One of the greatest rock songs in history, an absolute masterpiece....
I entirely agree with you on that
When I was in the 11th Grade, 1978, we had to bring a song to English class that told a story and play it on the record player. I brought Stargazer. Everyone was dying before that song ever finished. In the days of crappy ass music like James Taylor and Minnie Riperton, I played this. I watched them squirm and wince for 8 minutes and 20 seconds. Loved every second of it. Failed 11th grade English. Rock on!
Why did they not like it? Back in the day I did bring selected metal songs to English (as a second language) class and teachers have always been supportive and praised it. Stargazer would fit very well...
James Taylor and Minnie Ripperton were fantastic.
I would have given a weeks pay to see their reactions....😉
That’s awesome!!
@@AlessioSangalli it was a Prep School where everyone voluntarily wore khakis and izods. I wore Levi's big bells and colored Fruit of the Loom T-Shirts. I lived on the blue collar side of town. These people were followers. If you listen to Dio you are not a follower. You blaze your own trail. Even though life has been good to me I still find myself having to machete my way by myself. So be it. Rock on.
still gives me shivers after 40 years...best rock song ever
Ditto
Idk why I have neve heard this on the radio
I think we might have a case of the liberal left's stereotypical masculinity and since its Rainbow its gay ya kniw
@@gooch2353 I do, its too long to be played on radio. They prefer 3 minute pop hits.
The way ronnie connected you to the music was just incredible this song wells up so much emotion from deep in my soul damn near brings me to tears everytime
Some of the best rock and roll ever recorded in the history of rock and roll
Dio’s voice was incredible
Stargazer. Perfect song. Masterpiece eternal.
no new rockband in 2021 can write a song like this! This is outstanding! There will never be a band like RAINBOW
Dio's soaring vocals over the instrumentation of several very talented musicians... still gives me chills.
Long live Dio!
This song is timeless...
This is to rock and roll what Wagner was to classical music. Epic.
This song is awesome. The lyrics and vocal delivery are amazing. Hell, everything Dio touched turned to gold.
This is the best Rainbow song imo. Every sigle time I listen to it, my heart and mind go straight to heavens. The best, no more words.
Probably the best rock track ever
@@steveburrows3263 i have never agreed with anyone more
Listened to this album every day driving back and forth to high school in 76-77. Still cranking it up!
Really?
@@trinitymatrix9719 yup
High noon, oh I'd sell my soul for water
Nine years worth of breakin' my back
There's no sun in the shadow of the wizard
See how he glides, why he's lighter than air?
Oh, I see his face
Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
I believe, yes, I believe
In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
To see him fly
So many died
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
Just to see him fly
But don't know why
Now where do we go?
Hot wind, moving fast across the desert
We feel that our time has arrived
The world spins, while we put his dream together
A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky
Oh, I see his face
Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
Hey, I believe, I believe
In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
Just to see him fly
Too many died
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But we don't know why
Ooh, now where do we go
All eyes see the figure of the wizard
As he climbs to the top of the world
No sound, as he falls instead of rising
Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand
Oh, I see his face
Where was your star?
Was it far, was it far?
When did we leave?
We believed, we believed, we believed
In heat and rain
With the whips and chains
To see him fly
So many died
We built a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But why
In all the rain
With all the chains
Did so many die
Just to see him fly
Look at my flesh and bone
Now, look, look, look, look
Look at his tower of stone
I see a rainbow rising
Look there, on the horizon
And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home
Time is standing still
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh
Take me back
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh
Ooh
Take me back, take me back
Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh
i wonder if stormwitch got the idea for arabian nights from this song?
This was Blackmores high and Ronnies. the pinnacle reached.
R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio, Jimmy Bain and Cozy Powell.
Just like Dio in jjba
Only Ritchie Blackmore and Tony Carey left. Carey was at deaths door a few years ago but managed to pull back.
The absolute ZENITH of rock
I’m so grateful and glad I lived through music of this incredible genius .
I love everything that is Richie Blackmore, Deep Purple & Rainbow were outstanding heavy rock bands, lost count how many times i have played Stargazer, All Night Long, Child in Time, Smoke on the Water and many others.
With U bro...what a friggin legacy!
There are a lot of us who will go to our deaths remembering and revering Ronnie James Dio. I am one of them.
