Video Description:
Most private Highschools in the world are characterized by extremely high academic and co-curricular standards. They really groom their students for excellence! This is also why they are reasonably more expensive than regular, public high schools. The most expensive private highschool in the world: Institut Le Rosey really is the stuff of dreams! Located in Rolle, Switzerland this school was founded in 1880 and is one of the oldest schools to ever exist in Switzerland.

I attend a pretty good private school in England so Iâm not completely against private education but honestly this school is justâŠnot school-like.

I go to quite a prestigious american boarding school and I completely agree.
Believe me, my sister is a senior at Le Rosey now, she has done way too much work but she loved the international envorinment
Itâs actually a VERY good school and itâs very prestigious. đ
@@nathilomax9457 Which one?
I mean come to think of it, its expensive because of the amenities, extracurricular activities and such. Whatâs good here is they do not only focus on academics but there are variety of things (e.g. horseriding, fencing etc) to do that helps a kid to improve themselves more as a person and hone their abilities and talents too. Its got a holistic approach which is really good aside from having âconnectionsâ and the perks. Learning should be fun and this school surely provides it.
Learning comes at a cost
@@TapasMog It doesn't have to
Horse riding and all sports and etc...are also done in my areas Army school in India.
Near my house their is a state army school and those students are giving srmy like physical students from 7th grade to 12th grade, fees is lowest than any private school lol the personality of those students is god level and environment is best. Every high school should have this
I live here but this guy was over egsasuraying
@@seiyaseto5451 no he is not bro cuz I study there and this it true. If u do not believe me I can send you real photos of that school. It is amazing and strict
I honestly feel it's not the academic part the parents enroll their kids here, it's for billionaires so they already have a family business to run, they just don't want their kids to bond with common folk.
Lol
More or less. $440k is cheap when you think about the financial penalties of a Billionaire's kid eventually marrying someone in my income bracket, a process where inherited wealth would evaporate in 8 generations or so.
Which makes perfect sense
I looked through the alumni list and it is astoundingly without ANYONE of any academic excellence. It's all "son of rich guy" or "daughter of a celeb B". Looks like this is a school where rich folks throw their kids in to make sure they don't get in major international trouble and then forget about them.
That is very true. The majority of wealthy parents go out of their way to make sure their kids bond with people on the same social-economic level as them, or above. It may not always be out of snobbery, as they may think that people to whom money is not a problem will develop a more sincere friendship with each other.
To be honest, thereâs not much on here that you couldnât do for a quarter of the price at a normal private school. The only real appeal is privacy-they donât need to leave the school to do any of these activities-and making connections. Rich people are basically just sending their kids here to make friends with other rich people. Itâs not about the school.
ukr
You are damn right
yeah i agree, we could make public school similar to this, just not as fancy. But end the horseback riding because its bad for the horses' backs.
If youâre a British kid watching this and wishing you could go to a school like this: most UK private schools are charities and give out millions of ÂŁs worth of bursaries each year. If youâre smart enough to get in (which isnât actually that hard, they care more about your personality and interests), you can apply to have it all funded. Itâs worth doing.
Source: I work at one of the top private boys schools and Iâm the one who gives out these bursaries. I spent ÂŁ4m this year
I'm British please kindly give me detailed information for how to get a bursary pleaseeĂšeđâ€đ
Iâve applied for a bursary for a private school in my area and Iâm praying I can get in, the grade requirements are pretty easy for me, and I have been offered a place, itâs just the bursary awards I am waiting for, I really want to be able to go
First you need to choose which schools you are applying to, as they may have different requirements and processes, you should find out on their website
Can confirm! Iâm a student who was awarded an academic bursary and it honestly wasnât difficult. Lots of people forget about bursaries!
@@Mia-fg2ik I'm so happy for you! Thanks for letting us know. Get the best education possible and make the world a better place.
My brother's went, was horrible, said a bunch of the students would just drink alcohol, and the bullying problem was a huge issue, where they'd be constantly in fights because of it.
Basically the richest would have a gang that harrased all the other students and the rest either had to paly along or get beaten.
They even had to barricade the doors because the older students kept trying to come in to beat them up. And the teachers, staff, prefects ect, would play along with this social structure and in no way intervine to help
Not to mention they had their items stolen by staff there.
My parents ended up taking them away early.
Dayum
This sounds alot like the plot of the Boys Over Flowers Series which is pretty sad that they have so much money and get away with pretty much anything they want

update: SHEâS ACCEPTED, SHE WILL BE STARTING SCHOOL ON OCTOBER :D
edit: ok so hereâs an update. sheâs been going for more than a year now. she said theyâre stricter than normal schools (obv), youâre forced to go to multiple trips and some of them arenât necessarily fun, and you get teased if you ride on anything other than first class seats on transportation (usually Emirates planes) and also, the winter terms are the best because thatâs when they get to ski. and yes, the money her family pays is absolutely unrealâŠ

yall in the comments forgot like half of the video, this is not a high school for normal people, this is a high school for the richest people, the elite, it's not about education or getting a diploma, it's about the connections and prestige. ofc it looks like a scam for us, but it is really for someone THAT rich?
thatâs nice and all but iâll stick with my $0 a year public school. it builds character.

