I hope that Preludes stay hidden from the jdm prices hype... Wouldn't want to have this gem ruined by crazy prices
It's safe because it's the least special Honda, if we ignore odyssey
@@MyRealName no its not some dbag at a dealership in New Hampshire is selling one with 200k miles for 12gs I'm pretty sure it's still for sale.
Dont worry its fwd
Jdm brainless plants will never be impressed by non type R badge
@@MyRealName hey agitated rat. Spit your hate somewhere else
I’m not a big JDM guy, but man there is something about 90s Hondas- especially the interiors. They just look and feel special- and you just know that engine will never fail.
Jdm guys are a bunch of idiots anyway that hate Hondas and Preludes especially
even the velour cloth on those seats don't wear much
jdm guys hate hondas ? cmon crx /civic are top jdm cars@@justanothertroll9205
The most excitment he gets is from Prelude, while regulary having 300 km/h cars on channel
That's the Prelude. It doesn't seem like much when you look at the stats, but once you get behind the wheel, it is so fun.
Just bought a 2.0i for 3.400€ only 120.000 km on it, big Steal. Didnt run for 10 years, drove it home almost 300km, no problem. So hyped about all the parts that I will get. Great Car
I owned a 2001 Prelude SH. I was in an accident with a semi-truck that didn't see me, so the car was scraped shortly after. I really miss that car. I really loved when the H22 VTEC kicked in (yo), the steering and handling was fantastic. It felt so well put together. I would pick one up again if I had the space for it!
I had an 89 Prelude with AWS. Once you passed 120 mph it drove like an entirely different car, it was amazing.
This video made me miss my (much beloved) '95 Accord Wagon. Same engine, automatic transmission, super smooth ride, lots of space in the cabin, HUGE boot, and an interior to die for, with a very similar dash to this Prelude and velvet seats. Pure and simple elegance!
I've got a 97 v6 camry wagon and it's mint brother. I miss my 97 lude though, great car for beginners.
The phrase - the revs climes so slowly, I have never heard in such an enthusiastic voice. That's what real engineering means, you don't need lot of power if the engineering was right.
Sir, You should experience a 4th gen 2.2 or .2.3 liter Prelude with 4Wheel Stering. It lift off oversteers in stock form, so you can throw it into corners
Prelude army for the win! Bought it last month as my first car too, same model plus sunroof! Super happy can’t wait to drive it again once I’m back from university!!
When these Preludes were new I really wanted one, it was a really cool car and still is
Bedankt voor deze prachtige video! Leuk om de oprechte enthousiasme te delen. Hier word ik ontzettend blij van.
My first car is a 97 prelude 2.0i this made my day
Wow i hope i can get it one day too
@@jimby_vokk3110 i watched your video and that color and the rims are very compatible i like it. Unfortunately im 16 and its really hard to buy a car in my country 😐
oh thanks man! glad you like it, i'm 17 aswell and come from a poor country and I managed to buy it after 1.5 years of saving up haha
@@jimby_vokk3110 I'm about to buy my first car and I've been amazed by preludes since I was 16 and here in Portugal the only ones I have money for is the 2.0i. I want to know what was your experience with the car!!
@@peterzin_2246 hey! Go for it dude they're super fun and the f20 motor has parts easily available, you won't regret it, unfortunately mine blew a headgasket 4 days ago but it's getting rebuilt soon, nevertheless 10/10 experience and i highly recommend you buy one, just make sure it doesn't consume much oil and is a manual trans prelude !
dude in the back seat trying to rock that extra 1 kmh out xD
I'm glad I managed to get one for me. Exceptionally reliable car. It's not fast but it's alive. Driving it is fun and she's an eye catcher. Saw many heads turning
I like how the wheel wells don't have the wide flat area around the opening that all modern cars have.
A high school friend had a Prelude Type SH and that thing was a blast to drive around.
14:05 i spit out my drink through my nose hahahahaha 😂😂😂
Double wishbone on a base model is just affordable madness
I still like that italic font on the gauge cluster, still looks modern even for today standards.