Amazing.. just amazed right now.
Sounds like a Rock Opera.
The Amazing Ronnie James Dio 🤘😈🤘
Dio at his best. Powerful voice, searing guitar by Blackmore.
Rainbow a great band that get now justice !
Rock and roll epic! It just doesn't get any better than this hypnotic song.
Who's currently as Epic as Ronnie James Dio ? nobody....He was a one off....
RIP Cozy ! What feel !
This was Rainbow's response to Kashmir by Led Zeppelin and I think that it surpasses it in many ways.
In what ways would that be?
In every way pertaining to conviction.@@sarahmarie1898
I love it when artists compete with each other! Us fans are always the winners because of the countless gems!
Uno de los mejores temas de la historia del rock
The first Power Metal Song. Amazing
Stairway to Heaven, Bohemian Rhapsody were just 2 power heavy rock songs before this, but hey i know what you mean, to me they are all brilliant.
@@u414336 Bohemian Rhapsody is definitely NOT a power metal song.
this song is a masterpiece and the follow up to this is just as amazing; definitely something i feel like people have to experience within their life time.
Listening to this wonderful example of good quality rock.. 26 yrs later.. O.M.G.. IT STILL WORKS.. beautifully 😍
Probably the greatest vocals performance of all time, at least for hard rock/metal.
This song is a roller coaster!
A monument.👍
Nice little intro by Cozy with this song. An epic album overall.
RIP RJD I'm a thrash metal music fan but stargazer I can listen to everyday and over and over great vocals on this album as well when I sing Stargazer can never make it to the end
Still kicks ass!!!!
The last take me back when the song almost fades away, is the best part of the whole song. I love this song
Part of the best three rainbow songs. This, Light from the black, and Gates of Babylon.
The best song ever, period!
How can one man be involved in 3 of the greatest albums ever made? Just fucking unreal!
name the rest 2.
@@manglik3815 Rainbow, Rainbow Rising, Heaven and Hell.
I thought u meant In Rock, Burn, and Rainbow Rising (ritchie lol)
Dio REALLY loved rainbows.
Of course, he made a song about a Rainbow in the Dark and it's one of the greatest hits of his discography
I just got chills. Anyone else?
rainbow' s rising i believe is the best blackmore job and of course the best album of the 70s
Can't listen to this without listening to A Light in the Black afterwards.
Wow!!! What Amazing song! It's always a pleasure to hear it
Awesome, a unique accolade - probably the best ending to a song ever, & its one damn brilliant song!
Dio voice at the end of verse of " where do we gooooooooo oooohh" Is just epic!

Grandioso fantástico estupendo fabuloso
Best ever.
this is the best song ever high
Tyr did a great cover of this.
This version with the bass nice and loud sounds way better. Like sabbath.
Dios voice on full display.
Unfortunate that dio didn’t like stargazer or a light in the black. Arguably one of his best works.
I heard they could never get it to sound right live!
@@ScrotieJohnson I mean this sounds pretty good. But Its understandable if the live versions of the songs don’t sound exactly like the studio version. They’re really fast songs.

Reminds me of the plot of dark tower
this song has 50% DIO fans and 50% Dio fans
En clair...le panard géant
it's very Dio, it belongs to an era, but none the worse for that. Dio was never a favourite of mine, I blamed him for wrecking sabbath, but it wasn't his fault the damage was done and it was going to happen anyway. I had this as a kid but I have really grown to love it now, I know it can e accused of being a pompous cliché but fuck it, it's art and if it makes you feel good why not? long live rock!
Sorry, but the best Sabbath stuff is the three dio albums. I don't care for ozzy except some of his solo stuff. As a singer, he is, passable.
I agree Dio is the best singer Sabbath had
@@jacobwalsh1888 Ozzy and Dio were very different singers and in Ozzy's own words he respected Dio for not trying to copy him. In my opinion, Ozzy's voice was perfect for his early work with Sabbath but I never liked his albums as a whole, however his voice was phenomenal in its own right and you are correct, I liked some of his solo albums better . On the other hand, I loved every track in heaven and hell as well as the mob rules. The overall quality of both albums was off the charts. To summarize, both were great vocalists in their own way and deserve respect but both were unique too. Ironic that Sharon introduced Dio to Iommi.
