- G’DAY OWFsquad and welcome to my 52nd flight in 2019! On 3rd December, I flew China Airlines from Hong Kong to Taipei, the aircraft was operated by Boeing 747.
I purchased an economy ticket, but paid HKD140 to upgrade to a business class seat in the upper deck, which was sold and advertised as economy plus.
There are over 32 daily flights one way between the cities; China Airlines, Cathay Pacific and EVA Air are the predominant airlines.

I have seated in the CI A330 Business Class before , but I personally think the 747 Business class is more gorgeous than the A330 one . (I didn't film the landing because I was asleep lol)

Pan Am 😍747-100🤯the oldest plane that I've flown on I believe was a Thai Oriental B747-200. The good old days when BA flew to Perth, Adelaide and many other Australian cities... that's wonderful you have 14 doggies in Phuket👍🏻I hope to visit there soon!
I first flew China Airline in 1968. They were great then.
Wow what an interesting concept of selling the upper deck as an upgrade to Economy passengers, that was so cool lm impressed. So glad you got to fly on Queen of the skies, so many memories for me. Absolutely loved this review👍
Totally, short haul on a long haul config'ed aircraft is the best! That's something Adelaide doesn't have !!
I remember as a kid flying on a 747.There was no business class in the upper deck, it was a free-for-all, basically people just partying like crazy up there. That was back in the day when you could smoke cigarettes up there lol. That was way before you were born Jayden! Great video of something so iconic!❤️👍✈️
Wow free-for-all 😍 I’ve seen plenty of 747 pictures from the past and the upper deck looked like it used to be a restaurant or a real bar (not like the ones on Emirates). Time has changed, but 747 is still very iconic and different to other planes 😍✈️ Thanks Diane :)
One World Flyer yes it was a real bar and everybody was partying like crazy! And you could fly economy and still go to the second deck, not true these days. Anyway that’s how it was with US carriers.

Gday OWF , squad member 747-400428 very excited to be reporting in on this momentous review, a huge thank you for this very special review of the mighty queen of the skies , the incredible 747-400 . This review I watched on the big screen, epic take off role and great sounds ! Brilliant you could get such great business class seats at such a great price, this trip I will do in March just so I can do the same flight ! And I've heard Taipei is spectacular to visit ! Seats looked great, old school, but perfectly excellent, meal, looked delish. Great to hear flight crew were great, OWF , you nailed this review, brilliant work, thank you , also one more thing, wing and landing footage captured amazingly, thanks for all your epic work on this review ! Thanks for the 747 report. I will be flying to Taipei in a month on the Queen. I was intrigued by their issuance of knee scratchers along with the earphones. I thought maybe it was some kind of spa themed flight or something. Haha. On a second listen, it's only my copy of the SCMP coming with the earphones. Oh well.... 🤣🤣

Great video as always, really enjoyed it :) what a great way to fly in the upper deck of the queen of the skies :) paying an economy fare for it, makes it even better. Also nice to catch the skyteam livery, which still is one of my favorite special liveries out there!
The seat and IFE is (obviously) outdated, but perfectly fine for this short flight.
Wasn’t expecting a hot meal either, looks pretty good as well :)

Always good to fly with a new airline, and even better when it`s on the Queen! My last flight on the B747-400 was with BA who currently has the biggest fleet of these aircraft. It was also on the upper deck LHR-HKG and was a great flight. Sadly these remaining 32 aircraft in service with BA are all to be phased out by early 2024 and will be replaced with the B777-9. How come business class are plastic cup the bowl and food tray . lol fork and spoon too omg wow , wow yum yum the chicken rice looks good haha ohhhh my god i so miss the square window panel nowadays it's oval in shape and isn't that nice to view out the window's haha lol . Thank you dude for making great videos / vlogs it always make my days better haha wow the seat's looks so comfy i think if i sat on it im gone as in i be sleeping for a very long time haha .
it's economy class ticket, service, meal but business class seat. So it was a treat nonetheless! yep those square windows are becoming rare, though some 737 still have them, newer ones have softer/rounder edges. Thanks Adam!

