      "I will be able to understand A LOT" not "much".
      However, you CAN say "I WON'T be able to understand much." The word much is used when it's a negative.

I've just watched the video below and now I've a specific question about your statement, "But fortunately, the negative form is the same in general and specific situations in the past." because it contradicts an English school book I am working with where it says: "We stayed in our hotel, but the TV was broken, so we weren't able to watch TV." ??? I am really confused because I have the following situation now: native speaker vs school book! Please help me out!

    Thank you Emma, you're a great teacher! And I'm not just saying that...
    When I was younger I could understand English perfectly, but when it came to speaking I was terrified so I would just talk nonsence.
    Today, my speaking and writing skills have improved, so I recommend to each every one of you not to give up and to make a bigger effort every day.
    I am now able to talk about topics I find interesiting and to share it with other English speakers.
    Ofcourse, I could have done much more practise when I was younger so the results would come faster, but who cares? I am doing pretty good right now :-) and I'm even enjoying it more.

    I could speak English very well now because I am learning it on CZcams every day
    I was able to sing when I was younger
    I couldn't sing now because of lack of practice
    I'll be able to find a decent job if I could speak English fluently

    general ability in the past : my daughter couldn't talk at the age of 3 years old .
    specific ability in the past : my students were able to finish their tests in 15 minutes last semester .

    I could've watched some other tutorial on English but i would like to see only your videos because they are so simple and informative. they just slides into my mind so easily. you're like the best teacher which I didn't had when I was in high school. and pardon me for being greedy but can you make part 3 of it. these last two videos about 'modal auxiliary verbs' just covered some biggest confusion i ever had. love you emma so much god bless you with more happiness.. well that was 'cheesy' but it's worth it. thank you.
