Rainbow Crepe Cake: Behind Tasty

- Here is what you'll need!
RAINBOW CREPE CAKE
Servings: 10-12
INGREDIENTS
6 tablespoons butter, melted
3 cups milk
6 eggs
2¼ cups flour
7 tablespoons sugar
Red food coloring
Orange food coloring
Yellow food coloring
Green food coloring
Blue food coloring
Purple food coloring
6 cups whipped cream
PREPARATION
1. In a bowl, whisk flour and sugar. Mix in eggs, then gradually mix in butter and warm milk, alternating between the two.
2. Divide the batter into 6 bowls with 1 cup of batter in each. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl, and whisk until fully incorporated and the batter is colored.
3. On a nonstick skillet over medium heat, pour ⅓ cup of red crepe batter, and tip the pan to cover the entire bottom surface. 4. Cook the crepe begins to gently bubble and cook through, then flip. Repeat until all of the different color crepe batter is used.
5. Stack crepes on top of each other, starting with purple, then blue, green, yellow, orange, and red, with whipped cream between each layer.
6. Cover the crepe cake in whipped cream, so that it’s fully white on the outside.
7. Slice, and enjoy!

I’ve made it and it was pretty easy, you just have to work fast when you’re cooking them. I put Nutella in between them (which kind of worked spreading wise) and my pan was a bit smaller so it wasn’t as hard to flip them. You just have to know what you’re going into lol

When I first saw Tasty's videos, I thought they were all... Idk, perfect, flawless and not something I'd watch to get a lot of entertainment. But watching these I'm completely delighted at how personable, and... Human they all are. They make mistakes just like we do, and that makes this so much more enjoyable because the things they try to make aren't things they've done a thousand times before, but it's as much a new experience for them as it is for us, and I really enjoy that aspect of it.

i have this theory: ppl who like to cook, garden, do arts and crafts, makeup, diy, carpentry,... basically anything that involves being creative with their hands are the most laid back and easy going ppl on earth. Just watching videos with them you get all these chill vibes. Plus they tend to be nice as well. The ones that go "hey you look cold and hungry, here's a muffin". of course there are also those who'll just eat the muffin right in front of you. But they'll do it in a chill and laid back manner
My friend and I made this, and let me tell you, the process is so hard but when you see the rainbow when you cut it.. Oh my gosh it’s so rewarding 😂😂

I would’ve put it in the fridge before taking the shot were you had to cut the piece so the cream would stick it together better
The cream would deflate though and if it was in the freezer it would be too hard

I love crepes. I grew up in Belgium and France and crepes are BIG there. We have lower edged pans that way you can flip them, and when you flip it successfully the satisfaction is AMAZING

Crepes and Dutch pancakes aren’t the same. Crepes are French and are a lot thinner and bigger than the usual Dutch pancake. Crepes are made with a small amount of batter and Dutch pancakes have a lot of batter.

CREPES AND DUTCH PANCAKES ARE NOT THE SAME
Dutch pancakes are much thicker than crepes, not like the american ones but crepes are supposed to be really really thin so they usually spread out a small amount of batter over the whole pan, and when making dutch pancakes you just fill the whole pan with batter without really spreading it out so they're like 10 times thicker haha