A living legend.❗🔥❤️💪
Honda's gold era.... I owned Accord 2.0 CL7 for 9 years, just basic maintenance, sold it, still drives, never any faults or shit. Great cars
just finished manual swapping my VTi-R, engine is ticking think it could be valves, but after that is sorted cant wait to drive it!
Always liked the Prelude and wanted one
just got one as a first car at 16 very hyped to start making it look better
Decades ago i had 1986 2nd gen.
1.8L 12V with 2x carbs, 100hp.
There was no metal parts under the paint, but engine and gearbox were working very well.
Completely agree, love the looks & sounds great
I had this car as a second car I think, same engine red color. Great car it was, quite comfortable and easy to drive although engine is slightly lifeless
I own a very similar car as my winter car/DD. I gotta say the double wishbone suspension is amazing. It rides way better then most modern cars. 👍
Everytime I think about replacing it, I just can't do it since it's just such a great value. It does it's job everytime, comfortably, & without issue. Great cars.
It will be 10 years this year as I own bb9 prelude. It has a f20b sir-t 200hp engine with t2w4 gearbox from jdm euro r cl1 accord insted of stock f20a4. First car(if it's a right one) is like a first love, I'm just not able to sell it, perfect car.
bought mine about 3 years ago and it’s an amazing car 😍i love it and here in my country they’re really rare so its a real head turner
Props for the Prelude review but would love to see you do the 5th Gen Vtec Engine too please. Way more fun.
I own a 5th gen Prelude. Also the 2.0i version, but with sunroof. They are extremely fun cars to drive!
Nice car, good video 👍
I had a '97 2.0 manual as first car and can agree!
You are a young 19 year old who has a Honda Prelude as your first car, then waiting to get your license to finally blast it out on the roads...
I can't imagine how much excitement and fun he has on his very first day driving it with his license. I'm jealous lmao
I bought the car in January 2022 and I got my license that may. It was a very long wait but I 100% don't regret buying it. It needs a lot of work but I really believe it's worth it.
@@Rijnoes It's worth it. You'll have a blast with it.
I fkin want a prelude from this period frl
I had the earlier model with the pop up headlights, light nimble fun car.
Great car!! I would really like to see a toyota celica 7th gen on your channel.
Really love this car! Would love to own one, unfortunately these are getting harder and harder to find!
My first car was a 2005 Hyundai Coupe 2.0 GK. Need for speed touched me :)) Was the perfect car for that period of time.
Love it memories of the 90 s .not many about in england now
My first car! 1998 Prelude in black with 2.0i Motor and 4gear Automatic.
great..thanks..now I want one even more!
I just bought one(surprisingly well preserved, legit 146K mileage) as my own first actual car (even though I've been occasionally service driving for 10 years) And I'm absolutely in love! I'm easy to please because I've been a sports car fanboy all my life, and I live in a pretty poor country so getting the money together was pretty tough(Which made it all the more satisfying)
I am in love. I needn't more than 133 hp, there is no place around to drive it faster, and it still scares the sh*t out of me this way! Even the factory exhaust is rather loud(balanced) and angry-sounding. one complaint about your comment on the simplicity of the package - not all budget cars come with seat heating, electric side mirror adjustment, electric-controlled sunroof and a couple more fancy things (especially in 2000) but every prelude had all those by default.
That's some really nice gear as standard by my book. Cheers to all prelude mk.5 drivers, the 2.0i is really nice and handles nicely as you pointed. Design is timelessly sexy, a real bad boy Honda. Once again - buy one before it's too late, they may never get too expensive, but now is better than ever.
i bought the same car a month ago its awesome the only diff is mine is ecu tunned and has a little bit more power
I bought a bb9 almost 20 years ago, I was 19. Such a fun, reliable and beautiful car. I loved it so much 🥰
Do you have an automatic or manual bb9? Im thinking of buying one but heard its automatic transmission is broke after 100000km
@@kvylsue Manual transmission, no issues with it after 150000. Even the cluth lasted with no signs of wear. Just change the oils make the bb9 run like forever
I didn't realise they put such a low power engine in the base prelude. My first car was a 97 Prelude - VTi-R. I'm pretty sure they almost had 200hp. Such a fun car ❤
my favorite generation prelude, and one of my favorite Hondas. Hopefully Honda will reintroduce this car someday.
chances are ZERO!
