Finally someone react to this masterpiece..
Cusak almost carrys this movie alone. I had no idea he was capable of this level of acting. I love the surreal bits, just getting worse and worse. You are the first reactor to this under-rated little gem that I have seen, and you did a wonderful job of letting us join in your confusion and unsettlement.
Cusack's finest performance. Such a damn good film!
You must see " identity"...
The maintenance man was real. It's why he wouldn't step into the room. He already knows and is smart.
and leaves immediately when its fixed đ he ain't sticking around đ€Ł
It's terrible when Mike sees his daughter cuz you can't help but think that she's going to turn into some monster or demon to cause a jump-scare but then you witness something 1,000 times worse
The book actually had a different ending where Mike lit his shirt on fire which allowed him to escape. Also he described the entity as not a ghost but horrifically inhuman. Which makes me believe itâs more of demonic presence if anything else.
1408 is probably a younger, weaker version of the entity in The Overlook Hotel in The Shining. That entity started with just one room as well, but just grew more powerful through the years. Both seem to be the same species as Pennywise/It/Whatever you want to call that entity stuck in Derry, Maine, just not strong enough to manifest a single, coherent, and cohesive personality yet.
@@LongandWeirdName interesting theory
@@danielladuck3323 A Stephen King maniac would probably debunk it in minutes, if not seconds. I'm just someone into a few of his books and their movie adaptations. I still have huge gaps in the lore of his shared universe. More of a Lovecraft expanded(including the works of others accepted into the modern canon of the mythos) universe guy myself, as well as a fanatic of all demonic possession movies, comics, and series loosely based on Judeo-Christian expanded mythology(Bible, books by saints, official Church doctrine, etc), from The Exorcist, through the Hellblazer comics, to Supernatural.
I like to think the weirdo that attacked Enslin at the window was Pennywise himself
That's the better ending. The Director's Cut has him dying in the room with a cheap jumpscare at the funeral.
My son loved this so much he made 1408 part of his gamertag for years lol.
Such a good movie. I believe there's alternate endings too.
Yep, 3 endings total, including one where he doesn't make it, my favourite.
@@xhul2558 I know about the tape recorder ending and the one where he dies whatâs the other ending?
@@danielladuck3323 Actually, there are 4 total. Type that exact string in youtube search field: "1408 (2007) - Alternate Endings". It includes the 2 lesser known ones. Cheers.
eevry movie has only 1 ending...
This is one of those movies I've enjoyed more the second and third time I watched it. Really horrific concept! Much love and scares! J.
Yep, I thought it was just okay the first time and each new viewing it gets better and better. While being fun and playful at times, the last segment with his daughter is just plain cruel (in the best way for this story).
A CZcamsr broke down the appearance of several ghosts in the lobby such as the girl in the adjacent room so there's some new things to discover.
Great reaction!
So glad some one reacted to this hidden gem. Bonus point for watching the theatrical release as well. I enjoy this ending much more than the other alternate endings.
In my opinion. I think thatâs why he decided to investigate the paranormal because I think he wanted to actually find proof. Proof that his daughter went some place else. Another world. And this ending I think does it justice. Kinda like you said. He proved that it was real with the recording. He did indeed see and hear what happened and isnât just a crazy person.
Well put together reaction and I loved the reference to the book as well. You have yourself a new subscriber!
Thank you! I didnât realize that there were alternate endings until seeing comments, so Iâm happy with what I did watch. And I think youâre absolutely spot on about why he was so keen on staying in the room, good point.
@@laurashawnlee I highly suggest watching Real Delusional Pictures' take on the movie.
â@laurashawnlee omg you are absolutely breathtaking and I definitely would've died in 12 seconds
Wow, you are the first one reacting to this great movie. Thank you.
Great reaction! I want more people to react to this movie! It's a masterpiece and John Cusack's performance was really really great!
I read somewhere that Mr. Olin was, originally, supposed to be Mr. Ullman who, decades earlier had managed the Overlook Hotel and had been the man who hired Jack Torrance.
The comparison between the two could be that King probably got the ideas after staying in the RL version of the Overlook, can't remember it's name.
I think his smile at the end is just him remembering his daughter for a brief moment, then coming back to earth. It's freaky to think that the room was able to be recorded, as if the events in the room truly did happen.
The movie actually has a second canon ending where he dies
Love the editing. You have a nice sense of humor.
The foreshadowing with the ârooms on fireâ and when the heater was to hot was brilliant and I only noticed it when I was watching you react to it
That was awesome! Thank you for reacting to this movie!
Its so cool seeing another person watching for the first time, gives back some of the thrill of watching for a first time
I'm so glad you like this movie! I know many people find this movie boring, but to me it was really scaring. I showed it to my best friend and she thought the same as me.
thank you for reacting to this movie, best ever!
