The officer will tel him a command letting him know the person is friendly thus letting them pet him don’t do it without asking you’ll get bit and catch a charge.

KAIJU MECHA - I’m sure the dogs are given lunch and dinner. Reminds me a few months ago I went out to get some lunch around noon. I was stopped at a light next to a police SUV that had “K9” on it. The officer had his window down so I casually looked over and he had a large order of McDonald’s fries on his dash. He reached for them grabbed about five fries and ate them. Then he reached and got another 4-5 fries but instead of eating them he held up his hand and this big German Shepard head appeared from the back and ate the fries. He did it once more before the light changed and I thought it was funny they were both snacking on fries.
Maybe initially yes, but these dogs actually feel a sense of pride and reason when they do their jobs. I'm sure you've heard stories about 9/11 when rescue dogs couldn't find people to rescue so they had living people "play dead" so the dogs would feel like they did their jobs.