No. Modern Honda ruins cars. Just look at the new teggie.
There's a new electric one 🤦♂️
14:05 the forbidden boost method😂😂😂😂
I need one of these
Opel Calibra would be cool to see
I just bought a 2.2 vti prelude two days ago as my first car. Really fun to drive
Many congrats. I used to own a 2.2 vti & it was always great to drive.
Currently have a 7th gen accord LX, my dream car is the 5th gen prelude!
i have a 1997 honda prelude supercharged, it have 400 whp, a monster to drive
Amazing car
You should test the top of the line Honda Prelude that comes with a 220hp h22a engine.
Lool, had a grey one as my first car in 2015😂🤌🏽 most fun and cheap car ever
I have a 2023 civic si and I wish it sounded half as good as this
I was looking at one of these but a 2 litre car in Ireland for a new driver is a pain in the hole with insurance and tax, got a Honda CRZ instead but man that Prelude is gorgeous!
yeah insurance isn't cheap😅
Back in the day!!! 👍
My first car was a 94 accord coupe u.s. version with a manual gearbox and 2.2 vtec. Had a lot of fun driving and modding it. The only problem was that after that car, anything in my price range felt so unstable and mediocre.
I had a 92 4th gen VTEC, loved it. I think it was better looking than the square 5th gen.
@@chrisdowey I really like this 5th gen, but I definitely prefer the 4th gen!
You can find a lot of upgrades for this car and engine (f20a/b), it can also take close to 300hp stock with a turbo 😁
300 hp? How? I'm not great on engine codes but you must be getting confused with the F20 VTEC found in the s2k. The f20 in this would need to be boosted to reach that number
@@HendrickT-bi4iw s2k F20 is called F20C, im talking about the Accord F20A/B its a strong engine and you can turbo it for 300hp without changing pistons or anything.
@@NjoyMoney ah ok. I missed read what you meant. Yeah, I've seen these engines hit 300 with a turbo. But the connecting rods are usually a common failure on them.
boys help me out.. i want a 2nd car to have fun with you know, just driving it with friends taking corners at night driving with friends. i want it to handle good in the corners and i needs to sound cool. is the prelude a good one for that?
I’m already on my 6th car at 18 and now I’m wanting a 90s prelude😂
Hondas are the best. Still own my 1996 ek with d16y8 swapped
veri nice car bro
I have a 2003 acura CL, a little fancier sportier prelude, highly underrated car
I wouldn't say the CL is sportier since it is like 300kg heavier but the CL is very cool tho :)
heree in maalaysia most of prelude or predator change to k20z or k24 put it fn2 airbox and fd2r gearbox
Respect
Hey AutoTopNL, when are you going to do a Smart Roadster Brabus?
Love my VTI with 4ws
👍 Very Nice Car 👍
I bought Prelude today. Love it.. I always wanted this car but honestly as a tall person with 195cm I feel a little bit awkward dude to that nobody could sit behind me lol.. I understand that its a japanese car but i did not think about that my height could be a problem lol
Please, made a video about Mitsubishi Galant VR4 or Legnum (the same as a VR4 but combi). Petrolhead emotions guaranteed
I hope one day i can buy this car and put k20 turbo it would be a dream come true🤍
i had a friend. back in early 2000x, he had some honda, dont remember exact: Prelude or some kind of other coupe.
---------
it was imported from japan. all inside (engine, etc) was 100% made in japan!
he once told me he did not open hood utntil 50,000 mils , there was no need. according warranty!
