Mud Skipper Prop Speed test
1432 Lowe Jon Boat
Mud Skipper 2 Piece Longtail kit with 7'' Prop
Powered by Honda GX200 6.5 HP Motor
Weight in Boat-
Me- 190 lbs
Toolbox for motor 10lb
Paddle 1.5 lbs
Seat 5 lbs
Misc gear - 5-10 lbs
Today I took out my buddy Rodney's 1432 to see how fast it would go with my mud motor. I previously tested it on a 1232 sears Gamefisher and got 15 mph and I thought I would get close to that in the bigger boat as it would not sit as low in the water. I was spot on as the difference was only 1 mph as I got 14 mph.

Nice set-up. That’s all the speed I would need. I have a 14/48 Lowe with 25/20 hp jet and several times wish I had the Mud-Skipper instead. Like in the Fall with all the leaves ya can’t use the jet. 🙁. Have fun with it and be safe!
Bob where do you use the jet drive??
Got it to use mostly on Dan River out of Milton. Have also used it on the Dan in Danville and Eden. Roanoke River in the Gaston and Weldon area. Pee Dee at Rockingham. Lakes Kerr, Philpott, Reidsville, etc.
Lately, I think I’ve had it out two times in the last two years. 🙁
@@bobbeckert8863 I have used mine on the Dan at anglers park. The Tar and the Roanoke and Staunton. I bought it just basically for the Dan, tar and Roanoke.
@@bobbeckert8863 cool. I used to fish Milton alot. when I lived in Burlington(just north or B'ton) it was like 25 miles to Milton. Got my first nice Blue cat maybe 1 mile above milton.
We used to do a lot of night fishing around Milton. And Angler Park as well.
Haven’t done much of anything the last couple years. 🙁
I got the same Honda engine that I want to get a long tail kit for. To put on my 1448 lowe. I guess I should get at least 12-13 mph with that setup. ( Beats rowing)
Honda's Rock! best motors out there but i My try a bigger Predator motor
is the motor you are using the gx200 that would be a 6.5hP?
yes. taking it out this thursday, Hopefully.
What octane level were you using? Any Ethanol added?
VP 94 non ethanol..its what I run in all my 4 cycle equipment
Lemme know when you want to get out on the porta bote
