The radio geek reviews the Sangean MMR-88 Emergency Weather Radio that he got as a Christmas gift. It's a nice little radio with big sound that is well made.
Thanks for the great review of the Sangean MMR-88, I just bought one of these, looks like a good radio. I am going to be running a AM radio range extender antenna from inside the house out to the top of my shops roof about 32 feet off of the ground. the wire used will have about 5 coils looped and taped to hold the loops in place about 6 inches in diameter, so that the loop would be put over the radio's body/ internal antenna area with the end of the wire going back outside to a ground rod. this should provide a excellent AM signal for this portable. I am in a rural area.
Yours looks like the big brother to the one I just made a video about recently. The digital tuning, memories, a larger solar cell, rubber bumpers, a possibly larger speaker and headphone jack are all features mine lacks. Very thorough review - thanks for sharing!
Vintage Electronics Geek hello, the manual says that the radio will play for 10 hours on the 850mAH battery. The reception is very good on this radio. It's well made and I think that Sangean did a nice job on this one. Thanks for stopping by.
If I remember correctly, you plug a USB cable into the radio and your phone, then turn the crank to charge the phone. Keep cranking to charge the phone. This is for emergency charging to get enough power to make a call. Good luck. 👍
Hey, I think I need help troubleshooting. I got this radio on my birthday, and when I put it on the weather band, it doesn't go off the weather band when I hit the "band" button. Any tips?
It should cycle through the bands when you press the band button. Do the other buttons work? Did you try cycling power off and then back on. I have not seen that issue with my radio.

What's the duration of the battery? How good is the reception? Nice of your boy to get you a cool radio! :) ~Jack, VEG

@@TheRadiogeek Right now, the radio isn't turning on at all. I've ordered a new battery. I'll update.
How about USB charging?
The fact that you got this for christmas, is probaly not why I stopped here.
Without charging 230Volt, 12v car , AA,AAA = big bulshit only for a city.