Congratulations! You're the first CZcams reactor that has reacted to this horror film. Great reaction! đ
Goosebumps ending! đ„ș Great reaction! đ
The ending means : there is a God
I love this film, it's so underrated, and I loved your reaction!! 1408 is one of the first real horror films I saw in the theaters with my parents lmao, I was only 9 đ€Ł it blew my mind and scared me a lot! I think the surrealist and introspective aspects freaked me out the most! 18:54 scene is so disturbing!
This was my favorite ending out of the ones they shot.. Maybe it's over.. Maybe it's not.. But they're together and she knows he's not crazy...
I ahve watched this movie so many dang times and everytime it hits the scene at 14:17 I cannot help but go into full panic mode. Love the reaction :D
iT MEANT AT THE END THAT HE FINALLY BELIEVES AND HAS SOMEONE WHO CAN VERY PERSONALLY SHARE WITH IT. THERE IS A DIFFERENT SECOND ENDING, BUT MY DAUGHTER AND I PREFER THIS ONE
I'm glad you reacted to the original! That voice recorder moment was crazy.
Great Reaction!!
This film is underrated, it's hard to find a decent psychological thriller these days! You're funny and have a lovely voice đ
I still canât listen to Weâve Only Just Begun without getting creeped out a littleâŠ.. Such a great film personally in my top 5, John Cusack does such an amazing job!
This is one amazing movie and extremely underrated.
Forgot Cusack in front of L. Jackson, in a King :) Nice
This movie is so awesome. Way too underrated.
Him losing his daughter again was the most heartbreaking scene even he says, You cant take her twice.
LOVED IT!!!!!!!
THANK GOD you watched the theatrical cut......
Thank you for the video đ I love this film and John Cusack was such a cutie back then đ ps: thanks also for the note about the toilet paper. I really never understood what he finds bizarre đ€Ł
Love this movie! I knew it would make a great movie when I read the short story! I gotta start reading his books again. I bought three and haven't finished themđ
He dies in an alternate ending
This is one of the 2 alternate endings, The original ending we saw in cinema was more fitting
He did die in the first version of the film (which at this moment is the only one you get when you buy the movie on Blu-ray), but they changed it in the final theatrical version, and imo that change is a lot better. I actually went to a test screening where they were testing the final theatrical version and enjoyed the film immensely, despite being very skeptical of studio horror at that time.
@@NateW71 No, he burns the room, and dies in it. The movie then jumps to a cemetery where Olin brings Mike's wife some of Mike's stuff that they've recovered.
This movie has four endings, right? In the third ending, Mike survived the fire incident and started his life again with ex-wife Lily. Mike kept the possession box with him and lived happily ever after, and the fourth ending was quite confusing as the manager of the publication house received a courier, which was the first draft of Mike's experience in room 1408.
@@professorcookie1744 Maybe the room split everything into parallel dimensions with infinite possibilities. LOL I hate when they have multiple endings, they should just settle on one and stick to it.
I really enjoyed your reaction to the movie.
Iâd love a prequel that examines some of the past killings in the room
Now those are prequels worth it because it's been enough time. And enough source material.
Still my favorite horror film,
Where did you watch it? Iâve been dying to find the version with that theatrical ending, but I know CZcams, ITunes, etc. donât have it
If you ask me if I would last the hour, I say I wouldn't have lasted a minute. As soon as that damn clock turns on by itself blaring that god awful song, I would have said OH HELL NO! and I'd be gone.
Thanks for doing this underrated classic and have a happy Halloween. đđ€đ§Ą
If you remember , the only way out is the âexpress checkoutâ âŠ.. which is suicide đ
That was the theatrical ending, but in the DVD ending, where Mike dies in the room.
As a homie said in comments, finally someone did a reaction to this.. This is one of my top 5 psychological horror movies! One guy in a room just losing his mind as any of us would've..it's just been perfected by john Cusacks performance.
Great reaction. Definitely one of the better King movie adaptions.
"Does he make it? Plce your bets"
Me. WHICH VERSION ARE YOU WATCHING lol loved your reaction
Great movie.
Great reaction.

I like your content keep up with good reactions videos
2:56 Itâs cause 13 is considered to be an unlucky number
Or it could be, that finally, he believes that ghosts are finally real after speaking to his daughter and capturing it on film
Very interesting movie. First time seeing it. Now I'm going to have to get it on DVD. Love Samuel L Jackson and Tony Shalhoub (TV's Monk).
Thatâs who that was! I knew I recognized him
Good choice. This movie is in my collection since many years.
If you like this, have you ever seen "being John Malkovich"? If not, check it out. đ
Good stuff!
Awesome reaction vid to an awesome movie. Glad you seemed to enjoy it and that you were watching the theatrical cut. Director's cut ending is darker, but just not as satisfying.
One of my favorite horror movies.
This movie has two ending with the second one were has dies. At has funeral the manager tries to hand his wife his things, but she doesn't want it,so he goes to his car listens to the tape with his daughter. Then you see him in the back seat. When they showed this on tv you don't know which ending you would see, but the one you saw was the happier one. CZcams shows both endings.
