Sorta same. I played from release and for a couple years after that then stopped. I got back into it recently and studied building techniques and I realized how much better my settlements look now. What would take me forever before, that would look like trash, now looks good and takes 1/3 of the time lmao. Hey, that’s the beauty of games though. Come back after some time and ya learn something ya didn’t before and it’s like playing it again for the first time :)

Guys.. quit using all your grenades to move skeletons. Just free-grab a tire and sweep them like you've got a broom. There's usually one nearby nearly every settlement. It's so much better.

i did a small town here, large and small water purifier in the pond, wire fence surround, with a posted chair and table for the "person assigned to the waterworks. did a doctor shack and a couple of milti story houses, one build up and around a car as if its being refurbished with a couple of workbenches, scavenging station and toolboxes, too look like the car is being worked on. multiple shops, a diner using the main building with some radstag and deathclaw mounts on the walls, a couple of nuka machines fully stocked, loads of farm stuff.. im not done with it but im really proud of it. I may do something in the future to show off my settlements. Each video causes me to go back into working on my settlements. You're inspiring man. Your cooking pit with the fire underneath, i do something similar but i do it with the fire barrels instead.

  • @justincastro8964

Okay here’s a few tips man. If you want to move things that when you try and move them an alert says it’s too heavy to move, all you have to do is drop a weapon or anything like it, pick it up like you would to place it and use it to push the “too heavy” items. This works for skeletons, engines and even cars. The only cars you can manipulate are ones that blow up. Tip two is about the size glitch. The best weapons to use hands down are gamma guns. My preferred way is to use 5 of them upgrade all 5 with the big dish then get 5 more and drop and use them specifically for this. I use 5 because I won’t have to deal with the multiple drop menu and differentiating them with mods will allow for a very quick and efficient method for size glitching.

Nicely done. I began playing about 4 months ago, and Starlight went on my dream list to do something big like this, a fully walled town. I've been at for a while, good progress, but your build will make me rethink a few things, like zoning and partitioning, cutting down on the vast openness to create comfy living spaces. With a junk wall mod I use, you can build off the walls, so I kind of went overboard, walling around the entire usable space. I did that to try to keep the drive-in theme (I even attempted to patch the screen). I also like your point about decentralizing food; a big farm uses much space and kind of detracts from a theme. Well, it'll take me ages to complete at my rate, but I'll refer back here for inspiration. Cheers.

  • @cybercapri
    @cybercapri Před měsícem +1

If you are using the Place Anywhere Mod, you can actually move the downed side of the Starlight and put it back into place; therefore you're able to reclaim that space under it. It's either Place Anywhere or Scrap Everything Mod that allows you to pickup the fallen roof; either way it's worth putting back into place. Of course you won't get it 100% but even the other side isn't 100% but it still looks good with both sides up vs one side being down. Food for thought....

Great build! I built my first arena at Starlight, but when Nuka World came out I got a bit obsessed with the NW Red Rocket and built a massive arena there, it looks a lot like a paintball arena. Using the CC Settlement Ambush kit as well it's become a constant warzone. Starlight got remade into a mega settlement only rivalled in size by Sanctuary.

I like this a lot. I play on ps5, used to play on ps4 so finding mods to help with builds wasnt super possible. My favorite build i ever did was a place anywhere mod, and i used that at star light drive in to build a whole restaurant under the one good wing of the drive in. I cant remember the name of the restaurant anymore. Think it was under the awning diner? Used a bar and some booths to really get that vibe. An arena there is also super nice. Feels like a better use of such a massive building space. That might be the next one i do on my playthrough.

Great job on the build and thank you for the video ✌️🙂
I put in two 7 story buildings for a Power Armor Assembly Factory with a conveyor belt system and walkways connecting the two buildings and P.A suits in different stages of builds...
Also filled it with over 500 P.A Suits and a Legenday Weapons.
Then for some crazy reason a P.A Suit line-up consisting of 250 suits all the way over to Abernathy Farms and my two 18 story Twin Towers... made of 3 stories concrete and 2 glass stories alternating back and forth and top floors is the glass penthouses. In tower 1 there is a Legendary weapons vault with 5000+ weapons
All of this was done w/o any mods.

Starlight Drive-In would make a great Capitol for the Soul Survivors "new commonwealth", its a shame that most of us end up with all of our best NPC traders and stalls in Sanctuary when this prime real estate is just down the road and pretty central on the map.

JUST A TIP AT THE END, HOPE YOU CAN READ THIS. (btw sorry for the english)
love this videos, of years I been playing I have never found this kind of videos and I just want to give you like a small tip for connecting the cables and maybe you like it, instead of using the pillar glich with the generator you can do this->
if you don't like to have any noise near your constructions or just don't like to put a generator in the middle of somewhere you can put it as far as you want and later put a ground power conduit in front and connect it to the generator, when you have that ready put another power counduit wherever you want, now with the first power conduit connected to the generator you are going to see that black cable try to stand behind of the ground power conduit and put your camera on the cable and you will see the glowing color of your workshop yk,
so you are going to put your camera on the generator with that glowing color and you are going to press the botton connect, one you make that there would be like no cable in your screen but your are going to hear the sound and now you are going to the other power conduit and press again the connect button and that way you will access to connect cables anywhere literally anywhere and it works also doing it with other power conduit, put one in the ground connect it to a first one then put another wherever you want and doing that thing with te cable. Hope this can help you somehow :D
Also you can combine it with the pillar glich XD.

