You have to practice on improvisation on ragas..With perfect taal and swaras,you can imrovise any song and ragas,this will improve your thinking ability in music.

Take the particular ragas and practice their pre written taans first. Then try to create the taans with low speed. But your taans should fit in the raga's properties. Like if we take an example of Raag Bhup taans, taans in this raga should be created only between sa ra ga pa dha sa. Bcoz bhup doesn't contain Ma and Ni.
So, try to create the small taans first. Like SaReDhaSa. Then after this kind of practice, you will be prepared to expand these taans