@@briannaknight2219 yep its payed through the government, I mean there are school taxes for the area you live in but it is still free education

Just imagine if most governments and patrons could put their funding (our taxes) more into education, arts, healthcare, etc. Most pre-teens, teens, and pre-adults would absolutely love to go to school. And enjoy every minute of it! Sadly, that is not our reality.
Public or private schooling should be fully accessible to everyone. Especially people who could not earn their HS diploma at first.
Private school, my friend, is just another form of business. And businesses put profits first. They suck up to you only for your money
This is just ignorant . Iâm a 19 year veteran Public school teacher and most students and most parents could not care less about their education .
@Laura Mcclain I agree. You have a valid comment. I simply wrote this thought thinking of the young people I've met along the way who had waited weeks or months (sometimes they planned it for years with their parents and counselors) to get an answer from their school of choice and weren't accepted. Also, others who applied for a scholarship were denied. They did do a part-time job while studying and today are doing better.
My cousin who has two nationalities and has four languages in her; she applied to prestigious college to study psychology. She was denied entry. She did try smaller community based colleges in MA and graduated in 2018.
Thank you for being an inspiration and a column of knowledge. I hope you have a great week Laura!
That's a fantasy. School should be just school. And no high schooler would ever love every minute of school.
how should PRIVATE schooling be fully accessible to everyone, exactly? it's a _private_ school, the very word "private" inherently means that it absolutely isn't accessible to everyone. if you don't want to go to a free public school, _then_ you _choose_ to pay for the services of a private school.
what _should_ be fully accessible to everyone is good public school education
For those that didnât know the thumbnail is Florida State University. Not the school.

The cover is florida state university, idk why they didnât just use the real high school đ€·đœââïž
I really was hoping someone would confirm this. I saw the cover and was thinking no that can't be FSU, what are the odds? lol
yeah i saw it was FSU and was very confused
I've been to a state and private school in England. I'm glad attended both because it made me into who I am today. I saw both sides, both very different worlds. I would say if you want success the private school is a better choice if you can afford it, but don't go broke sending your kid to one. One thing I would say is that at the private school people did not care about house, cars, designer brands or money, it was more about skills, hobbies and grades. When I attended the state school I feel as though people were much more conscious about these things. These days you have selective/free grammar schools, probably the best choice. With these fee paying schools and boarding schools, it is a class thing, friends and connections. People think that in a democracy everybody is equal this is not the case. Your monarchy, aristocracy and nobility got replaced with another ruling elite of the merchants, industrialists and banking class. They just overthrew the former and caused revolutions in the name of the "people".
damn..no words...cuz true
There was a study done around our area about public versus private schools. It seems, they all equal out when it came down to cost per student per year. One of the lowest testing score school district actually had one of the highest cost per students.
$120,000 a year and the acceptance rate to a top tier college is only 30%. Money doesnât always buy the best of things apparently
lots of people from this school day often pursue careers in other academics, such as music, or some people are royalty so no such diploma is needed
1:45 it says it prides itself on being the oldest boarding school in the world?! In the UK this would considered one of the newer boarding schools.
The Kings School in Canterbury is the oldest, it was founded in AD 597, 1300 years before this place. You can tell this was written by an American.

Lots of money, and position, gets you exposure to schools like this, with wonderful perks, and friends from high places. These connections are everything in the future, concerning positions, business and opportunities. These are the people, and others like them, who end up running the business end of the world. Would love to see some high end education experiences for ordinary people, and what that might produce. I am sure there are lots of examples of how this might work, and the impact it might have on the world at large.
Good comment. I despise the idea of billionaires and think being the child of one would be a nightmare (for me anyway), but even as an old, very successful woman, I'm still envious of the education those kids are getting.
High end education for ordinary folks can open doors to high paying job opportunities and career advancement.
My school was older than this schools . Penang Free School in Penang, Malaysia established 1816
Awesome!
So why did yâall use Florida State University as the thumbnail picture? đ
Florida State University is a beautiful campus for a public school
Imagine you study in a school where student study less always show off whats their parents give them, how expensive their school supplies are đđ.also student makes Friends according their family class..... If you are rich but not as much as others i'm sure that student life ia hell in here
Bull shit I attend school and itâs just normal kids who donât even think of money cause they know they donât have to
I don't think students in this status will be showing off to each other like that. Lol. That's cringe. Their name and status will speak volume for themselves. And "study less" won't even apply here. 400 students and 150 teachers, even if you don't want to learn the teachers will make sure you do. And you realize that if they are making connection it doesn't only equate to noble to noble. For example you're not rich on their level but have brain and others have power in industry you want to be in for the future, that will be win win too.
It's funny how people think students in this class will make fuss about school supplies/clothes. All off them has that. Their competition and expectation is in different level.
@@nooneseriously22 Good comment. If a kid seems to be the type who feels the need to brag about his parents' money, he doesn't get into Rosey.
â@@nooneseriously22 i def agree lol these things they mentioned prob happens to normal school bruh or movies/dramas...idt its that bad
I do not get the point of this school.
I attend one of the highest ranking public schools in the US and we get a top tier education at (relatively) low prices for what we get (15k school taxes). There is no reason to pay this unless you want your kids to mingle among the elite to form connections; not to mention with good public schools you can actually sleep in your own bed and have life outside of campus
Or if you want your child to have the best possible time in their youth. Think Hogwarts in Harry Potter. Wouldn't you love to go there. Same thing. Plus people spend 10 million dollars on supercars, so why not this.