Just a little tip if you’ve hit your settlement building threshold and want to build beyond that limit easily without using mods, then you can store power lines connecting to two power circuit objects when you have open whatever object you want to craft and it’ll spawn that item thinking you removed an item. Then after you place your newly spawned object, you can reattach another power line to those power circuit objects without the engine thinking you’re crafting a new object and rinse and repeat.

The side with the collpaed roof, i use as a small home. I use the smallest vanilla walls and wall it off. I then put the matress in the projector room in there, asingle light, and a cooking station.
I have no DLC's for Fallout 4, even though I've had the game since it was new. I made Sarlight a small town like what Oxhorn did.
The settlers profit off of showing movies, but the flags are The Railroad and The Minutemen on the bilboard outside of the gates.
All these years, and I've SLOWLY goi g through the game. I have multiple save files, and in each, the settlements are exactly the same.
I do that because it just makes it seem like my files are all in the same world.

Not checked the comments so if someone else has reference this I apologise.
To reduce your settlement size larger weapons aren't necessarily better. Gamma guns, plasma guns and the weapon mods that have visual parts in them ( not the ones in closed boxes) have a much better reduction to the size bar. This helps to reduce the bar quicker than mini guns and missile launchers.

3:06 Group selecting the entire build and lifting it up would allow you to snap in the lower walls. After which you could group select it and lower it again. Glitching yourself under the map is another method that will often allow low walls like those to snap in. From the thumbnail I know you used junk fences which ended up looking better anyway.
5:07 If you ever get some gamma guns hold on to them. They are by far the best for reducing the sizebar. Give them a try sometime.
Great job with the junk decor on this settlement.

My biggest problem with fallout 4 settlement creation, is that even without mods, the amount of information that you have available to set up your settlement is very limited. If you go past this cap, with mods or hacks, your game becomes unstable. If you stay within them, then you really can't be as creative as most of us want to be, and still have a relatively stable game.

    Save your grenades.
You can push the corpses with other items that can be picked up like dropped weapons, tyres, trash cans.
Items that are flat and scooped shaped are even better like barricades.
If you take these items far away, like to a different cell they'll stop reappearing.

Let say you want to move an object if you enter console command then click with mouse on that object it should give you ID. Next simply start typing modpos to move that object. For instance you see fence post that is 2 ft above the ground. Console, click on it than modpos z -10. The negative sign in front of the number modpos z -10 will move object down while modpos z 10 will move it up, x and y will move it north, south, east or west. The negative sign in front of number will be kind of like reverse on car transmission. At first it might be little strange but in few minutes you will get hang of it and all you settlements would look a lot better. Whenever I build my settlements I go for creative and more believable settlements not extravagant slums. Also be mindfully that your game will load slower and run poor if you build huge settlements. I always go for 6 to 10 settlers and build walls around with defenses.
One feature that I wish this game had would be allocating settlements to play specific role. Such as farming, water supply, scrap, military base, research & development, education, flee market (well Dimond City plays that role kind of).....This way each settlement would be unique.

the insects probably aren't a good idea since they can fly they just might fly out of the arena
(saw someone make an arena with like 20 Gunner cages, it does cause them to randomly attack the settlement to try to free them, but they had like 4-5 rocket turrets to take them out)
I'm thinking trying a fairly small area but have the pool have water purifiers & a generator enclosed so can't be attacked, then have cages built against the screen with an open area for them to come out into but would be either Raiders or gunners (for ammo, weapon & armor) maybe have shops to buy stuff I get from the cages (also try to give the settlers mini-guns and combat armor, as I have had Sanctuary with everyone with mini-guns and but they were all wearing vault suits, it takes a long time to find 20 miniguns)

You probably could've used the warehouse or barn grate floors for the spectator entrance. it probably would've kept a similar theme, and would've probably been cheaper than concrete. Plus there are more variations to it than the concrete grate floor.

I ised this area to create a baseball field. The large movie screen was "the green monster" wall like you would see in the Boston Red Sox stadium.
I used creepy mannequins as players.

If youre on console and hit a build cap, and i dont think i heard him mention, you can drop weapons and scrap them, they give useful resources and drops your build meter more tham normal stuff

I saw a video a couple years ago that found the size glitch worked based on polygons or something. They also found that for some reason folders work really well as dropables.
If that still works? They're OP bcause they weigh 0. Awesome build by the way.
I've been thinking of ways to turn hangmans into a nuka cola quantlet experience.

I like to integrate the movie screen into the arena wall when I build here. I want it to be like an entire resort kind of like a compact version of the Strip combined with a fight pit to gamble on as well.

These builds are sick. I'd just started settlement building properly I've spend hours learning what works and doesn't and my save file has been corrupted this morning. I've had to delete everything and redownload everything I'm very upset as you can imagine 😅 my save had 3days worth of play time 😬