Good afternoon and 你好 from the United States, Jayden. This is Guerry again, and for whatever reason, I especially enjoyed this review of China Airlines. Even thought it was a short flight, I was still very impressed with all you revealed. As you made it to your flight, I could not turn away from background of Hong Kong airport. I remain impressed by how clean and neat your home town keeps it, especially given its size. The only exceptions are in the private lounges you have videoed in the past, in which private companies maintain them. Although this might seem trivial, I am tired of having to wait for flights in areas having old newspapers and other trash left by others.
This is the first flight review I have seen featuring China Airlines. If your experience is the carrier’s norm, I am adding it as a option for traveling to east Asia. As with Hong Kong airport, the cleanliness and maintenance of this aircraft is among the best I have seen you review. Unlike long haul flights that generally have an extended break which enables maintenance crews to clean cabins, this aircraft has numerous daily flights with tight turnaround times. Nevertheless, it remains so clean. The only hints of age are the dated IFE’s and business class seats, which causes me to conclude that China Airlines will soon be dropping it from its fleet. I have always contended that the sure sign of a quality airline is how nice their coat hooks are (Ha… Ha…). Most definitely, this aircraft is a sharp contrast to what you last posted about Virgin Australia’s flight to Melbourne.
I have had enough experience flying on a 747 to know that the upper deck is not my favorite place to sit. The added storage in the space between the window and seat is a nice feature. But it prevents me from being able to easily view out the window, which is my favorite inflight activity. By all means, you are correct when it comes to the view passengers have in the first few rows of the bottom deck. I was able to enjoy such a seat on a charter flight that was configured with a single class. I sat in seat 2A, which provided somewhat of a forward view, which made takeoffs and landings much more exciting to watch in the days before exterior cameras.
Your cut to Hong Kong’s Disneyland reminded me of the several trips I have made to our Disney World in Orlando, Florida (USA). I HIGHLY recommend you make the trip (a 3 day package will do for an initial trip) with a group of friends, but most certainly do it when the kids are in school - THIS IS A MUST! Also, stay at one of the hotels inside of the park. There is no denying that your trip will be expensive. But I can guarantee that the cost is well worth how relaxed and refreshed you will be at the end of your vacation. If you want to know why I included the restrictions, please let me know and I will gladly explain myself.

After your previous comments, I started to pay a little more attention to the airport cleanliness. You're right, I'm very lucky to have HKG as my home airport. There's always one staff member in the toilet to make sure everything is clean and useable.
The aircraft is indeed pretty clean considering it's an old plane. Kudos to whoever designed this seat! The coat hooks are so visible. Also, unlike the ones you normally see in economy, you can actually hang your jacket!
Agree with the not-so-good window view on the upper deck. The best wing view is located just below where I sat I guess! I regret not visiting Orlando during my Miami visit!! But I'm glad that I went down to Key West, very beautiful there and small planes landing and takeoff occasionally! I'll definitely visit Orlando Disney when I have more budgets haha!!

One World Flyer was so young that time i remember was when we disembarked using stairs. Also the terminal was old but very nostalgic. Too many 747s and even those tristars and DC10s. Actually it was May 1988. And i liked HK that time especially Ocean Park and taking the old trams lol. At least u are based in Hk, a disneyland for avgeeks like us :)

Since a good number of people travel with tablets and laptops these days, perhaps airlines think they can just let the passengers DIY as far as entertainment goes.
They'd like to save money any way they can. IFE costs a lot of money to maintain I suspect. I'd rather my in-flight safety specialists be paid a civilized salary than to have a bells and whistles screen in my seat. But that's just me...
True, airlines have to pay for every movie and shows that a passenger views. And Tv is really heavy and burn a lot of fuel when the plane flies. So short haul planes especially, you don’t see them with Tv that often now. Besides, the plane is retiring so China Airlines didn’t waste money on refurbishing them :) Thanks for watching!

You're finally flying a skyteam airline! Didn't know HKG-TPE is the busiest international air route, always thought it was SIN-KUL. And for hkd140, it seems very worth it to upgrade to business class
Thanks a lot for watching Lucas! SIN-KUL might be busier in terms of aircraft movement but with number of passengers, it’s HKG-TPE because most aircraft are wide bodies. Most aircraft between SIN-KUL are 737 and 320, though there are some wide bodies with SQ

Nice video, that’s really cheap for a business class upgrade. What made you choose China airlines, was it the cheapest? There are plenty of flight in and out of Hongkong to Taiwan like Eva air or Hong Kong airlines

One World Flyer mine was only 2 years ago! That was when I first started watching your channel, because I wanted to know how it was to fly. It was a Qantas 747 flight from Sydney to Hong Kong. Damn, it’s been two years already?! I still really like your videos, I’m going back to HongKong again on the 31st of December, it’ll be an A330 Qantas flight!

Upper deck was economy class but business seats. Airlines do funny things like this one when they use long haul aircraft on short haul flights. My Qantas flight that I just uploaded today for example, premium seats but economy food and service :)
@@JaydenWong that IS weird for sure. sadly ive never had the chance to get business class seats but only pay economy.. lol be a nice treat one day if ever i did.. lol stay safe and happy travels. were almost back to normal here in oz :)
