I have actually been waiting to learn how to do this EXACT project. I started my cabinet project by re-sawing some old planks.( I have a video on my channel). I am going to make the top table like yours. That is BRILLIANT ! I have the shaper head and many blades for it, but I now know that I can do it WITHOUT the "Special" stuff. Yes it is 3/4” but that’s because I had a scrap piece left over from something else. The only part that really needs to be 3/4” plywood for stiffness is the fence. You could make it lighter by making the table out of 1/2” plywood and use 3/4” just for the fence.
I made it the same size just because I make some really big raised panels so I needed the support. If you’re not making large raised panels you can make it smaller and store the table under the saw.
