RIP Steve
Fire-Toolz is so very cool Tim it always just blows me away how supportive you are to so many little different communities man it’s so cool
Damn Steve… ❤
Was totally unaware of Fire-Toolz until now. Thanks, y'all! 💖
hi
@@Fire-Toolz Heya :D
I will always look at my daddy Douggpound 😍
fire toolz is the most exciting artist of this century so far
I guess
Exciting or excruciating?
@@stevedaveybaby hopefully both
@@chrismitchell9631 at least you took a guess. 50% chance you’re right
didn’t realize firetoolz actually played the drums too thats insane, ive been playing for like 15 years and i still struggle playing her stuff
Massive fan of Angel’s. So awesome to see her here
The Steve Albini birthday clown 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌
Yay angel! Yay fire-toolz
That Steve guy is a real comedian. Super funny stuff there.
"That Steve guy"...
Fire-Toolz is pretty good. Reminds me of a more electronic Deafheaven or something.
Tim looks like Super Dave
Daddy dun did it again
I really wish they interviewed fire toolz. Cool performance! No idea drums and guitar were actually played
thank you. i play guitar in a large portion of my songs. there are guitar solos in many of them. also i've been playing drums since i was a lil babe, though most of the drums in fire-toolz songs are programmed. not all.
Recorded Steve’s explanation on why Spotify sucks to avoid further judgment.
For less than the cost of a Big Mac, fries and a Coke, you can buy a loaf of fresh bread and some good cheese or roast beef, which you will enjoy much more
id like to see a joe pesci interview on the show
I’m a janitor in Springfield at a high class resort. I like to go through the lockers and sometimes put stuff in there or take stuff. I’ll even walk around with other people’s clothes on that I find in the lockers. Sometimes I will kiss the locker handle or combination lock so that when they open the lockers in the morning it’s like they touching my mouth
I was kicked out of school because of you
dude that is truly fucked up
Willie Skinner would like a word with you
Soundguy should have properly adjusted Tim's mic gain during a soundcheck to avoid that clipping at the start of the show.
Tim’s Bowie is getting really good
How does Steve Albini not know how to use a microphone?
Calling those wireless things "microphones" is extremely generous. They are essentially just low quality toy replicas of the kinds of actual microphones someone like Albini uses (real microphones you'd use in a legitimate studio, or a professional live performance don't have off/on switches for example), so aside from obviously not having access to their mixer, it stands to reason he'd be unfamiliar with those/have as good of a chance of getting it working as the clown would... Which is a hilarious sentence
Steve Albini?!
We're EVEN CLOSER to getting Joanna Newsom on the show, --I can feel it!
steve albini is just like John Wayne
absolutely killed me during the ozzy christmas song roast
Fire-Toolz mastered our first album. Such an immense talent on an iconic legendary level.
STEVE ALBINI AND FIRE TOOLZ HOLY SHIT
whodathunk
15:17 I like the city of the day info
Random.. I been listening to Big Black a ton recently. Steve Albini is a legend
17:00
Shoulda filmed it in Waukegan, we got more zazz
Steve Albini is a dork and helped try and make nerds cool along with Fugazi
From the magzine Forced Exposure #13, the European Big Black tour diary, Albini recounts his enjoyment of the child pornography magazines he found in a sex shop in Hamburg:
"Jaded as I am, I can't help but flip seeing a girl and guy of twelve or thirteen, tops, ramming Martel bottles up each other's asses. These are not the Dutch equivalent of abused trailer-park kids, either. They look to be in excellent health and seem to be honestly enjoying this. Makes all the conventional arguments against this kind of thing seem really silly."
"They're kids. Kids like to play with their own and other people's privates. They're just being photographed at it. Now, people who get a voyeuristic charge out of watching them, like me, I guess, well, we've got some grip-on-reality problems. There's maybe 1% of all pornography that has any effect on me, and it's definitely not a turn-on very often. But when it is, and it's as weird as this, it's pretty hard to take."
Don't forget when, on Forced Exposure #07/08 he also praised the PURE zine, published by Peter Sotos, which also contained child pornography and glorified serial killers/rapists
Why'd you produce Buyers Market Steve?
Aw Steve! That's so cute
Y’all real ones for having fire tools on. Great to know my good tastes have good taste!
i’m glad you enjoyed the show but who is fire tools
55:10 wait is that a drop of the song from the footrot flats movie? what the hell
Steve Albini was spectacular.
Great guest. He didn't seem to get Tim's on stage "persona" but looks like he realized after the show and apologized to him...but Tim wasn't on fire that night anyways.
@@ripvanwando yeah no persona here...I think Tim was just being a bit of a prick, which he is wont to do from time to time. Albini is a music supercomputer, and Tim is a calculator who thinks he's pretty great, so the conversation was inevitably going to be a bit off in some respects.
steve albini is such a fucking legend.
why is tim doing a one eye blink
🔥 ⚒️ starts at 1:05:30 😎🌟
Hey Steve Albini what service do you recommend for streaming your work?
It's kinda hard to see the joy and excitement on the face of the people zooming in and Tim mostly treats them like furniture. Sometimes I really hope it's not himself but a character... but I basically stay for Doug and Vic. And god-forbid somebody dares to critic Tims music... idk... Office Hours left me confused... Tim certainly has a frat boy energy I wasn't aware of before. I somewhat get locker room vibes from my high school days.
Well, to be fair, maybe Tim is just defensive about his music because every song he releases is simplistic, hackneyed garbage.
@@scipio123Perhaps, and don't forget we're talking about the man who used to be involved in evergreens like "sports", "do da do do" or "cops and robbers".
tom waits is a goat. respect to y'all but sad you can't enjoy the greatness of that music.
13:57 is this Goo Goo gaga Beverly Bonner from the Basket case extra's. I hope so
What is the song at the beginning before I like having fun?
It’s some old kmart music
tim is too negative sometimes. I was sad to see him criticize that sweet old clown.
On Cinema Tim has consumed him.
yeah same with how he treats some of the callers. would be funny if it was more rare but it's too common to play off as just joking. also making fun of Ozzy like that
Not one of Tim’s better days. I found both of those moments to be in pretty poor taste as well. Gotta wonder how much of that is really him. Though in his defense, he looks tired from the tour and he’s doing the asshole comedian bit every night. Maybe he just got his wires crossed and stepped into the leather jacket comedian character subconsciously. Still, you could feel the air get sucked out of the room. I immediately thought of Trump making fun of that reporter a while back when he did the Ozzy thing.
@@L1ama yeah I really loved Albini calling him out for that Ozzy shit. As a low-level egomaniac Tim generally seems to need some push back from his collaborators from time to time. His slightly bland music is perhaps testament to that. Also, AC/DC rules - Tim is stupid when it comes to music.
@@scipio123 you had me until you defended AC/DC. I cannot abide them

