    Very thorough review and useful comprehensive take-down tutorial. Would have been nice to point out areas that require correct lubrification compatible with airguns such as silicone grease and silicone chamber lube. Have the exact same from KWC. Will soon tackle adding some wood grips for extra realism as you have very well done also. Nice work, mate.

    I bought some walnut wood grips for my KWC P08 Luger from ebay...I read somewhere they come from india and are the same ones which ever store you get them...certainly the advertising pics are the same...But man, they are hard work to get to fit...and the lugs at the top where they slot into the gun are too low for the KWC so they have to be cut off meaning you have to figure some other method of getting them to stick at the top...Also they are a millimetre short at the bottom in some areas and the screw doesn't align perfectly...filing and grinding them out is also laborious as you have to do it bit by bit and then repositioning to make sure you are hitting the right area or not cutting through the wood...Took me a few hours to get one fitted and still have to figure a way to get the lugs at the top in or even glue the whole grip to the gun might be an option if you don't mind it being that way...Good luck fellas but don't take it lightly!

    Any help or advice on how to install the wooden grips?
    I don’t have any tabs at the top of mine for them to slot into the frame.
    And how much wood do you need to remove?
    And what tools would you recommend, just sand paper and a file?
    (Any photos of what the inside of the grips look like to give a rough idea would be much appreciated!)
    Also when I removed the grips, to check the frame and such, when reinstalling the screws I don’t know how as this hasn’t happened before but I managed to cross thread and the screws no longer sit flush.
    I donno wether to try and find other screws like them that are self tapping to use.
    Also I’ve heard of people using bluing pens to cover up the markings?
    They are pretty bright.
    Also of people say the paint KWC uses is crap (the 1911s I’ve seen have chipped easy.)
    Would love a blued version!
    Or a parkerised one.

    • @ukairgunner7459
      @ukairgunner7459  Před 7 lety +1

      Interstellar Lapis & the CCCP Authentic grips wouldn't fit as they come. You have to remove some of the material on the inside surface in order for them to fit flush. This is due to the extra room needed to house the CO2 cartridge in the magazine.

    • @interstellarlapisthecccp4946
      @interstellarlapisthecccp4946 Před 7 lety +1

      makes sense. I could probably cut out some rudimentary grips from wood and sand them down but I doubt I'd be able to get the same finish as a real grip. Probably best to get real ones and make adjustments.

    I have the KWC 1911 and this KWC P08 luger, the Gun is okay... what i don't like is the coating and the color. It's not the color and the finish of the original luger. While the 1911's finish is really close to the original 1911A1 especially when it's weathered. I just don't understand. It's been made by the same company. I mean the broom handle's finish is also close to the real steel version of it. Why is the luger's finish different.

    • @ukairgunner7459
      @ukairgunner7459  Před 7 lety

      Mr. Bread , thanks for your comment. It's a good point, the original was more of a silvery grey, as you say. I don't know why KWC decided to paint it black.
      I have tried rubbing down the whole thing gently with iron wool, which reduces the intensity of the black and gives a more grey finish. Coupled with the bare metal edges gives it a more realistic appearance.

    Hi, great video! Two questions please:
    1. Which one you think is better: this KWC or Umarex P08 Blowback? I have heard that Umarex one has more fps.
    2. What is needed to be done to make real wood grips fit? Is it lots of work?

    • @ukairgunner7459
      @ukairgunner7459  Před 7 lety

      Hi Morris Zachrisson ,
      1. The Umarex P.08 is made by KWC and distributed by Umarex and has more white writing on it; they're the same gun. That is why I went for the KWC one. Make sure you don't get the old Umarex P.08 which is non-blowback.
      2. When you get the wood grips, they wouldn't sit flush, so you have to use a dremel tool to remove some of the material on the inside surface of the grips where the frame has been enlarged to accommodate the CO2 cartridge. Its a bit of work, but its worth it!
      Hope this is helpful!

    • @morriszachrisson8359
      @morriszachrisson8359 Před 7 lety

      Thank you for your answer.
      Two moments.
      1. Umarex P08 has 2 variants. And I mean the blowback one. One for US and one for Europe. The US one has those ugly warnig markings on the right side and white P08 on the left side. But the one for Europe has only white marking P08 on the left side and nothing on the right sight, while the KWC one has KWC made in Taiwan and on the left side .177 F or something. So the Europe Umarex has less markings.
      2. So this replica grips does not have any outgrowths to be clicked into the frame? And I do not need to make these outgrowths on the wood ones?
      Thank you.

    • @ukairgunner7459
      @ukairgunner7459  Před 7 lety

      That Shooting Guy The finish is Jet Black, not particularly realistic. Yes you can get it to look more metallic by rubbing it down with iron wool to start revealing bare metal.
      If your brave enough, you could take it completely down to the bare metal which would tarnish over time, and should provide a Gun Metal finish. But I'm not entirely sure how it would come out.

    I want to buy one of these; is the gun made fully of steel? I plan to blue it, but as I have discovered with other similar guns it's very difficult to get a proper coat applied unless you strip everything down then heat it up with a blowtorch. Are there any little parts on there made of metals which might melt under the torch (like Zinc, for example)? Also, I don't know if you've ever held a real Luger before, but does it have a good weight and sturdiness to it? (should be around 2 pounds)

    • @ukairgunner7459
      @ukairgunner7459  Před 6 lety

      Sax and Phone It’s weighs about 1.84 pounds, which is a little less than a real one, but not by much. I’m afraid the phrase I used, “real steel” was a slip of the tongue (watching too many Hickok45 videos!). It’s not steel, but some sort of alloy, not sure what’s in it. Most of the components are pretty sturdy, one thing to check is the barrel which can be a little loose. Hope this helps!

    • @saxandphone6440
      @saxandphone6440 Před 6 lety

      I know that the gun isn't made of gun quality steel; typically airsoft guns are made of a variety of scraps melted down into what is commonly referred to as 'pot metal'. I just want to be sure that it's not made of Zinc or Nickel so that it doesn't melt under a blowtorch.

      Hank the Hog It's not possible to load this airgun with pellets, they would simply jam in the magazine.
