Mega Man - Wily's Fortress : Stages 3 & 4

- Two stages in one update? Well the reasoning for this is simple... Wily Stage 3 is PATHETICALLY short! I was not about to post a video that was not even 2 minutes long, so I included the final stage, too. Wily Stage 3 is just a quick little stage with a few enemies to deal with. The bulk of it is a thin corridor where water will rush you forward and you need to dodge a bunch of enemies. Nothing special. The boss will either be easy, or difficult, depending on how you make use of Super Arm. What you need to do is save the blocks in this room for the last few spawns of the boss. These ones move so fast that you cannot fight them with anything else and avoid damage. If you use the Super Arm blocks too early, the boss will be a nightmare.
The final stage is quite a tricky one... While it is not so bad at first... eventually you come across some fairly tricky jumps, including one that has the platforms from Guts Man's stage. You need to either take said jump very carefully, or just use the Magnet Beam. After this comes the remaining robot master refights, which should not be all that bad, and finally onto the final boss.
Wily is really not all that bad in this game. You want to try to stay close to him during his first form to have the easiest time dodging his shots. There are a few weapons you can use on this form, but it seems Rolling Cutter works best, though I may be mistaken. His second form is simply a matter of knowing your timing and luring his shots so they will be harmless. Thunder Beam works well here, but once again, something may work better. My experience with the first game is very lacking compared to others in the series since I have not played it all that much. This recording was probably about my third or fourth time through the game.
That is all for the original Mega Man though... Only 9 videos, so the game is very, VERY short, but that is what happens when you are building something to work like an arcade game. Mega Man has evolved in style significantly over the years, and even though the newest games have gone back to the 8-bit style, everything is far more sophisticated than it used to be. I for one hope more Mega Man games will be made as I have enjoyed every single one of them... exceeeept perhaps 8... I really have some negative feelings towards that one, hehe.

Yeah, when I first played this when it came out, I was terrified they would spring to life. It makes sense they're there. Wily's castle should double as a fortress and robot factory.
I suggest tagging this playthrough with "perfect" or "no damage/hit" since you weren't damaged during the run. Excellent play =).
Nice run! I'm experiencing this game for the first time and it feels so good when you actually get through a stage and beat the boss. They don't make game like this anymore. Thanks for the video. Now to complete Wily's castle.

Actually, what I would recommend on wilys first crazy machine form is Fire Mans weapon. It's shield drains the health within seconds.

It's crazy how easy you make this game look. For me the fire man boss seems to send fire balls in such quick succession that's impossible to jump over each fireball as they are just too close together but they are too far apart to jump over more than one. All these boss battles just east away your health. You call it a short game. Damn this game feels just endless to me!
I just beat this for the first time ever and I NEVER EVER get that easy pattern for Flame Man - who takes down most of my health and makes it very difficult to get past this end part. Anyone else?

I just beat the game, your walk through helped with the whole game, especially ice-man, the lava boss, and the last Willy boss. Thanks a lot and it's exciting to know people still have these NES systems laying around.
4:51 - In this first part, firepower is very effective against him.
The Wily Water Purifier Bot was difficult for me because there aren't enough blocks to kill it out right and it's nearly impossible to jump over.
For the final boss just use the flame! For the first bit though, I usually use cut man for the second bit
the fire attack is actually extremmelly powerfull against the first stage of the Wily Machine, taking it down in 3-4 hits; and it work particularry well against the second phase as well, even if it expose you a bit

If you had an NES controller with turbo fire, you can run through the tunnel (Stage 3) constantly firing, potentially acquiring many 1-Ups along the way.
That's my tip from when I last played this game in the late 80s.
@Outshinedsg I suppose I could... I probably will not bother though. I do not always go for no-hit runs... just usually. XD Mega Man 3 and 4 are the ones I just wanted to play more casually in my posted ones.

I always liked fire storm for Wily phase 1 but occasionally, the shield would get stuck on, and you couldn't shoot but had a permanent sheld and couldn't change to elecbeam to finish him.
Ah...from Astro Boy to Mega Man. The Blue Bomber has come far.

yeah, would have been awful if they probably got sued for replicating Astro Boy's design if they had not changed it.
That's how he looked as Rock before being converted into MegaMan lol. So from this point on, we just don't see him with the suit off. His helmet comes off several times and we see his hair, but the suit remains on.
Huh, I never noticed that the health meter of the Wily Stage 3 boss changes color depending on how full it is.
Also, for a memory refresher, what was your problem with Mega Man 8? Surely the lackluster voice acting alone wasn't enough to make you dislike it...was it?

When in the current in stage 3, I just fire a steady stream of shots, killing anything in the way.

The Flame Thrower works best on Wily's cannon. After that, stand underneath the nose of his ship (making sure to move when he moves), and he'll NEVER hit you. That way, you can just keep blasting the crap out of him with Elec Beam until you win.
0:18 - 0:20 really? How do you not get hit there? It reminds me of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when they shoot all the arrows at him and every single one misses.
When useing Super Arm on the Subs if you fire the blocks at the right angles you can beat all the copies with just 4 blocks. Stand all the way to the left and throw the block when one sub leaves its entry. When the block kills the sub the block will proceed on its arcing toss passing the other entries at the top and right. If one sub gets killed imediatly coming out of top and next one comes out of right and dies imediatly by the same block.
I heard that in the first phase of Dr. Wily's machine, you can use the fireman's weapon to destroy the glass part of the Wily machine and then you use elecman's weapon to finish him.

I usually use elec and get 2 hits on first form wily with each shot. I didn't know you could get 3 sometimes with rolling cutter at the right distances, so thanks. Fire Storm's shield part works good on wily 2 because wily's shots can't get you as easily if you are that close and the fire does some good damage

Heh. Capcom wanted to make an Astro Boy game but couldn't get the rights, so they hastily modified the character designs.
By the way, Astro Boy's Japanese name is Mighty Atom. So I have to wonder if the "Mighty" in "Mighty No. 9" is a nod to those roots

Wily is weak to Fire Storm. If you let yourself get hit while you're firing, the "shield" around Mega Man lasts longer and can get in multiple hits.
