Nein für den M50 passt der Funk nicht. Dort ist leider kein Platz.
Dank der Flügelschrauben kann der Funk ohne Werkzeuge montiert und demontiert werden und ist daher Ladung => keine ABE, keine Eintragung nötig. 😉

Had a test drive of the i4 e-Drive 40 yesterday, very much liked it with a potential plan to add to our i3 and already longing to get this to improve it right away. Upmost respect for your work with these designs after having an i3 with the charge flap and rear trunk extension that I emailed you about just a few months ago which you were incredibly helpful with. Thank you for these products and your dedicated work Wolfgang!

Ich fahre immer noch meinen i3 - selbstverständlich mit deiner Kofferraumerweiterung- und sollten wir uns mal vergrößern wollen von Platz und Reichweite her und den 330e mit Verbrenner eintauschen, weiß ich was und wo ich bestelle. Thank you. Honestly we have not yet thought about external warehouses. We like to run the business with a small overhead only. So possible savings in shipping costs could be consumed by additional warehouse costs and other costs for handling, registration, accounting and so on.
Danke für die Erklärung. Werde ich auf jeden Fall bestellen. Aber vom nachdrücken der Motorhaube zum Schluss ratet BMW explizit ab in der Bedienungsanleitung. Dort heißt es unter dem Kapitel der Frontklappe in einem Hinweis:
Die Frontklappe muss beim Schließen beid- seitig einrasten. Nachdrücken kann die Frontklappe beschädigen. Es besteht die Ge- fahr von Sachschäden. Die Frontklappe er- neut öffnen und mit Schwung schließen. Nachdrücken vermeiden.
Ich fände es gut, wenn ihr den Schluss entweder rausschneidet oder noch besser es nochmal zeigen, wie die Motorhaube richtig geschlossen werden soll (mit Schwung allein einrasten)
Danke für den Hinweis. Leider ist da ja jedes Fahrzeug etwas verschieden und ich wusste nichts von diesem Hinweis. Du hast Recht, dass die Fronthaube beim i4 beim zufallen lassen von selbst schließt. Ich wollte für das Video aber vermeiden, dass ich hier einfach die Haube "zuknalle"
Good product! I just think the inlay mat should be included by default ;) I have also a question: can the cargo get wet if the frunk is used without the factory 'engine' cover?
Hi Victor. If you check our shop you will find that the rubber inlay mat is already the standard option but we still give the customer the choice.
According to our tests in the power washing station and the long time testing our Frunk will stay clean and dry even without the standard cover. The front compartment of the BMW i4 is well sealed against water and dirt.

Looks great, my only question: during routine servicing will this item need to be removed by the mechanic for access?
Hi, this depends on the work that needs to be done. But we recommend to remove the frunk before a service appointments to avoid unnecessary confusion and questions.
I was wondering if the frunk has any negative effect on cooling the battery or other stuff in the car. In the front of the car are some adjustible airvents for cooling.
Nope. The only time when the cooling is really needed is DC fast charging and there are no issues to be expected.
Servus, habt ihr auch vor ggf. den Frunk noch zu erweitern, dass er alles abdeckt wie die Originale Abdeckung?

da das Teil zu groß für einen normalen Versand werden würde, nein. Aber ich habe schon Bilder von Kunden erhalten, die die originale Abdeckung entsprechend ausgeschnitten haben.
Welchen Kunststoff verwendet ihr? Ich frage wegen der Langzeithaltbarkeit.
Wir verwendeten selbstverlöschendes, recyceltes PC/ABS
Nice product, what are the measurements of the "loading box" where you can keep stuff and how much weight can you put into the box?
Hi measurements are hard to tell because the shape is not a box design and everything is sloped. The frunk will give your about 35 liters of additional space. Regarding weight I cannot give you a finite number but we did our tests with about 10 kg weight and were not able to detect any motion. So I don't worry about the weight as long as you dont load it with bricks ;-)

