding the country with "devil's potion."
- The other half of them are on overwatch during the meeting.
- Han steals the lighter during the meeting because he knows what's coming and knows he might need it for what's coming, because...
- ... then they all get themselves captured -- which is part of their entire plan. Also, in addition to the bullets hitting each other, there's shard-like detritus flying everywhere. This is suspected to be a possible indicator that, in line with their lore, they're using their powers to protect themselves and/or they're the alternative version of SKZ (there are parallel timelines and two versions of the group that make appearances in videos) and are thus being protected by the dimensional barrier. It's SKZ, so anything's possible, and they're never going to tell us because it's more fun to watch us guess.
- They got themselves captured because they wanted to get taken to the HQ/warehouse of the syndicate so they could take out the operation. Notice no one was panicking or even worried when they were tied up. Also notice they weren't _making_ the potion, just fiddling with the extant material and pocketing some of it.
- Next step: destroy the warehouse/stockpile/operation/whatever.
- Ending scene with Hyunjin reading the updated newspaper that details all of this, as well as describes the still-missing leader of the syndicate and the manhunt in progress.
- And then I.N saunters up to the table, uses the gun to make a visual reference to his boss-level swagger in "Maknae on Top," and ends things...as he stands right next to the newspaper that describes him to a T. Because the twist of the plot is that SKZ's own maknae is the kingpin of the syndicate. And they've specifically confirmed that -- I.N was absolutely thrilled about it.
"Nothing froze in that" is unintentionally ironic -- it was _really_ cold when they filmed this, and they themselves were freezing. The moment they weren't filming, they were all bundled up to their noses in winter parkas. The breath in the air is real, not CGI. They mentioned this one being one of the hardest shoots they've done so far, simply because it was _so_ cold.
Fwiw, since I know lyrics weren't a big part of your focus during this initial viewing, the most important part is Binnie's "eoreum, ttaeng" -- ie, "freeze, unfreeze." They're playing off the words that are used during the Korean version of freeze tag. When combined with the rest of the lyrics, along with the outside voice yelling "Freeze," it fits the theme of the album -- things are in your way, freezing you in place, obstructing your path, so do what you need to get them out of your way and let loose your real self.
Hi 🙂 Just thought to mention that in his Chan mentioned they are undecover detectives. Have to admit that I haven't thought about the story behind the song even though Freeze is one of my top 3 favs in the album. The 2 unit songs are the others ones.