--------
back then those cars were pretty much immportal!
ps
i had camry. sedan. pretty good car too,
This is exactly the same car as the first car I bought myself. Have been driving Hondas ever since ❤
I'm about to buy my first car and I've been amazed by preludes since I was 16 and here in Portugal the only ones I have money for is the 2.0i. I want to know what was your experience with the car!!
@@peterzin_2246 i have one, i bought i like 1 and a half years ago for 1600 euros as my first car (2.0 engine), the one i got had some problems with rust and the engine ate a lot of oil and had low compresion and the shocks were blown out as well and even with all of those problems i drove it for the first 5 or 6 months with no problems, it drove like a dream and the engine just refused to give up, my dad has a 35th edition golf mk6 gti, he has had that car for 10 years and drove it everywhere, after he drove my prelude he said it drives much nicer than the gti (not as powerful tho :)) and he also said that he won't let me sell it cuz if i don't want it anymore he does so i think that says a lot. The car is in the garage currently getting fully restored by me and him so to sum all of it up, i can say that i 100% recomend the honda prelude. I am open to any questions.
@@raccoon4644 daaamn bro, It must be so nice to restore a car by yourself and your dad, good luck man. Anyways, you are saying that the 2.0 even without the 4ws and slow, it's a good first car?
@@raccoon4644 imagine if your dad buys the 2.2 vtec one and both of you drive with preludes, it would be awesome hahaha
@@raccoon4644 you really gave me back the willing to buy a prelude, I was already giving up but now I want it again haha. I just want to know what is the feeling of driving it and if its confortable, in the front and in back seats.

Could you make a video of a e36 320i or 328i
I've got a turbocharged one of these :3
US Prelude owner here - What inspection was it that the Honda didn't pass because of the rust in the wheel well? I'm not sure we have that inspection here in the US because it doesn't sound familiar, so I'm curious what that's about.
One thing that this era of Hondas have is multi-link or double wishbone front suspension. These cars not only handled well but it goes over bumps very well.
Honda has subsequently cave in and joined the cheap MacPherson struct suspension design.
Today, you will need to get a minimum of a Mercedes C-class or Audi A4 or Lexus IS to get a good high end suspension.
Oh, Honda engine are well-known to have no torque. that's why no wheel spin.
Review a Fiesta zetec S mk7 !!!!
Please test drive BB4 Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec
There is an abandoned Prelude parked in front of my school and i was thinking about buying it when i will turn 18
it’s a 2.2L VTEC
Could you try driving the BMW 114i? I think it is a nice competitor to the Prelude :)
You can get a Se model prelude.
But the the type Sh model is the model you want.
there must be something wrong with his car as i have the 2l and 2.2l and my 2l same as that does 6.4 seconds and wheel spins in first 3 gears i have timing a little advanced and i rebuilt the engine with new rings ect but no power mods
This car looks so powerful and sporty❤
Oh I had it, the 2.0 version as my second car 14 years ago and I remember regreting every minute for not buying 2.2 VTEC version lol
But the 2.0 it was still a good car right? 😅
I want to buy one but the 2.2 are too expensive
@@peterzin_2246 good...kind of yes, I mean it was very reliable. But also very very slow, and another huge disadvantage from 2.2 model is that 2.0 doesn't have 4 wheel sterring, which you realize how much is needed the first time you are going in and out of parking lot lol
@@LooK253 thx for answering. I really like the prelude but the 2.2 it's 12k euros meanwhile the 2.0 is just 6k, I thout about buying the saab 9-3 or 9-5 because it's more powerful and cheap but I mean, it's not as clean as the prelude
@@peterzin_2246you can swap the inlet and exhaust manifold for the h23 on the prelude 2.0i. It will still look stock under the engine bay and you'll gain between 20 to 30 hp
What is the exact name of that exhaust system and how loud is it? I love how it sounds, but in Poland we can only have ~93bd and I’m wondering if it will be too loud.
It's a SRS G50 cat back. I don't know how many decibels it makes. It does come with a DB killer. With the DB killer in the exhaust it's not loud
@@Rijnoes thanks a lot sir
i really wish but unfortunately can't have it 😢