Korrekt. Es sind rund 40 Liter nutzbares Volumen.
Will something like that be available for the Ix1 too?
I have not checked the iX1 in person yet.
But from what I have seen on youtube I dont think there will be much space left for the all wheel drive version and if I am correct the single motor version will be FWD. So the chances are high that neither this version will have much space left.
Sieht gut aus und ergänzt letztendlich das, was leider allen deutschen Herstellern fehlt! Ich hätte nur Sorge, dass sich so ein großes Kunststoffteil bei Fahrzeugbewegungen (z.B. auf Querfugen oder Kopfsteinpflaster) akustisch deutlich bemerkbar macht.
Der Funk ist an allen Auflagepunkte mit EPDM Schaumstoff abgefangen und daher nicht zu bemerken.
Unser iX3 Frunk ist seit über einem Jahr im Markt und auch hier hatten wir bis heute noch keine Feedback zu Geräuschen. Auch unsere Tests waren unauffällig.

nicht dass ich wüsste. Wir haben den Frunk mittlerweile auch direkt an BMW Händler geliefert ;-)
How does this deal with heat? For the items inside the storage and whether if it interfere with cooling of motor and component?
There wont be any issues. If you have the possibility check the M50 and see how much space is left there.
The Frunk itself is made of PC/ABS which can withstand temperatures over 100° C easily. Even though this temperature will never be reached even closely we wanted to stay on the safe side.

Plant ihr so einen Frunk auch für den iX3. Also das man dort am Ende auch die Abdeckung draufstecken kann.
Beim iX3 müssten wir zu stark in das Design und damit das Werkzeug eingreifen. Das würde dann praktisch einen Neuinvest bedeuten. Bis auf die Optik bietet der Deckel aber keinen Vorteil. Da die Fronthaube sehr gut abgedichtet ist, bleibt der Funk auch ohne Deckel sauber und trocken.
Can you open the original lid to access the frunk at the end?
Yes you can kind of lift it but it is not like a frunk lid.

Does this fit a RHD i4 with M-Sport package?
Yes, it will fit cars with M-Sport package. Only if you have the adaptive M-Sport suspension you will need our M-Sport version of the frunk.

Hat dieser Frunk Einfluss auf meine Fahrzeuggarantie oder Versicherung? Hat es eine Zulassung, ähnlich anderer Tuningteilen wie Fahrwerk etc.?
Der TÜV sagt dazu:
der Frunk ist Ladung, da er ohne Werkzeuge ein und ausgebaut werden kann.
Ich habe das ganze Thema ABE / Eintragung usw. mit den hiesigen TÜV diskutiert und dann das Befestigungskonzept so umgesetzt wie mir angeraten wurde. Daher keine Eintragung, ABE oder sonstiges nötig.
Im Falle eines Unfalls, wird maximal die Ladung im Frunk an die Stelle bewegt wohin sich ansonsten ein über 100 kg schwerer Verbrennungsmotor oder beim BMW i4 M50 die vordere E-Maschine bewegen würden, also auch hier alles gut.
Was der Service sagt hängt immer vom Service ab. Ich empfehle den Frunk vor einem Termin beim Service raus zu nehmen. Das erspart ggf. Fragen. Grundsätzlich trifft aber auch da zu, dass es Ladung ist und diese hat den Service nicht zu interessieren.

Yes we ship to the US but as we are an online shop there are no stores or local dealers in any country.
I like the frunk, and I have been spreading the word around as much as possible, but the price is too expensive for what is effectively a piece of trimmed thermo-formed plastic, and 2 clips.
I understand that you have to make back the dev costs, but 256 euro delivered to the UK is too much for a lot of people, just to keep cables in etc. A more realistic price of say 100 to 150 euro would get a lot more sales.
For a lot of people our prices are interesting and we don't argue about them.
It is hard to see the whole picture and estimate the total related costs for a project, logistics and running a company itself from outside.
@@WOKEBY I understand it’s not easy. Just that I’ve been looking forward to the i4 frunk for months, and now cannot justify the cost for the small amount of extra space.