Fire Toolz really makes consciously explicit the degree to which primary narcissism as subjectivity has become the essential commodity of the culture industry! Amazing listening to Steve Albini beforehand.

This is not a profound idea I hate to tell ya. Anyone with Instagram can see this. People are using hardcore individualism to sell out now. I remember when being corporate was a bad thing.
@@bobroberts2217 It was not proposed as a profound idea, ‘I tell ya.’ It is unfortunately a mundane reality. I apologise if somehow the language offended ya sensibilities in some way such that you assumed the writer assumed herself to be showboating some kind of profundity. What a weird response lol. I also remember when going corporate was frowned upon and participated in numerous anti-Nike protests outside stores - before Nike effectively sponsored skaters to gain an ‘edge.’ What is strange regarding Fire Toolz is that their music is like a simulation of styles that were formerly created with somewhat more originality. The fact that so many folks seem to adore them, given the depth of musical history that the Toolz emerges from and references, strikes me as really disappointing regarding the historical trajectory of humanity amongst US liberalism. This is not meant to be profound, just critical. But criticism is becoming increasingly rare in US culture, as though it is the product of ‘haterz’ or tall poppy syndrome (one sees this especially in the response of US comedians to any remote criticism). This is not intended to be profound, I tell ya… just severely disappointing in a disappointingly mundane way.
Oh please no offense taken I hate to tell ya. Please continue your thesis for submittal to the Journal Of Nobody Gives a Sh!t.

Tim, hire me to mix the audio on your shoes pleaaaase
His footwear sounds atrocious
Seriously though, the audio on these live shows is atrocious. Just have a person monitor it for a few seconds when a new person is added to a mic and make level adjustments. It's not that hard.
39:57
Tube bottoms for men is a real thing it’s just called something different but those kinds of products are actually available for men who want their waist lines to be just visibly trim looking. so I don’t know if I can count the city of the day add this time boys. it was funny but it doesn’t really count as a city of the day ad. I feel like it’s gotta be made up to really count. Still funny though.
How does Steve Friggin Albini have terrible mic technique
Poor vision?
He was not getting paid to mic
>she
Boy, that Ozzy thing… that will certainly not be in the Best of Office Hours 2022 highlight reel. Feel like I need to take a bath.
Unfunny shit...glad Albini called him out on that bullshit.
Is Tim just having highly highly panic attack, or out of touch .. or both?
Dunno. You having a great time being a couch commentator on live performances without doing one yourself?
@@bobroberts2217 they're allowed to have a viewpoint without needing to be in tim's position. if you didn't like the taste of a sandwich would it be fair for me to say "how about you become a chef and then we'll talk?"
For a guy that was in a band called "Rapeman" Albini sure is a moralistic type like for one the people wanted to go on Stern instead of just be nobodies. Tim & Eric were acused of exploitation as well while hiring actors and musicians.
Irony...
Albini also is a giant creep who likes to look at CP
Those soundbites are just awful
It’s so cool when my heroes tip their hats specifically to monotheism most of us were indoctrinated into. Believing things without evidence has never caused any problems ..or national coups. Also it doesn't sound creepy and stupid at all. We should use the same religious phrases for all eternity.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who finds wwdtm unbearable
I thought it was cool how Steve Albini didn't just roll over and ignore/laugh at Tim's ableist impression. I've loved Mr. Heidecker's work since Awesome Show, but OHL is honestly sapping the absurdist allure of his prior works. Tim, for the sake of your career, please go back into character.
Yeah loved Albini calling him out on that bullshit. Tim generally could use a few less sycophants around him, it seems.
Cool and opinion discarded. Thanks
