    I started so many mages in 1999 but I played humans so it was qeynos. Qeynos is handy because of the guards and tons of targets and the ability to sell without having to zone.

      @doctornachoz8099 Před 5 lety

      That can be very handy on a new TLP since zoning usually results in a crash during the first few hours the server is up.

    Yes an Erudite mage was my first character back in 1999. :) I liked summoning weapon and armor that was actualy usefull at this time.

      Back then I think the Erudite was the best when it came to starting INT. At what level can you summon armor and weapons. If it's not too late in the game they might be decent items for Classic.

      I just looked up the spells again, no armor in classic. But weapons start at level 1. everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=603

      Wow, not bad at all! Giving them to the pets makes the pet even deadlier!!

    Magician is great solo class, and also excellent for farming plat like in rathe mountains later on

      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety

      Really good solo class. The pets at the start are always yellow to you and can tear through stuff so easily. I was going to make one, but wanted the druid for the Sow and teleports.

      Magician at lvl 20-21 can consistently solo red cons and 20s is when they really peak. After that solo to 50 is pretty easy as long as you can get single pulls.

      On Agnarr the mage was the fastest to level.

      Going way bck pre mercs you had a healthy player base so groups and guilds were easy to find. Add enough would add to friends so you always had a solid group of people to hit zones with.

    I always prefer Steamfont (Gnomes) for int casters. Lots of decaying skeletons and kobold runts for coin weapon and armor drops, then you move onto the dead dragon, or windmill area. And the trek to GrFay for Chrushbone is completely easy and safe. Also have the minotaur caves, for those sweet Mino axes.
    But really every race if viable, its' just a matter of spending your points right at start to make up for weaknesses in your stat pool. Now being say an Erudite paladin will be a little tougher than being a Dwarf paladin until you start getting gear to make up for stats, which doesn't really happen until top level in classic. But it's really not that big of a deal. And everyone should play what's fun to them.
    You should show making an erudite necro, or a troll shadowknight or some things other than starting around Qeynos and Kelethin.

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety

      Oh yeah, forgot about those Mino Axes. Troll Sk and Erudite necro sound like great good ideas! I think the trolls get regen too.

    • @georgeyates6567
      @georgeyates6567 Před 7 lety

      +Cats Meow Yeah Trolls regen but think Ogre make best war/SK just for no frontal stuns.
      I mained a barb rogue but every other race I did was evil. Loved dark elf starting zone. Probably going dark elf mage on new server maybe enchanter...I can solo either when necessary.

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety

      Also, ogres have more stamina and hit points. I 'm really thinking about going mage more and more. The chances we can create one big mage army is so high!

    • @Greldek
      @Greldek Před 7 lety

      It's true ogres are the best shadowknights, and warriors, and shamans. But its not always about playing the best. I mained an Ogre shaman for years, highest HP no frontal stun made for a beast shaman. Its OK to play by min maxing, but kind of takes some of the charm away from the game, if everyone just plays the same thing cause they're the best.

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety +1

      I've started on the Troll SK guide and the first 5 levels have as fast as and maybe faster than the mage due to the +4 regen. I did 1-3 just off the spiders in grobb then 4-5 kill frogs and kobolds.

  • @georgeyates6567
    @georgeyates6567 Před 7 lety +1

    Mage is crazy, started one on test last night got to 4 in like 30 min. Biggest changes from my old days able to get a pet at lvl 2,3,4 then 5th (old days all 4 pets at 4th) and they are max lvl. So running around at lvl 2 with a lvl 5 pet is insane. Used to need to summon/reclaim till got higher lvl pet think used to be random 3-5 lvl.

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety

      Yes! I was impressed with how fast they level! For the first 2 levels you can do it without the pet and get full exp. 30 mins on the test server is about 1 hour on the live servers. So, when Agnarr opens, it's just going to be a matter of finding stuff to kill for the mage. Later on you get a spell to heal the pet and a fire shield. The next part to this video has the mage teaming up with the druid in Crushbone. With harmony we can single pull and the druid heals the pet so it never dies! I had to remind myself to stop the video at level 10 because they were leveling too fast!

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety

      The leveling was so fast that when I made the level 5-10 part of the video, I didn't buy enough of the spells above my level, LOL. The leveling was so fast I had to go all the way back to Felwithe to buy them. Then there was the time I wet through one level so fast I that I'd forgotten to turn on the video capture software,

      +Cats Meow Couldn't you just bind close by then use Origin port. Maybe let a guard kill you to get back to bind spot if don't have gate yet. ;)

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety

      I never thought about that, LOL. Good thing I didn't put that in the video of my running all the way back, haha! Things you don't realize when you're leveling too fast. :)

    Nice video !
    Btw i'm planning on playing EQ for the first time and Magician caught my eye, now the question us what race do you think i should choose ? I was thinking of choosing Erudite. What do you think about that ?
    Or should i even play a Magician considering it's my first time playing EQ so i was thinking what class&race is a new-player-friendly ? And which server should i choose.

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 5 lety

      I think the Erudite is a great choice since they have the best stats. I think the Mage is an easy class to play, but later on the necro is more powerful. Since this is your first time, I would suggest trying different classes on one of the live servers by starting in the tutorial mission. This is a good place to test out new toons up to level 10 or so. As for the server, you can play for free on a live server or subscribe for one of the TLP servers. Between the two new TLPs, Mangler is the bests choice since it has the most population density and will offer more chances to get groups. Good luck and welcome back!

    • @nakoretarako3696
      @nakoretarako3696 Před 5 lety

      @@doctornachoz8099 Ahh yeah i might just try all the classes that pick my interest, cause before i choose Magician there's couple other class that look interesting to me like Enchanter, Druids, Paladin, Wizard and of course Necromancer.
      Anyway thanks a lot for the recommendation i'll definitely keep that in mind.

    Nice video :) What class would you suggest for solo play on the Agnarr server? Necromancer? Mage? or something else?

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety

      Hi Geraldc717, After making the Mage video, it looks like the mage by a long shot. In the old days the Necro was a lot stronger as you went up in levels, but since then a lot has changed. For example, I never remember the mage being such a powerhouse. Add in the great starting position of the high elf mage and the only problem is finding stuff to kill.

    • @doctornachoz8099
      @doctornachoz8099 Před 7 lety

      If we all make mages and get together we'll look just like those Boxed mage armies you see running around all the time, LOL.