I've seen both endings and all the crazy things this man has to go through, I prefer the happier ending better.
yup
There were a true story similar to this one
During the 40s, A well dressed man walked into a hotel under a fake name The man never left that room during his entire stay.
News has it that when door service would knock on foord, that man would have lights out. No matter the times.
People- workers said talking sounds would come from his room. A woman 's voice. But no one saw a woman enter the hotel
to visit him.
Remember this was the 40s
The man would call ...to the office...often. He was calm but low speaking
One day a loud noise occured. Help came. The man claimed he fell. The worker bought in bandages.
He didn't want more help
At another time, he was visited by a hotel worker. Sounds of pains were heard
The man was at the inside of door ...He had been shot
The hospital stated the man died before they knew who he was.
Come to find out his ID was fake
An older woman claimed to be his biological mom. But the age she gave was too old for this man.
It appeared off by 10 years
She stated he has been missing
So investigates became puzzled. Why use fake ID? He had money
Some time later, a younger woman called and stated she would like to send flowers and money to support his burial
No one saw this woman in person
She sent it thru mail
People think that was the woman he talked to inside hotel?
No other claims of who this man.was
Not even in 2023
Typo when baliff would knock on his door , the lights were always off. He sat in the dark. Part 2.
Iâm so glad you reacted to this itâs my favorite horror movie
Love that movie
Wonderful film. Quite underrated. I do like this ending the best. There is an alternate ending I feel is less impactful.
looks like king sets everything in hotels...
Iâve met John cusack
I wonder if youâve seen the other endings to this movie since there are like 4 different endings
Oh you watched the other alternative, I love the one where he and the room dies
This isn't the directors cut version. I didn't even know that two versions exist. The directors cut has a different ending (it was the original but was reshot because the test public said it was a "downer"). I suggest you do a reaction, at least to that ending, to complete the story :)

Thank you soooo much for watching the cinematic cut. Although the director's cut adds a lot of great scenes the ending sucks.
I love your blue hair
i love this movie lol. probably my favorite horror movie. most movies don't really scare me but this creeped me out not gonna lie đ also i 99% fell for him being outa the room the first time. i remember thinking.. this cant be it !?! nope not it đ€Ł also in an alternate ending i think he does die. his wife hearing his daughters voice to me was like so hair raising. you can see the utter shock on her face like omg hes not nuts đ€Ł
i feel like going to the room was good for him overall. i know most people died but he seemed better at the end after having witnessed things he knows are pure evil.
he goes from a nihilistic cynic to resolved and you can almost see the positivity in his eyes by the end. life wasn't as cut and dry as he always believed. changed him lol.
It was the see I wasn't crazy look. There was an alternate ending which was the original ending, but was changed last minute to this ending. The original ending he dies in the fire and well Samuel L Jackson may or may not be stuck in 1408 at the end.
Yeah, I AM sort of good at math and I didnÂŽt even understand what he was writing with the =13 until my second viewing of the film! Sometimes IÂŽm just stupid......
This movie freaks me out and makes me so uneasy. đł
I really liked this movie.
Easily the most disturbing movie I've ever experienced.
Holy shit, there are different endings of this movie. I just found out.
Was great movie watched todayđ â€â€â€â€
2:51 "I'm ready" BZZZZZZ! Wrong!
I liked the other ending better, definitely check it out if you havenât. I will say, Iâm not 100% sold on any ending though-more like 89% vs 74%. Heh. Nonetheless, that film is one of my favorite Stephen King adaptations.
Check alternative ending of 1408.
MY 52 YEAR OLD MALE FRIEND MADE IT TO THE THERMOMETER AND HEAT THING BEFORE HE HAD TO BUG OUT AND NOT WATCH ANYMORE...
Can you do the horror classic movie Stigmata
Please
There are two other alternate endings to this movie.
Oh she got that ending hm the one where he dies is better
It was this movie that made me a fan of Cusack. One of my all-time favourites. Not a fan of this edited version though.
I wish 1408 was real i would take the express check out
One of fee that work well IS CHRISTINE

Part 2. Typo above in paragraph
Baliff would knock on that man's hotel.room.. The man kept his lights off. Even at night.
No one knew who shot thst man. True story. Not talking about this movie. I am speaking on a real ...crime similar to this movie
See it was not suicide
It was a homicide.
The man died in hospital.
It was never known who he was
But he was buried with the money the lady mailed
This stiory is a version of the true story
A real man waa shot inside his horel room
No one saw vizitors.
But this was never a suicide
You should watch the alternative ending of 1408 itâs better than the ending you just watched đđđ»đ„đâŸïžđđŸđ„đ đ€Źđ±
G,day Laura
Well that was a pleasant little comedy. I love these so called Scary movies. I think maybe I've seen to much in real life. Loved your reactions , your very funny, I enjoy it
All the best. Bluey.
This is a psychological thriller not much of a horror movie tbh.
đ€đâ€
Iâve seen this movie and itâs weird.
