You can just turn the whole chimney such that the the pivot point of the daisy wheel is facing you directly (6 oclock) that way- the daisy wheel is always "hanging down" at regardless of the angle of opening of the whole lid - it won't move and your setting will stay put
That doesn't work, it will just move from wherever you have it set. I just got an XL BGE for Christmas as gift. I can't believe what piece of junk that daisy wheel is. Not only that, if I want one that works, I have to pay over $100 for their newly designed one. Wth should I have to do that with a brand new egg. If this wasn't given to me as gift I would take it back. Pretty sure the whole rig was about $2K. Ridiculous.
After having a Big Green Egg for 10 years now the best way to keep the Daisy Wheel from moving is the adjust the screw so that it is facing forwards all the time because if you don't have the screw forwards then you would have to readjust it every time.
You are a genius

Not a bad idea, but in most cases, all you have to do is have the pivot point pointing towards the handle.
Turn the top around with the writing on the backside. This way it will not flip when you open the dome.
